      It's a bug causing Baruuk to not be able to have red crits with the gal set bonus. It happens when you change a combo tier. I was able to repro it with the ceramic dagger really easily and it not only affects Baruuk but your melee requiring you to refresh your combo to get the crit values back. 12x combo Ceramic dagger + Blooodrush, Sac Steel, and Glad might you get Red! and regular Red crits with ceramic dagger but if you get your combo reset as Baruuk it will reset back to yellow and orange as if you dont have any combo for the ceramic dagger as well.
      It's not an undocumented change its a bug with the changes they made to melee as a whole. If it was an undocumented nerf I should still be hitting red! and regular red crits on the ceramic dagger when I drop out of desert wind after losing the gal bonus due to building combo with Desert wind.

      @@MortalMerc yes this is the long lasting bug from years ago. That’s why we ran Fists with Melee Guidance to have 0 combo duration. But as of yesterday, you can’t have 0 combo duration anymore.

    I suspect this change to the Combo Duration stat was to prevent any infinite 12x Heavy spam builds from popping up in the future. I do hope that they'll add an exception for Exalted melee weapons specifically. I'll make a suggestion post on the forums in a couple hours if someone else hasn't by then.

    Not liking the stealth combo nerf, but glad to see it doesn't affect the build TOO much.
    I never did quite figure out how to get perma-red crits before now, and now that I finally understand how, they made it more annoying 😒

      They didn't even stealth nerf it, it was in a previous patch notes from Whisper in the Walls, they even said they are making it so no one can do infinite x12 without using the finisher arcane, it's stupid but we all knew it'll come eventually

    So actually they mentioned this nerf in a few hot fixes ago. It was in direct relationship to how powerful Kullervo was w/ inf. Combo.

    I'm a lazy Baruuk main, build melee combo using Naramon and blocking incoming attacks. Gunner shows up? Even better, just get some range and let her fire away. After that I can easily keep 12x melee combo with Desert Wind.

    Really hope they change Desert Wind's ranged attacks to, at the very least, refresh combo duration if they're not going to let it build combo. Suggested this a long time ago since I thought Desert Wind was counter intuitive to combo building since the waves pushed enemes away from you. The solution I used for this is using Ready Steel, Ceramic Dagger, Corrupt Charge and Covert Lethality. All those together plus Ceramic Dagger's +100 combo evolution gives me 190 combo.

    Gladiator stat sticking seems to be possible with ceramic dagger incarnon. Just bring something good to stack the 2nd evolution (gun and blade) like the torid and once stacked it will stay at 9x which is enough through the gladiator sets to deal red crits in desert wind. This way we can go in desert wind and still build combo there perfectly fine and in case it ever resets it just goes back to 9x as long as you never heavy attack. Using a heavy attack bugs it out and you would need to turn off desert wind, heavy attack with ceramic dagger and let it rebuild combo before re-entering desert wind..
    Ever since tennokai became a thing Guardian Derision became an exilus mod which can be used on desert wind to just stand in place, block and build up combo (more efficient for combo building without having desolate hands activated).
    Still would recommend to have a panzer vulpaphyla with Tandem Bond to help out stacking even more.

    You can tank efficiency thanks to baruuk's high base energy. With 128% dur and 45% eff, elude will have a drain of 3.04 energy/sec, which can be easily countered by equilibrium.
    I went with p continuity, blind rage, transient fortitude, equilibrium, elusive retribuition, reactive storm and umbral intensify(i have a umbral forma on baruuk :shrug:). I skipped on survivability mods since desolate hands giving 90% dr seemed like more than enough for the content level i play normaly(200-300 sp) so you have a flex slot for whatever you want.
    (152% dur/45% eff/100% range/298% str)

    Didn't gaz have similar issue's with baruuk prior to this? I remember watching his video covering baruuk and the reason he used the new arcane that gives combo on finisher due to hiting an enemy with the fist breaking the combo count? I think he also used negative combo but purely so his fists couldn't build it up period and offloaded the combo building to the arcane itself? No idea if that's what you're talking about but it sounded vaguely familiar so I thought it would be worth mentioning.

    They also stealth nerfed the tennokai stat stick tech for exalted melee (a niche interaction for sure, but still). The interaction *was* that you put discipline's merit on your normal melee, and any other tennokai on the exalted melee (my go to was the reach and increased window duration one, opportunist's reach) and the exalted melee would still proc tennokai every 4 hits. Was really nice for valkyr. But alas, not only does it not work, but it in fact, if you run this exact set up, *turns off* tennokai for your exalted melee... why?

    Why don't you just use seismic bond since elude is a channeled ability alongside mystic bond for a free 30% efficiency + free ability casts. You can tank efficiency with that

      Stahlta's a good weapon, you can find use for it, or just have fun with it.
      As for the Chroma... Run Profit-taker I suppose? Lol

      @@sharkeatinpizza not really. Chroma with purple shards for melee crit makes a Xoris nuke one shot level cap enemies with armor. Stahlta has multiplicative Gun CO so it multiplies against Chroma’s Fury buff allowing it to go past damage cap really easily. Absolutely busted combinations even if the frame is limited in playstyle.

      this has the side effect of losing all combo whenever you exit your 4. That was what the stat stick setup was intended to fix.

