I upgraded from the 12 Pro to the 15 Pro. I would have upgraded last year, but they didn’t have the USB-C at that time. The USB-C is great one inexpensive hub and you can connect everything doirectly to the phone, including my Samsung 1TB SSD T-7. With the 12 Pro after shooting a Beach Boy Concert, the only way to get stuff off the phone was to Air Drop to my iPad Air Gen 4 and then to the SSD. With the AT&T trade in plan, it cost me a tad over $800 with tax for the15 Pro with 1TB of storage.
The 2000 nit screen on the iPhone 15 Pro makes outdoor camera use much better. I also like the 48MP main camera and 24MP photos, providing more detail. The ability to convert photos to portrait mode is another nice feature, since I often forget to switch to portrait. Honestly, the titanium body and smoother edges makes no difference to me, since I always use a case. The small weight difference seems pretty negligible. The action button is also another positive, especially when mapped to open the camera. Jerry, as you noted, it’s hard to pass up a no cost upgrade if your carrier provides one, especially if you plan to stay with the same carrier. My carrier offers a “free” iPhone Pro 15, paid back over 36 months, with a trade in. That sweetens the deal, especially since I also need a new battery. Overall, iPhones have been really good for a while and each generation is just a minor update from the last. Taken over time, however, there has been steady progress, though nothing like what occurred with the switch to Apple silicon on Macs. I was really hoping for better battery life with the 3nm A17 Pro processor. I also hoped the 5X zoom would have been added to the non-Max model of the iPhone 15 Pro, since the form factor of the 15 Pro Max is too big for me. I tried a 6.7” iPhone a few generations back and switched back to the 6.1” size after using it for a year. Thanks for the comparison. In the end, these upgrades are a personal decision, and many people can probably skip the upgrade and just get a new battery, especially if their carrier trade-in deal is not too good.

Life is too short to not upgrade to better tech whenever you get the chance. Treat yourself to an early Christmas. The excitement of getting a new phone is pretty hard to beat.
@@neilmcguinness4422Life is too short to waste money on pointless upgrades. After going to the Apple Store and holding both phones side-by-side they are very similar phones. The iPhone 15 PM is just version 4 of the 12 PM. The only interesting upgrade is the 5x camera. The other upgrades are nice to have, but not ‘must have’. This is an upgrade for the wealthy and wasteful.
_It’s better to take photos in the 1X main camera and then zoom in or crop, because when you zoom in you won’t be getting the full 48 megapixels and if you’re taking photos in the 16:9 instead of the 4:3 you will reduce the 48 megapixels down to 36 megapixels. Also, if you tap and hold on the Raw Max icon, you would be able to switch it to 12 megapixels. 12 megapixels is best for low light scenery._
I have the 12 pro I just don’t feel like trading my iPhone and getting new case etc I haven’t gotten around to doing that iPhone upgrade chore just yet Still enjoying my 12 pro though
Jerry, thanks for the great review. I just decided to upgrade from an iPhone 12 Pro with 256MB to an iPhone 15 Pro Max with 512MB. I am still very happy with my iPhone 12 Pro and zero problems. The reason for the upgrade (and in this order) is screen size, photos, more local memory, longer batt life. Not to mention that I will be able to keep this phone for the next 3-5 years without having to worry about Apple not providing the latest security and performance updates.
I’m a 12 Pro user, had it since 2020, and as much as I’m tempted, I’ll skip the 15 Pro, and wait another year. I paid cash for my iPhones, so I always consider the full sticker price when upgrading.
I sent back my 16 Pro and kept my 12 Pro since I did not see much sense keeping for minor upgrades for my use. Your use may be different. I don’t use a camera that much. I definitely did not like the new camera button on the side and I had touch issues on my screen with a 16 pro so it went back. I’ll keep my 12 pro another year.
Battery health on my 12 pro is at 82%, will get a new battery when it gets under 80%. It's my first pro Iphone, no complaints and I see myself keeping it for at least 2 more years.
