So glad I found this video. We just bought a 2019 XLE AWD and absolutely love it. I can’t believe how smooth it drives and rides. Only complaint was same as your wife’s is that you have to turn off the auto on off of engine every time you start it. This is our favorite vehicle we have ever owned. Glad to know how it’s held up for you.
we love ours so much. none of these newer SUVs don not appeal to us at all. when we see youtube videos of the newer fancier SUVs with there fancy features and gadgets is knowing that it's just more stuff to break and get fixed or replaced.
Fantastic video! My wife and I have been looking at a 2018 Highlander XLE. We watched another video that mentioned there are 5 recalls on the 2018 Highlander. Did you have those taken care of or the place you purchased from take care of the recalls?
I searched our vin on the nhtsa website and only found the one fuel pump recall. Drove ours for 2 years and didn't get it taken care of. Sadly it was totaled 2 weeks ago so I'll never know if ours would have needed it done
Had the 2019 xle highlander since it came out, no problems with anything and I drive a LOT, it’s almost at 150,000 and that’s from when I bought it new.
Awesome video! back in Jan 2021, my wifes CRV took a crap. we sold it at carmax for $3k. I have a 2018 4runner and suggested we should take a look at some used Highlanders. My wifes wish list was just a highlander with captains chairs and leather and thats all she requested so I went on the hunt online. We got very lucky and found a CPO 2018 Highlander XLE silver with captains chairs with only 15k miles at a Clearwater Toyota which was only like 3.5 hrs from us in north florida. Small world, I ended up knowing the salesman(mutual friend) there so he was able to make the process less stressful. We ended up paying $29.5k + tax tag title etc. In a world esp now with all these fancy SUVs now esp the newer Kia/Hyundai etc with all the new features and gadgets, we both still love driving the simplicity and reliability of the Highlander. Peace of mind is lovely. Coming from a 2009 CRV, All she wanted was a rear camera, leather and captains chairs(for the kids). Since we bought it 2 years ago, we've put on 32k miles. It's such a great road trip car with 2 kids. It's perfect for us. I've done all the maintenance on it (just did her 50k service yesterday) since we bought it and its a breeze since I follow the manual. only thing i replaced recently was the battery (normal replacement) and tires. edit- we are so used to pushing the auto start off that we remind one another if we forget lol.
@@ThatCarVlogChannel thank u for the reply! we are going on a trip from florida to brevard nc then to pigeon forge. I volunteered my 4runner but my wife said heck no, we are taking the highlander lol. We will bring out mountain bikes so im gonna buy an etrailer hitch and install like you 👍🏽
@@itr0863 it really is an amazing road trip vehicle. I just looked again and saw where you got yours. Are you from the Clearwater area? We visited Tampa/Clearwater last year and had an absolute blast!
@@ThatCarVlogChannel i live in Jacksonville, FL so like 3.5 hrs drive south to st pete area. We love it there. We go once a year in the summer. Treasure island area just a bit north of st pete beach area. Cant go wrong w lots of areas to choose from, from north clearwater to south to st Pete beach. If u go again. Check out weeki wachee springs on the way to clearwater area. Best place to rent kayaks or paddleboards and seeing manatees in the springs.
Great in depth review. Is your wife aware the headrest is to prevent whiplash? Understand it can be annoying but removing it is a genuine safety concern/risk.
My transmission went out at 90,000 miles!!! Get your transmission fluid changed around 50,000..no matter what they say..I am looking at $7,000 installed... NOT FLUSH!
did you know you can upgrade the speedometer to a full screen with animations and also upgrade the radio to a bigger one with youtube and all the other apps
Toyota seems to have an issue with the water pump. My 2017 highlander has 92K miles now. The water pump just failed, which I never experienced before with other vehicles.

My highlander makes a rumbling sound caused by body vibration when driving on concrete roads has anyone else had this problem?