      Indeed, like, the buffs it gives are nice: attack speed let's me take off arcane strike snd use something like arcane fury and the extra cd is a nice bonus, but the fact it caps at 30% with base 100% strength is so, so bad, even at 300% strength you only get 90% max buff which sure is nice for the attack speed, but for the cd is pretty meh, add to that the fact that baruuk has now more restrictive build requirements if you wanna run this augment making reaching 300% strength pretty hard.
      It either needs a buff or the cd and attack speed increases need to be separated.

    What really sucks about Elusive Retribution is that it shows up under the mod station, but not in my arsenal. Even bought a second one to see if it would fix it and nope. I cannot even equip his new augment.

    You don't need Melee Guidance to keep red crits on Baruuk. Run Dexterity arcanes and Naramon school for combo duration and punch mobs. If you accidentally punch a mob with your fist instead of the wave and generate a combo on Baruuks exalted, either upkeep that combo by punching more mobs with your fists, or simply turn your 4 off and then back on again, reseting your combo counter but keeping red crits from the 12x of your stat stick.
    I got a video of how this works, I think it's easy to manage and this shadow Melee Guidance nerf doesn't impact Baruuk at all cuz most of us Baruuk players already stopped using that mod.
    Nice video showcasing the new augment but as you've mentioned the amount of stats it requires for upkeep are too much to mod for, I'll stick to lull gameplay.

      I mean, the thing about melee guidance is specifically to be easier to keep red crits. Having to turn off exalted, resetting combo on statstick and building it all back up just to get your red crits back is exactly why this change sucks ass. The worst part is just accidentaly hiting a random guy and having to do it all again.

    Why not use archon vitality for double damage on the heat dmg your wind fists sometimes do? I noticed that i cuck myself with baruuk now too. I hope they bug fix this because any kinda of nerf on a frame uniquely special gimmick is not ok.

      because the heat that you saw was a 1 in a million chance that he hit something with a heat weakness. most things will have corrosive or radiation. making the archon mod useless.

    Either they fixed the red crit thing you mentioned or just massive skill issue because I've never had this issue even if I actually directly melee with desert wind. I run venka prime and once I get up to 13x, infinite red crits with desert wind and never drop it if I touch anything

    The fact I came back to infinite combo being nerfed …and they think I’m about to waste time grinding shards etc now ,,, back to cod I go….they really think nerfing the things we actually likes , helps the game 🤣

      Yeah same. Opening slam + find a group of enemies and slide attack them. Works fine for me (tho sometimes the enemies die too quick to gain combo lol)

      @@rove8620 not really it’s insanely easy to do. Hell you can even use a Vulpaphyla and get 12x without having to do shit. Not to mention it’s a bigger damage boost if you build it with your exalted weapon

    I really don’t get why this is such an issue. If you build properly reaching and maintaining 12x on baruuk isn’t that hard to do, and he doesn’t even need that much combo when you have an armor strip like pillage.

      For many, actively building combo on fists is annoying. And that 2, if you get pulled out of your fists by anything, you lose all combo instantly.

      @@Aznvasions I get it fairly quickly with opening slam and the pull slam that baruk has. gets my combo up within 10 secs if the enemies are plentiful.

    Kullervo subsume carries through sp Circuit in the pubs, no need for synergies or even strip.

    I used to really like playing Baruuk but it has become clear over time that building combo on him is extremely annoying and redundant. Trying to build combo with the fists is a nightmare, and now there is this issue where if you build combo with his melee, you have to not hit any enemy with his fists. He sure can be super powerful but I'd rather play any other Warframe at this point.
    I hope DE will notice that he is that annoying to play, and that his 4's waves building combo wouldn't make him more powerful, but just comfier.

      Eclipse is basically only useful for the damage reduction, you can probably health tank at level cap with Baruuk using it

    Melee Combo was never intended to be negative allowing infinites, DE has slowly been working toward fixing that problem because nearly half a dozen weapons in game have INFINITE holster combo along with mods that increase or decrease combo. The writing has been on the wall for years, now it comes to head. Tennokai is a thing, certain weapons can't lose combo passively, DE made it much easier to get higher efficiency and to keep 12x combos with all the recent content drops. Welcome back to what was the old norm, where you needed builds that werent intentionally abusing mechanics.

    Think its resonable that negative combo is no longer a thing cause it was obviously not intended to work like this
    Why so mad about this at all? Go in with tandem kavat or vulpa and youll never lose you combo again instead getting desert wind combo on top of your gladiator crit buff
    Just play a normal combo duration like you should

    Whaaa an obvious bug got fixed whaaaa, ok now on with the meaningful content.
    Augment is a neat idea but doesn't help with the main issue this ability has always had which is if you're actually playing Baruuk and using the rest of his kit it never triggers because you never get shot because the enemies are either 1. Asleep 2. Disarmed or 3. Dead.
    And you have something like 99% DR so why would you bother with an energy drain to prevent *some* attacks conditional to a direction.
    Eh, at least they're trying.

    I play wrath advance and stfu because imo this should have never been a thing. So. And I'm still doing great damage and easy bullying lvl 250 plus which imo is the normal high end because I'm not gonna sit on my ass in survival for 4 hours. Tired of hearing WA build is "not the optimal" i don't fucking care.