I have 12pro and battery down to 80% and was wondering whether it's worth the upgrade given good trade in value. you've just convinced me to replace battery at £85 vs fishing out £630 for iphone 15. Thanks for the video! you've saved me from unnecessarily spending
The giant cameras on the back of the 14 and 15 look absolutely ridiculous. How did that pass the design phase and go into production? The 12 looks so much more elegant with the smaller cameras.
This is exactly why I went from my XS to 12 Pro.. wanted an 14 Pro but the cameras look huge and dont like that design, 12 pro cameras are absolutely classy
I currently still have IPhone 8 and I shoot documentary videos on it. I’m wondering if the camera was changed from 12 before 15? I have bought my last two phones refurbished and have done pretty good for me and saved a lot of money! Nice video!
The 12 Pro is still a very capable device. I do prefer my 15 Pro (MAX) due to its better 5x optical zoom lens, the brighter bigger screen and the smooth yet matte finish of Titanium and glass than the Stainless Steel and glass, both are still nice, I love both, but I now prefer the matte finish.
I am on the fence in getting my first ever iphone and I am considering the iphone 15 Pro Max. Its the only phone for me since I care about 120Hz, USB-C and small form-factor. Its either the iphone 15 Pro or nothing. People are complaining a lot about its battery. Is it true that the battery on the 15 Pro is bad or people are just being drama queens?
Oof. It's a tough sell even though I would love the new camera depth camera feature and macro lens. I think I may hold on to my 12pro for one more year or check with my provider to see what deals they have going on like you said. Very thorough review! Great work!
The macro on 15 pro is awful. Try it out, take identical photos with the 12 pro and the 15 pro before you make the switch. I’m so regretting it, 15 pro is terrible for close up product photography compared to the 12 pro.
I have a 12 Pro Max. I have to say I haven’t been so super excited about the 15 Pro Max that I would spend the money to upgrade. I will more than likely replace the battery and hold onto the phone for 2 more years.
@@ClickbaitMotorsports I think the 13 Pro or Pro Max are the best all around iPhones till this day. The 12 Pro series lack that 120hz display and the improved battery on the 13 Pros.
@@TheBri87 I used to think that about the 13 Pros. However, the form factor of the 12 Pros is way better, which is more important than ProMotion for me. The 13 Pro got the larger battery which cause Apple to increase the weight and thickness of the 13 Pro. It's a chunky phone, which is why Apple had to go to Titanium for the 15 Pro. The 12 Pro has 120hz under the screen touch response which give it a world-class 60Hz screen, way better than any Android equivalent. And it has 6GB RAM comparable to the 13/14 Pro. And come to think of it, I always disable 120Hz on my Android phones, I don't need it. Best iPhone of all-time.
@@KrypteiaXi screen time is similar, battery degradation very good, compared to my previous: two Pixel 2s, two pixel 3s, a pixel 4 and a pixel 5a I also had five nexuses
The only issue I have w my 12pro is that recently (seemingly for no reason) the phones speaker volume has dropped considerably. It’s no diff when I’m using my ear buds or my cars speakers, but just when listening through the phone itself; so, my best guess is it’s a likely a hardware thing. 🤷🏼♂️ That said, the type-C is kind of a big deal for me. Mainly bc almost everything I own that charges through usb uses type-C (including my gf’s Samsung), so it’d definitely be nice to FINALLY be able to have just 🔥*1*🔥 type of usb cable for everything!
The iPhone 12 Pro is the best iPhone ever made by Apple. Best form factor by far with an amazing screen (industry leading 60hz), great camera and physical SIM without an intrusive, always-on satellite connection. 👍
I just upgraded from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max. It feels new, and it is so smooth to use...it just seems a fraction speedier but to me that makes a difference. Maybe I should have waited for one or 2 generations more but there was an offer.
I made this upgrade. The 12 PM was everything I needed. Except. I wanted the new camera system. That was worth the change. The 15 PM does feel better, and I’m surprised how much I enjoy it. But. I wouldn’t upgrade for that. There are other things about the 15 that are better than the 12 that are not worth the upgrade for me. Camera aside? No upgrade. I would go back to the 12 in a minute. Again, except for the camera.
