I'm so glad he played this game blind and ended up with a neutral route the first time. He got to play the game the actual intended way and it didn't become another Markiplier situation.

To have PointCrow go through the questionnaire bit the second time and still not notice Alphys giving him the answer makes you want to yell at the screen like never before. Loving the playthrough!!!
I watched several playthroughs of undertale and didn't noticed it until someone playing pointed it out. So I don't blame him, but I too felt like screaming, just not at him. More like screaming and laughing at the absurdity. Funny crow.

1:36:02 i just realized that papyrus says “urgh… who cares! give up!!” and undyne says the same thing in her fight, too. that’s really interesting. i might be wrong with this detail, but it really shows the connection between papyrus and undyne.

The context here is that by not giving her the Water, he CAN ruin the Pacifist run. So... bit of a catch 22 there.
I know, I felt so bad for chat I almost felt like crying. People doing what they're told and still getting punished or yelled at always hits close to my heart.

Literally though, my first blind play through I was under the impression I’m supposed to be scared of her! I didn’t know what to do and accidentally exited the room and couldn’t save her. I was on route for pacifist and got neutral instead because of that ONE mistake.

I think the better way to do it would have been to say either “don’t leave the room or you’ll fail pacifist” or “give her the water or you’ll fail pacifist”, but the first would be preferable. Prevents him from doing the thing that actually will end pacifist but doesn’t tell him what to do

For some reason,missing your attacks and sparing is the same thing for the Toriel

I'm so glad he did this. I had to fight so hard to keep my mouth shut when he was just casually killing the monsters in the first run. Though it was worth it to see his pain after he killed undyne lmao
I remember my first time playing, I just assumed it was like any other RPG and gaining EXP was a good thing. I feel like neutral is the intended route for first playthroughs.

@@mariotheundying yeah, I was told not to kill before I played it and it kinda ruined my experience. I love the game and stuff, but I never got to experience that shock that was the whole point of undertale. I still wonder to this day if I would have actually killed anything or if I would have just acted by chance. I’ll never know. Please don’t spoil it for other people, you’ll take away the magic.

To play the devil's advocate, chat probably could have been a little more subtle in instructing him what to do for the undyne bit instead of just directly telling him to give her the water. You only fail pacifist if you leave the room so perhaps saying not to leave the room before undyne gets up would be one way to go about it. :P
It's crazy how much more difficulty he experiences when fighting Papyrus compared to fighting Photoshop/Omega Flowey

Papyrus is genuinely hard in Pacifist
Papyrus non-mercy kill after ruins and snowdin pacifist is technically one of the hardest fights in the game, so it doesn't surprise me that he gets difficult to beat for a lot of people (hence part of the reason why toby puts in a failsafe that most players end up falling into)
I can't believe he missed Temmie Village twice in a row. The game even told him how to get there. Imma cry ;-;

I love how Eric is complaining about there being more backseating in this run as if he isn’t literally doing a run that requires a lot of specific conditions to be met.

If you killed before undyne and spare undyne she tells papyrus that she doesn’t hang out with murderers
If undyne is killed papyrus will say she should be there

in my opinion, if its right in-between red and orange, and therefore can be either one, I think it should be red because that's what the game calls it.
(Edit) in any other situation a case could be made for either answer
So, to defend your chat in the instance of the cup of water at roughly 3:01:00 you did say at the beginning to inform you of actions that would break Pacifist and forgetting the cup of water would in fact do that. You can't even backtrack to do it. For the most part I agree, backseating is terrible, but this one I can see why your chat backseated in this instance. still enjoyable to watch! hope to catch your streams soon!

Honestly, I was so sure it was red when I was on my phone, but when I switched to computer, it was clearly orange.
.. So .. I colorpicked the switch.. and the Hex code is #FF4404... which is known as Vermilion... and that is a type of red... so the switch is red, not orange.

very fun watching others play through the game, especially blindly, but can get mildly annoying when it sometimes feels like theyre rushing through details
obviously, people can play how they want and im not going to judge for playing differently, just wanted to point out the turnaround between these two moments that i thought was funny :D

What the...? Never in all my time with Undertale have I seen that extended interaction with Shyren. That was really awesome! I had no idea that was even in the game!

If there is something I learned through my decades on the internet is that when someone says they aren't mad, they're mad, just hiding it very well. The reason there was no "backseating" in your first playthrough it's because you completely ruined it the first time you killed the froggit, so people just gave up completely and were watching for your reactions of what the characters say, whatever you do in a neutral route doesn't matter. Any other route like pacifist needs especific actions that will permanently ruin it without hope of recovering if you don't do them, you can just leave the room without giving her water and destroy your run. Kinda interesting you saw the water message but not all the comments talking about Temmie village.

First of all "ruined it" is very very subjective
The beauty of undertale is it completely tailors itself to your own choices. Which is why pointcrow had such a strong emotional reaction to the first playthrough. Because it was HIS choices.
When you first play undertale, you're still in a gamer mindset. "I've gotta kill guys for xp" sorta thing. And usually before people play undertale, they get the notion from other people saying "hey this isn't a normal game. Your actions have consequences"
But nobody gave pointcrow that notion. And it made me realize that the game has an incredibly natural way of teaching you about your actions.
Because of this, it lead so a slow irl character growth that was so awesome to watch. And it's all because he "ruined" his playthrough.
I do admit, I don't think twitch chat was in the wrong for telling him about the water. They were just following his instructions. It kinda just seemed like a just a big misunderstanding to me.

I am with PointCrow, the switch clearly looks orange. Your heart that you stare at every battle is red, the switch is clearly not close to the hearts color. Though the color is probably intentionally off, I cant imagine they would accidentally screw up the color so much.

No thats not your audio, it’s bc Undertale doesn’t allow you to post it without copyright so the music there prob got copyrighted. Which caused the audio to go away. This is also why it’s not on his main channel
