Just like to remind y’all that Toby isn’t to blame for strikes on videos and demonetizations. Materia is a predatory music label which tricks growing indie devs into giving away the rights to their music. Every other bit of Undertale content besides the music can be freely used in monetized videos.
Edit: They also dredge up any possible reason to not pay developers like Toby.

It really triggers me when people blame Toby for this. It's not his fault at all, and people drag his name through the mud about it despite all the good he has done for this community and its fans. It's sickening. It happens every time, people get convinced of something that's false and direct their anger and hatred toward the wrong person.
It realls sucks that one of my favorite game developers of all time has to deal with this.
I realize I'm a year late but yeah it bothered me when he made it sound as if the label's decisions were also toby's decisions, as if toby had any say in it

I found it very fun when I realized the game has you name "the fallen human" at the very beginning, but doesn't specify which one, so it becomes all the more shocking when you realize the game had you name the first fallen human, not the one you play as.

i was 19 when i first played undertale and when i first saw burgerpants say "i'm 19 years old and i've already wasted my entire life" i honestly half expected to find out later that the game had accessed my age in my steam account lol

If you interact with the dog food in Alphys' lab, if it is half full, you're on the pacifist path. If it's half empty, you're on the neutral or genocide path.

The absolute worst thing about undertale is never being able to experience it for the first time again.
But seeing someone genuinely experience it blind for the first time is practically just as satisfying.
Ive seen this game more times than any other game because seeing how my favorite content creators experience the mystery in their individual ways makes me feel like its that first time again. Its been a few years since ive seen it last, i was suprised theres still people out there who havnt at the very least been spoiled, but goddamn thank you for sharing your experience and shout out to ur chat at mods for mostly keeping it cool
My feelings exactly! I love watching RUclipsrs play my favorite games blind - but Undertale is by far my favorite. And it's so painful knowing you can't ever feel that genuine first impact ever again... Undertale is so much more like an epic novel than a video game to me because of that
I wish I could have experienced Genocide without being spoiled.
@@cortster12 I've only ever played Pacifist (seen playthroughs of all routes though) and I had it heavily spoiled for me lol.
BUT I can't really complain, since it was my best friend spoiling it for me, and her description of some of the characters and events were the only reason I played it at all. A small sacrifice to get me to play my favorite game for the first time, I guess.
My first watch through of this game was from Jacksepticeye. He had already been told that there were Pacifist and Genocide routes and was already aiming directly for Pacifist. I saw some other creators play it after him, then finally played it myself. I never got the raw sensation of playing the game myself, with my own instincts and no preconceptions. I actually avoided watching Jack play it for a while due to how it looked. And just as much, I never really saw anyone play it raw. I knew over time that it was better to experience it blind, but I never actually got to witness it.
PointCrow is the first time I've ever seen someone play the game entirely blind. And it is such a visceral experience. Watching him realize details about the lore for the first time, watching him try to solve puzzles without help, watching him see these key moments that I love seeing people's reactions to. But even more importantly than that, it gave me something I'd never seen with this game before. I saw him THINK about what he wanted to do. About how he should approach moral situations. I saw him realize that his actions actually meant something. Even toward something as insignificant as what any other game would throw at you as EXP fodder. And see firsthand just how much the game makes your actions stick with you. It was the one aspect of this game I had never fully seen, as myself and other creators I watched already went in with knowledge from others about what the game was and what they should do. And it's arguably the most important aspect of this game.
It was my absolute favorite game at the time of its release, once I forced myself to ignore the visuals and watch someone play it. Over time, other games like Spider-Man PS4 had taken its place. But I've gone back to it recently for various reasons and for something so small and unassuming, even knowing what I know, it still manages to elicit feelings from me. And I'm still learning new things about the game. It has reclaimed its position as my favorite game of all time. And honestly, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Yeah, as much as I fucking love this game, my third favorite game of all time, the community is trash. There are good ones, obviously, like Camilla and other creators who pour heart and soul into fan works like Glitchtale and whatever else, but most of it is just "DO THIS DO THAT OH NO YOU MISSED THIS OH I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THIS PART" people who completely ruin people's first experiences, and leave a negative impression on the game as a result. People that have no idea how hypocritical their thinking is. Their blind enthusiasm of the game is actively harming it and its public image. It's sad.

Still think it's funny that the bigger youtubers had Undertale monetized back in the day, but now Materia said 'lol no'. Unfortunately Undertale's music isn't actually free to use, though. Megalovania got muted on my stream
That's kind of Materia's mo though, finding indie hits, promising to make dealing with revenue less of a headache for the people who made the music, then acting like a patent troll all the while skipping any payments to artist they can and acting like they're morally superior.

@@mrwhitesam6917 because your average indie title isnt going to blow up. It's gonna have a small, dedicated following and a small team without a lot of resources or legal guidance.
It's like the studio that was going to make the Homestuck game. They kept the Kickstarter money, never made much of anything, and used that revenue to turn around and put out a weird King's Quest reboot.
When somebody just barely had the means to get their project out there, they're usually not going to be taking the issue to court. An unfortunate aspect of how our legal system works: below a certain wealth bracket, you are easy prey for anyone or corporate entity above.

I’ve watched/played Undertale several times before and never managed to cry from the ending… but for some reason when he saved asriel at the end I just couldn’t help but cry.
To be honest i haven’t really been able to see someone experience Undertale like this in years so it felt as if it was the first time.

I thought I knew a lot too, until i searched for the very hidden stuff. Who knew Mettaton voice was a morse code, that translates into random letters, that when put in a converter (I forgot what it was) would give an imgur link, which is just flowey saying “You naive idiot.”

I have played through undertale so many times at this point, i have spent years loving this game, looking up and learning lore about it, i know every piece of flavor-text inside and out.
I have never, EVER seen this dialogue before. what the hell?

You can encounter that dialogue if you beat naturel first, then beating asgore on pacifist route
(Most of the players, dont fight with asgore in pacifist (2.timeline)
Just look and see what happens if you repeat the process even more times

As far as I know, there are:
Multiple Neutral with all the combinations of bosses killed, spared or friended
2 True Pacifist endings (not that different, but they can be considered), impossible to do after any Genocide
1 Genocide ending
1 Re-Genocide ending
2 Souless Pacifist endings unlockable after doing a Genocide

The genuine emotions you show playing games is incredible, and honestly that makes watching this just so much better. This is one of those things that once you've experienced it, you find such great joy in watching others experience it, too.

For anyone wondering about the Fullmetal alchemist thing. The original anime went faster in the story than the manga did, so it ended having a different storyline. Brotherhood falls closer to the story than the original does. They both have their goods and bads, so I would recommend both.
The year is 2022 and I just learned about that final dialogue if you backtrack to the very beginning

also for the brotherhood vs 2003 comments towards the end. You do kinda need to watch one to watch the other the first few bits of brotherhood REALLY expect you to have seen at least some of 2003 so it doesnt do a very good job of introducing and getting you to like the characters as well as 2003. brotherhood is the definitively better version but i think this fact gets left out a lot the early characterization is way better in 2003
Am I the only one who remembers colour tile rules and can spot where to go? I feel like it’s really easy to see that you need to step on a purple tile, avoid orange tiles, then go to a blue tile. I don’t really get how RUclipsrs fail at the start and say it’s impossible