@@iwill_859 Your eloquence, expertise, and enthusiasm lead you to misread, misunderstand, misstate. Of course that doesn't mean I'm not crazy. But I wasn't expecting an uninformative, unnecessary, and uninspired response. Though I suppose surprises are part of life.
Yeah, the 5x camera is the only thing that interest me. Though, the 24MP photos definitely look clearer. However, from watching and reading reviews, I think the main 1x camera needs to be better to fill the gap. The improvements in screen brightness and battery life are also nice, but I can manage without them.
I gonna delay my upgrade. They made the vanilla 12 too good. I’m still enjoying it after somewhat 3 years. I got some new cases to get along with the new ios17 too 😁
I have the 12 Pro currently with 87% battery health. Battery life stinks and I have to shut down most system service location settings and keep low power mode turned on, as well as turn off the cell radio (when I’m in areas with weak signal), to get through the day with 5-6 hours of screen-on time. And I don’t do anything demanding on my phone accept answer messages, or engage on Facebook and Threads… :(
Are they still manufacturing the 12 or just selling the old stock? If it’s still being manufactured I would guess they are making new batteries too…unless they prioritize older ones for replacement jobs.
My 12 pro survived falling down multiple times a month, falling down in the sea, and getting burned by boiling water, once I got over it with the car. It is as good as new except for a few tiny scratches not seen in everyday use. I'm still quite surprised considering every Samsung or Huawei dies after 2 years. Yes, I'm bad at keeping my phones safe, but the durability of this one amazes me. Guess there was a bit of luck. Thanks for the video. I'll wait for a new generation to see if it is worth the update.
I upgraded from an iPhone SE original to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. That was a major upgrade in size and design, but also user experience. Large full screen display, face ID, triple cameras. The iPhones 15s are just too similar to the iPhone 12s to be worth the upgrade. They have the same basic design and the same user experience. I'm waiting for another major upgrade!
I have my action button Mac to a butt load of scripts, so when I hold it, my phone enters a very efficient battery mode. So I can go for two days on a single charge of moderate use and decent amount of photo since I am photo obsessed, or I can automatically switch right to normal mode. The best part is when I hold the action button, it only takes less than a second for it to switch between both modes and you can tell the difference. When you’re in the normal mode, you have all the things like the 120 screen thing and so on and when you switch it to battery mode, you can feel it get a little bit sluggish but then you realize you haven’t charged for two days.
I use 15 pro max and yes i do love 120hz but i use 60hz instead just to save a little battery because i charge my phone with Limit 80%. 60hz is find for me. No problem at all.
Apple should only make two iPhones a year. A bigger one and a smaller one both of them the best they could be. If you want a cheaper, iPhone and get the one from the year before, is how it should be.
With iPhones it’s just little miniscule differences. It’s nice because people on a budget can still get most of the experiences buying previous gen’s. 🎉
It’s not downgraded. For faraway objects, iPhone 15 is capturing much more details if you will zoom it. After take photo. But with some reason which objects is closer little it’s not sharp as 14 pro. It’s weird but this have - and +
I Have a 12mini just bought a 15+. battery sux in the 12mini. always heats up and screen shuts down. Looking forward to better battery performance from my 15+.I'm a streamer and use it to hotspot my laptop. Those cut outs on the cover stink! They get caught on stuff and break off
What about the Iphone 15 regular vs an Iphone 12 Pro. Is the camera still better on the 15 even though it doesn't have the 3 lenses? Verizon is offering a great upgrade option right now but wife really likes her current phone.
Me and my wife have 12 PMs. I recommended my mum to upgrade from an iPhone 11 to a 15 Plus. All the important things are better - screen, battery life, camera. However, they are still the same design and user experience. The 15 Plus is just a more refined 12PM. Ultimately I decided it was not really much of an upgrade.
In my testing - the iPhone 15 new 48MP camera, with digital zoom, can match the 2.5x zoom camera on the 12 Pro iPhones. Of course, without zoom it is better 1x camera and noticeably better in low light.
