{warning} 1:32The selection of material cuts for this scene should use a sled
(Thanks to those who gave me this advice)
This tool is technically impractical, ideally a spring-operated bearing or a little clearance between the material and the bearing, one of the causes of kickback
If you make this tool, consider that point.

      Hello
Thank you for watching my video
And thank you for the nice comments
There are pros and cons comments on this jig.
The purpose of this jig was to cut multiple thin and thin plates.
However, a structure that releases a little pressure like a feather board is required.
Therefore, this jig needs a little improvement.
      Thank you

Well I have to admit I wasnt expecting a type of featherboard, nice one though ant not plastic like my ones, but at least i printed mine out of nylon and designed them. -its good to see the use of the sled in combination with the table saw, a lot of people just use it to cross cut and thats it and some carpenters I talk to dont even know that you can make a perfect circle of wood with a sled and table saw and are genuinely surprised when I show them how, Its a very versatile and safe addition to working with a table saw, why the manufacturers dont supply them is beyond me. Mind you its fun to make them and true them up. Thanks, it was nice to watch. great handmade clamps as well.

I love how sometimes at the start I'm not sure what you're building, then at the end it's like a Big Reveal when you show how it is to be used. This little jig seems to serve two obvious purposes: as a sort of featherboard and as a secondary fence for repeatable cuts. I have a thin-strip jig that works well, but this one looks like it could do just as well while also serving multiple functions.
    Great work, and great video!

I see that you often cut pieces in 2 steps rather than highering your blade till the max height, you cat half a way, then flip the piece wood and the cut the other half to split it in two. Can you explain me why and when you do that? I think that if the wood is taller than the blade or if you have to make dados, that’s normal, eventually I may think that it could be safer with hardwoods? I think it’s really an interesting strategy and if you have time I’d like to know more about it! Thank you, great video 👍

The brown tree I use in this video is hard, so I cut it twice. And if the blade doesn't cut, it's better to cut it twice, maybe!
Blades are short-lived because I always cut hard wood only.

Mach weiter so - Rudi
Unfortunately, there are always people who have something to complain about if someone makes an effort to report on their successful project. I had to find this out in another format here in Germany. If you looked at what the critics had already posted, you could occasionally find that they had never published a single post. But complaining about others is always possible. I am happy to find suggestions, techniques and tools for one or the other of my projects here or in other formats. Keep it up - Rudi

Great idea. The only thing that would make this better is to have some kind of spring so it would have tension against the wood but also a little give to account for change in the thickness (minor thickness) as the wood may vary in size. I'm not talking about the overall adjustment but some small flexibility.

I gave you a Thumbs Up because I like the nice array of wood worker's Jigs, fixtures and clamps. They're all worthy of being called a craftsman's work. Unfortunately, despite how nicely you made this table saw fixture I don't see it out performing "Feather Boards" that have been used on table saws since their inception. In fact, ... Feather Board's provide the extra benefit of reducing "Kickback". They're also a hell of a lot easier to make! Cheaper too! ;-))

Very nice idea and well made, I might try this with a short arm rad roller with a high-density foam sleeve instead of the roller bearings, it would take seconds to change the sleeve from a 4" to a 6" for higher cut stability and no issue with clogging and cheaper to build, it would not be as pretty as yours though.

I enjoyed this vid very much and noted the many measures taken to be certain that fingers would be safe: dogs, push sticks, multiple passes, etc. But I was surprised not to see a riving knife.

I like this kind of jigs, I would probably have added a couple of millimetres of spring to the bearing shaft. That way you can ensure to always have sufficient but not to much pressure even if the material isn't 100% straight. Well done!

Dear Ohyu56, nice work and elegant end product. My first thought is that you have made an alternative to a featherboard but you haven’t. There is no spring in your tool and so can only hold pieces that are precisely cut to be parallel. It does give additional height compared to a featherboard and can therefore hold timber in the vertical axis. If the shaft could have an embedded compression spring then you have a marvellous tool. Cheers.

No disrespect; but I believe if you showed the finished product (and how it worked) before you show the details of how to build it; it would be more interesting. Others will disagree, but I believe Norm Abram on the "New Yankee Workshop" proved this beyond doubt. For he always began with showing the piece and THEN how to build it.
For whatever it's worth. Great product by the way.

OK now, come on. What type of table saw do you have that moves the blade through the material instead of you pushing it through? I've been doing carpentry for 40 years and have had two heavy tops and several job units and have yet to see one that operates like an upside down radial arm. Gots to know.

@@TachiOhyo56 Hi again. I meant no offense. I was watching very closely. And it seemed you had a separate table saw that the blade was sliding towards you through the work piece vs you pushing it through. Was I wrong? I had never seen a table saw do that before, that's all. Gonna watch again, maybe I missed something.

Not sure what you were making until the end. I believe this is a little overkill. A long bar serving as a 2nd fence is enough to reach the same goal.
However, I saw you have lots unique gadgets and designs. Those are creative ideas not seen else where. To me the most amazing one is the 2nd table saw where the saw moves toward the piece instead of the other way around like any other table saws I've seen. This definitely helps with the precision. Some have said this is an overly complicated featherboard. No, it isn't. Although a featherboard has a certain amount of an anti-kickback feature to it, this device does something that a featherboard cannot do, and that is to allow fine slices of wood to be taken from a fairly thick piece of wood with accuracy. It would require a "featherboard" about 50 mm thick to align a piece of wood as accurately as this device can.
