    Thanks for sharing. I made a version of this recipe and am pleased with the results. I also live in Thailand, and have to adapt bread recipes to high ambient temperatures and a tiny oven, so this video is very useful to me. Also I live a one hour drive from where I can get decent (non-sweet) bread, so I am strongly motivated to learn how to bake. When next in Bangkok, I will take my wife for dinner at your restaurant.

    I just started my sourdough starter but also only have one of these halogen ovens. I've baked cakes and such in it but never thought a sourdough loaf would work. Thanks for showing that it can!

    If you have an extender ring for your halogen oven you can place the pizza stone on the low cooking rack so hot air can still circulate. This also allows you to put water in the bottom of the oven to create steam.

    Great short video - thanks for that! I have tried using halogen for my bread before watching this and the bottom of the bread was raw.. next time I’ll try placing it onto something and hopefully it’ll be done top and bottom

    Love this. I'm interested in trying to bake my bread in more energy-efficient ways, and this appeals. Also, that's a very respectable loaf :)

    Wow...thank you. I never thought about trying to bake bread in my halogen. I live in the desert where it is much to hot to use the normal oven in the summer, I'm going to try this.

      Hi Ani Cole, thanks for your nice comment. If you are going to bake bread in a halogen oven, remember that the weak point will be the base of the bread, if you use a refractory stone as a base you will solve part of this issue, if you don’t have one try to overturn the loaf to get a even crust.     Bravo !!! I have had a halogen oven for years & never knew you could bake bread in these,..I love homemade bread so i purchased a very expensive Zojirushi baker supreme, but thanks to you, i learned something new today...Thank you !!!

      Yes you can instead of the 140 gr of sourdough starter add 70 gr flour, 70 gr water and 8 gr dry yeast. The result will change however. Thx for watching 🙏

      Thanks for your comment 🙏. In that video I use a marble that I found at home. However I just got a baking stone delivered today by Shopee it’s called Rocksheat. Not sure if is working well but will let you know as soon as I try

      Ciao ho usato del marmo che ho avevo in casa. Col tempo il marmo si rompe. Se vuoi una cosa che duri nel tempo ci sono le pietre refrattarie. Per la temperatura ho portato il forno al massimo (230 gradi) ho inserito il pane, spento il forno per 10 minuti e poi continuato a 200 gradi per 30 minuti. I tempi e gradi variano da forno a forno

    Glad I found this video! Marble tile is a great idea as I have also been trying to bake SD bread with a similar oven but found that the bottom does not cook too well. Thank you for this solution! And I see there is Rocksheat product by SHopee as you recommended.

    I'm just about to put a bread mix into my halogen oven for the first time . Do you think that i should do it at a lower temperature so that it cooks throughout.?

      I made a successful loaf by cooking at a lower temperature with the lid raised higher and had a successful outcome.

      ​@@StefanoMerlo​We bought the Smart Oven the same as yours and have baked bread in it already. Like you probably will need a bit of practice to get it perfect but a good start. We are on Phuket but as we divide our time 6 months in Thailand, 6 months in UK we bring our sour dough starter with us. Happy baking!

      Yes, I did. Fruit cakes, chocolate cakes. We had fruit cakes from Christmas up to Valentines day. I put a pan of water underneath for moisture for the cakes

      I raised the lid and baked at a lower temperature. Turned out well.

      It helps in the halogen oven if you heat the stone to cook the underside . I just lowered the temperature and mine was fine.

      460 grams water
      140 grams sourdough starter
      600 grams bread flour
      66 grams wholemeal flour
      40 grams additional water
      15 grams salt