Well upgraded from X to iPhone 12proMax sept 2023.Well kinda happy with the 5G and 6.7 bigger screen and magsafe etc etc. well perhaps in another 3-4 years might get the 15pro max or pro.
on everyday use it dosent matters for 99 percent of people get cheaper iphone 13 pro or 14 pro which is on par with latest iphone 15 pro and save your hard earned money.
Personally, I think the iPhone pro 15 is a knock off because of the type C port and because of it not having any Sims I am running the iPhone 12 pro 128 meg memory best phone I’ve ever owned
I never get the newest phones since I tend to be hard on them so getting an older gen phone vs the latest and greatest is worth the bargain. Got the 12 pro for 311 but I’ll still keep dailying my a14 cause that thing is a tank for my daily use.
dont buy a regular pro, I had the 12 pro and the battery was decent. I was with it like for a year until christmas where i gifted myself the 13 pro max.
I have the iPhone 12 Pro, but I’m gonna wait for the iPhone 17 Pro Max I think…. The only negative point of my 12 Pro is the battery health, but the rest works perfectly!

Upgrading from 12pro to 15pro waiting delivery debated about canceling, but then thought, all other devices usb-c (10gbs transfer), dynamic island features, action button, 120hz screen, titanium frame, better cameras & zoom, better video recording, new a17pro 3nm about 50% more performance overall, way better battery life, better modems wifi bluetooth threads connectivity, 2000 nit screen, better haptic feedback, definitely going to upgrade 👍
I was in the exact same situation! I am using a 12 rn and said screw it 15 pro it is! I won’t upgrade again until iPhone 18 hahaha
I have the 12 pro
I just don’t feel like trading my iPhone and getting new case etc
I haven’t gotten around to doing that iPhone upgrade chore just yet
Still enjoying my 12 pro though
Hows the battery? Does it last a whole day?
I paid cash for my iPhones, so I always consider the full sticker price when upgrading.
me too
But lower resale price of your 12 may outweigh the pros of waiting for next gen
You obviously don’t trade in w your carrier cause they’re practically giving them out for essentially free.
@@iwill_859as of my knowledge most carriers don’t do the “free” deals with the Pro Max, and often they don’t let you pick the higher storage options.
Does it drain quickly? Thinking to upgrade from 11 to 12pro
Thanks for honest review. I keep 12pro. May change battery next year
No problem 👍
My only reason to get 15 is the usb c. Don’t want to carry different cables. Hated lighting.
its the only reason that I am giving Apple a chance.
Literally got the 12 pro a few months ago. I'm good lol
12 pro or 13 for camera
Do this for 16 pro and 12 pro please
I sent back my 16 Pro and kept my 12 Pro since I did not see much sense keeping for minor upgrades for my use. Your use may be different. I don’t use a camera that much. I definitely did not like the new camera button on the side and I had touch issues on my screen with a 16 pro so it went back. I’ll keep my 12 pro another year.
If you were originally okay with 60Hz when you bought the 12 Pro, you should be okay with it now and wait at least another year before upgrading imo.
Nah, the camera on the 12 pro look goofy asf, so much space left. The 15/14/13 pro's camera is actually good looking.
I currently still have IPhone 8 and I shoot documentary videos on it. I’m wondering if the camera was changed from 12 before 15? I have bought my last two phones refurbished and have done pretty good for me and saved a lot of money! Nice video!
Very good comparison, it's very detailed.
Thanks!
I have the 10X Max and im taking a pass on the 15 pro max. To many heating issues and the ultra comes out on the 16
The 12 Pro is still a very capable device. I do prefer my 15 Pro (MAX) due to its better 5x optical zoom lens, the brighter bigger screen and the smooth yet matte finish of Titanium and glass than the Stainless Steel and glass, both are still nice, I love both, but I now prefer the matte finish.
I have a iPhone 12 pro and i love it ill just change the battery and keep it for a view more years
I am on the fence in getting my first ever iphone and I am considering the iphone 15 Pro Max. Its the only phone for me since I care about 120Hz, USB-C and small form-factor. Its either the iphone 15 Pro or nothing. People are complaining a lot about its battery. Is it true that the battery on the 15 Pro is bad or people are just being drama queens?
