    You don't use the wire mesh basket for large pieces like chicken, those go directly on either the low or high rack.The mesh basket is for small items like french fries that would slip between the bars on the rack.

    I live in Central Texas, It's December and supposed to in the 70's today. That being said, I asked my husband to buy me one of these for the holidays. We love to bake foods rather actually deep fry. However due the weather patterns here turning on the oven makes our house so HOT! I'm hoping that this little baby will help us keep baking our foods with out baking us...

    We've got our Big Boss more than 5 years ago at an outlet and we use it frequently. Love it. We notice that the price has gone down. Back then we paid $99. There is only one thing that we don't like about it and that is the timer. Once you set the timer, you can't adjust it by turning the knob counterclockwise. Make sure you set the right time. If you don't, stay with it to interrupt the cooking as needed. But ours is more than 5 years old. Maybe the newer models have been improved in that respect. By the way, we have an air frier which we do not use because it is cumbersome. There are other similar to the Big Boss but they are plastic. We prefer glass. Besides, we like to see what's going on with the food as it cooks. Happy frying!

    It will cook up to a SIXTEEN pound turkey with the ring. Tried and true here, you WILL have to flip the bird halfway through I suggest putting the unit on the floor and sitting in a chair to flip the bird again I figured this out for you.

  • @paulkahlen8741
    @paulkahlen8741 7 лет назад +67

    Why do you have to turn the fries over? Isn't the whole point of convection cooking is the circulation and cooking evenly from all sides? And you obviously have an air gap all around the food. I don't get it.

    • @fkdova2058
      @fkdova2058 7 лет назад +14

      Although this cooker does a pretty good job of evenly cooking, gravity still pulls the juices towards the bottom. if you didn't turn them they would be dry on top and possibly a bit mushy on the bottom.

  • @heathermaker3797

    I think the mesh basket is only supposed to be used for french fries or small things like small vegetables such as broccoli or things that would fall through the provided racks. I don't know I've never used this item but based on experience with similar items I'm guessing the most basket is only supposed to be used for french fries or other small items like stated.

    you have to learn that everything you cook needs a spritzer of oil -Pam. the thicker the breading the more oil is required. Even skinless chicken requires oil or it sticks to the grates. my first convection type was back in 2005. I learned the thicker the coating the less chance you have to making it crisp.

    • @DOCTORJAN714
      @DOCTORJAN714 5 лет назад +3

      What about spraying the PAM on the basket or rack first? Or brushing on a layer of oil directly on the metal?

    • @WyntorbearRayne

    My air fryer appears to function normally but I am disappointed. I thought the circulating heat was supposed to allow even cooking on all sides. If I have to stop the fryer and turn over the food what have I gained? And if reducing oil is the main benefit why not just cook in a nonstick skillet on the stovetop?

      You are so right.
      I was also disappointed to think that one have to turn over whatever you are doing.

    I was thinking a little square of parchment paper under this chicken would help it not stick.

      the dome on Nuwave is made of plastic which cracks. The replacement dome is hella expensive. I would rather have this.

    How come no one cooks other things on the other racks while meat is cooking etc? Isn’t that the purpose to cook multiple items at the same time if u want to ? 🤔
