    Yes, you are absolutely correct in your assessment of San Antonio, TX. In addition to its cultural diversity, with more than 65% of the population identifying as Hispanic, the city also faces economic challenges. It is often considered financially underprivileged, with a significant portion of its residents experiencing economic hardship. These demographic and financial factors shape many aspects of life in San Antonio, influencing its social structure, economy, and public policies.

    I have to say I do appreciate videos like this. Me and my wife are moving to San Antonio next year. And I have made sure to do my due diligence in researching our new home. It won't be our first time in Texas, because we lived in Houston for almost four years. Currently living in Oregon, but we can't afford the cost of living. Plus we miss the good Texas food, and I can say having handled traffic for almost four years in Houston I think I'll be okay with the traffic in San Antonio.

      Thank you for the comment David. I have had a few clients moving from Washington and Oregon and they said the same things about the cost of living. And yes, if you handled Houston traffic, San Antonio traffic is NOTHING!! lol
      I have close friends who live in the Cypress area and they usually stay up there and don't go downtown/uptown too much!
      Working on more videos but in the meantime, let me know what other questions you have!

    As a retiree who grew up in San Antonio, I pretty much agree. Traffic and crowding definitely much worse than it used to be. Public transportation hasn't kept up with the sprawl, either. Property values have typically outpaced inflation, and tax appraisals have resulted in ever increasing taxes. Sales tax rate also higher than it used to be. But no State income tax. I was single until later in life, so agree, not that many opportunities for social interaction for those not partnered. Career opportunities and salaries, while still not that great, are better than they used to be, IMO.

    San Antonio sort of grew on me but I saw many issues there. First and foremost, let's stop with the stereotyping and undercover racism. I notice that if you are of a certain demographic, they label you and treat you rather different. Jobs are mainly good for Hispanics, Whites, and possibly Asians. If you're Black, good luck finding a good paying job, especially in the tech industry. I remember going almost a year without a job. It was so crazy that I even got turned down from a basic HEB position. When I finally had an interview with USAA, they thought my last name was Garza. The agency that sent me, gave them the wrong name, which is why I believe I got the interview. Same resume, mind you.... Once they saw me it was not happening. When I moved to Austin, so many opportunities came my way. As of now, I'm a System Engineer for a major corporation. Another issue is dating in San Antonio.... If you're not in the military then it is slim pickings. Beware of moving to that city as it may leave a bad taste in your mouth(Not with the food, if you like bbq/tacos).

    The job market sucks. I was born and raised in SA and never made more then 11$ an hour which is why I left.

    • @satxliving
      @satxliving  Год назад +1

      Yeah in certain job sectors, the market is not good at all but in healthcare, military, and real estate the market is booming. All the best to you and yours!

    Is the San Antonio humidity worse than the humidity of NYC? I'm from NYC and summers here are very humid but was just curious if San Antonio was more or perhaps less humid than here.

    Hello from Chicago! You wanna talk property taxes? SA couldn't even come close to Cook County. You wanna talk traffic? I drive into the Loop (downtown) every day despite great public transportation. You wanna talk crime? My commute takes me through the West Side where you need eyes in the back of your head. I'm retiring in four years, and I'm definitely moving to SA. The Alamo City is very retirement friendly according to my research. So I have to ask myself, why is this guy making a video that's full of more holes than Swiss cheese? The only thing I can think of is you're trying to keep people with money out. Either that or the Californians, which I can completely understand. Well, get ready, I'm coming down. The only thing I'm going to miss about Chi-town is the best deep-dish pizza in the world.

      Thanks for the reply Anthony! We would love to have you in San Antonio! There are definitely other cities that are worse than SA in certain areas but I have been here for 46 years and the changes are drastic and what every San Antonio resident talks about. I love this city but also want to tell people what is happening here. Unfortunately I cannot speak on what other cities are like, I just wanted keep it real on what the downsides are! I love living here and am definitely not trying to keep people out. Also, not a fan of Swiss cheese lol Have a great day Anthony!