What’s your average screen on time? I would say 5 plus hours is normal for the 15 pro
@@JerrySchulze i haven't gotten the 15 pro yet. I am researching into it.
Oof. It's a tough sell even though I would love the new camera depth camera feature and macro lens. I think I may hold on to my 12pro for one more year or check with my provider to see what deals they have going on like you said. Very thorough review! Great work!
I still have my 12 pro.
Agreed
The macro on 15 pro is awful. Try it out, take identical photos with the 12 pro and the 15 pro before you make the switch.
I’m so regretting it, 15 pro is terrible for close up product photography compared to the 12 pro.
Will you upgrade to the iPhone 16?
@@nighttt_. I ended up going with the 16 pro since my 12 pro battery was starting to finally lose steam
I have a 12 Pro Max. I have to say I haven’t been so super excited about the 15 Pro Max that I would spend the money to upgrade. I will more than likely replace the battery and hold onto the phone for 2 more years.
keep the 12. These new iphones have added this frustrating feature where pictures overexposure after taking it. It doesn’t look natural.
Wise decision. if you've held one you've held them all
Hold on to it. The iPhone 12 Pro (Max) is the best iPhone ever from Apple. Such an amazing device all around.
First time I've seen your videos. I like your style. Great job on the video. Thanks!
Upgrading from 7 to 15 pro max! So excited
Switched between these today, 12 was a beast
and the 15 is not?
@@KrypteiaXi 15 pro is. marginal beast compared to the gaping initial gains of the 12
@MilushevGeorgi all I care about is usb-c and battery. Do you find the iphone 15 pro better than the 12 pro when it used to have 100% battery health?
@@KrypteiaXi screen time is similar, battery degradation very good, compared to my previous: two Pixel 2s, two pixel 3s, a pixel 4 and a pixel 5a I also had five nexuses
Iphone 12 is pretty much an "endgame" phone for me... 5G, night mode, magsafe and OLED...minus the high refreshrate screen.
Isn’t iPhone 12 and 15 has same weight ?
Weight reduction only counts if you had 13 or 14……..
The only issue I have w my 12pro is that recently (seemingly for no reason) the phones speaker volume has dropped considerably. It’s no diff when I’m using my ear buds or my cars speakers, but just when listening through the phone itself; so, my best guess is it’s a likely a hardware thing. 🤷🏼♂️
That said, the type-C is kind of a big deal for me. Mainly bc almost everything I own that charges through usb uses type-C (including my gf’s Samsung), so it’d definitely be nice to FINALLY be able to have just 🔥*1*🔥 type of usb cable for everything!
For the speaker i think that is a dust issue. Try to clean it with a toothbrush and a bread rubber
Cleaning
You are right about the speakers. I just upgraded from the 12 pro to the 15 pro today and the speakers on the 15 pro is WAYYYY BETTER AND LOUDER.
Camera aside? Everything about the 15’s are better & you still choosing an inferior product is crazy.
@@jameskeener7251Gold 😂
@@jameskeener7251 LOL this conversation between the both of you is hilarious
Yeah, the 5x camera is the only thing that interest me. Though, the 24MP photos definitely look clearer. However, from watching and reading reviews, I think the main 1x camera needs to be better to fill the gap. The improvements in screen brightness and battery life are also nice, but I can manage without them.
Great vid but the notch is WAY MORE distracting than the Dynamic Island.
Thx for making the vid!!
Great video. I have the iPhone 12 pro max with no problem.
I gonna delay my upgrade. They made the vanilla 12 too good. I’m still enjoying it after somewhat 3 years. I got some new cases to get along with the new ios17 too 😁
The vanilla 12 sucks, overheats to hell and the battery life is embarrassing…it was the phone that made me go pro.
what iphone do you have now@@iwill_859
The vanilla iPhone 13 is much better tbh. However, the iPhone 12 Pro is the best ever...so far.
