It’s having issues with the timing chain because you didn’t set the tension correctly. Those plugs are in 2 pieces so you can release the ratchet tensioner with the outer piece installed.
Love the sound of the SOHC idling away all cammed up. As much as a tough V8 sounds great, a 6 lumping away is a beautiful thing too.
Have to agree with you on that haha
Aw man, you have no luck with this Fairlane hahah. Sorry dude. Can't wait to keep watching and find out how it goes.
The joys of E series I've got my self a EF Fairmont same colour and boosted 5speed and e85 I know you're feels and only Just seen yours on RUclips from Summernats just gone
Didn't happen to wind the crank backwards before releasing the tensioner? I've never seen one do that, what a ball ache
Yeah we think that might have been what happened when we were doing the cam, we have the camshaft sprocket off, and when we put air into on of the cylinders to take a valve spring off, the motor turned back a bit, we are thinking that’s when it happened
@@HackshopGarage sounds likely, the chain bunched up and snapped its way through the guide.
Yeah, pretty sure we learnt that lesson the hard way haha
@@HackshopGarage I haven't watched the rotating assembly video yet but from my experience, these engines like a 30 thou top and 24 thou bottom ring gap. The Au engines tend to catch the top ring with boost and bend the rod. They're good for 320rwkw with a decent gap, I ran one on nitrous with no issues.
Do not use cork!! Try your luck with paper gaskets from platinum or use rtv black silicone gasket maker. Toyota have a great compound
Barra ECU on the SOHC?
Michael O'Callaghan barra ecu + pcmtec helluva lot cheaper than a haltec
We wouldn’t rule it out, when the time comes we will definitely look at all the options
Great videos guys. What was the magic number for the shifter lever? (hole to hole)
Thanks mate, 49mm hole to hole
Is that shed a kit and who builds it?
Great videos guys.
Thanks mate, It was a custom design, and was built by elite sheds in hoppers crossing
Keen for more vids.. fairlane got me here.. so how why did that break
Thanks mate, We will have a video out soon explaining what we think happened and how we fixed it mate 👍🏼
was that a NASON timing kit?
Yeah it was 👍🏼
You could say that was antikebabtic!!😂🤣😅
XE , 302 turbo and nos, nice.
Might be onto something here Bruce haha
Hey dudes, I have a turbo NL fairlane running a haltech and stock btr. Makes 460hp
Nice mate! How’d you go about setting up the haltech? Did you run a whole new loom?
Hackshop Garage basically it’s running piggyback currently but you can buy a btr manual kit for like $250 I’ve just cut my ignition and injectors and wired them to the haltech and then run teed into the sensors. The stock ecu runs the auto and dash etc still.
Yeah that’s what’s we were thinking of doing also. How did you find tuning it?
Hackshop Garage I had TONS of issues because I used the el style engine which is factory in NL with the dizzy. By the end I went with ef crank trigger and ls1 coils and it went perfect. Was tuned by nugget garage. I’ll put a dyno pull on my channel if you like.
Yeah fair enough, it’ll be a learning curve for us, that’s for sure. Sounds good though man
What your name for Facebook so I can add you my dad want to ask you same about his ef ford
Look on the bright side it could of happened when you were driving that would be bad
That’s exactly right, could have been a lot worse
Too much sohc power