Dynamic notch update is coming in iOS 18 update after the update notch will be same to the 15 pro
I have the 12 Pro currently with 87% battery health. Battery life stinks and I have to shut down most system service location settings and keep low power mode turned on, as well as turn off the cell radio (when I’m in areas with weak signal), to get through the day with 5-6 hours of screen-on time. And I don’t do anything demanding on my phone accept answer messages, or engage on Facebook and Threads… :(
I use a battery case from Amazon. I can get through the day now lol
Same. I’ve replaced the battery twice now and it’s still dying half way through the day. It was a great phone, but I think it’s time to upgrade.
@@Nattodayyyeah problem is I doubt the batteries even at Apple are at their peak capacity. Those batteries probably sit for a while.
Are they still manufacturing the 12 or just selling the old stock? If it’s still being manufactured I would guess they are making new batteries too…unless they prioritize older ones for replacement jobs.
The #1 reason I didn't buy the iPhone 15 was because they don't have a physical SIM. I travel a lot and most countries have not adopted the eSIM yet.
I get that. I use Google Fi for traveling.
Maybe try to get an european version of the phone. We still have sim tray
Exactly! No physical SIM is a deal-breaker. Leave to Apple to remove options for consumers.
Great review. But, why is everybody trying to show 120Hz display while recording 24/25, 30 or max 60 fps video? Just can‘t get it.
Outside the Pro line. apple did the base 15 dirty by giving them and older chip
Apple should only make two iPhones a year. A bigger one and a smaller one both of them the best they could be. If you want a cheaper, iPhone and get the one from the year before, is how it should be.
I went from XR to 15 Pro Max, initially wanted the 12 a few years ago but this ended up being worth it
This is an excellent on point comparison video. Clear and to the point. Thank you 😊
Is 12 Pro worth it for about $350 used ones that has 80% battery health ?
Seems good just replace the battery
With iPhones it’s just little miniscule differences. It’s nice because people on a budget can still get most of the experiences buying previous gen’s. 🎉
upgrade 13 mini to 14 pro !!! and still asking myself .......why did I do that other then losing money !!!!
Well the 14 pro does have a much better battery than the 13 mini so that may be worth it.
I have the 12 pro max and I still enjoy life 😊but I’m still wondering if 😮
How is your battery life? I am thinking to get one 15 pro max, to have a greater battery as I am in the iphone 12 that has a quite bad battery

but i got the 12 pro max for only 3 years now. works like on day one...
usb c was a must for me. Every electronic that i have uses usb c except my iphone. Finally, 1 cable for all lol
I wouldnt want to upgrade but I just wanna take advantage of the $1000 credit over 3 years if i trade it in.
That’s why I’m here…tonight…watching this video. Did you do it?
I got the 15 pro silver, doesn’t have a glossy back but a Matt finish back, kind weird and it does have a SIM card tray
It’s not downgraded. For faraway objects, iPhone 15 is capturing much more details if you will zoom it. After take photo. But with some reason which objects is closer little it’s not sharp as 14 pro. It’s weird but this have - and +
Currently have iPhone 12 Pro think I’ll wait for 16 pro hoping for better upgrades
Yeah, all the recent iPhones are too similar. We are currently on version 4 of the iPhone 12, but Apple call it the iPhone 15 🤣
Go in to dynamic island and the new side button a bit more.

I took my 15 pro back and went back to using my 13pro. Just wasn’t worth the upgrade and money
Why
@@dreadlocsamurai4241 Same basic design and user experience. The upgrades are minor and not worth it.
What about the Iphone 15 regular vs an Iphone 12 Pro. Is the camera still better on the 15 even though it doesn't have the 3 lenses? Verizon is offering a great upgrade option right now but wife really likes her current phone.
Yes, it is still a nice upgrade and you still get the 2x zoom on the main sensor.

Most of our phones are kept in cases and all these exterior features are just a mirage
on everyday use it dosent matters for 99 percent of people get cheaper iphone 13 pro or 14 pro which is on par with latest iphone 15 pro and save your hard earned money.
Wonder to buy older pro max or latest standard iphone? For example an Iphone 11 pro max or just get an iphone 13
