I found my mom's old film camera, took the film canister, and accidentally overturned it, causing the film to become stuck. (Btw, this is my first time using a film camera, so I have no idea how it works.) I literally don't know what to do, but I found your video and finally got the film out of the canister. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
You're a genius. For over an hour I tried to get the film out of the canister with another technique where you stick a wet end of another film into the canister and try to pull them out together. It never worked out, but your way did. Made my day. Thank you.
This is my first time ever seeing a film and my stupid self had to get it stuck, and my dad would DISOWN ME if he finds out You just saved me literally I cannot thank you enough
Thank you very much, this helped me out when I didn't have any other film to use. I also used the rewind lever on my camera to help get the paper in since I didn't have enough leverage by hand, and the only paper I had was a little too bendy.
THANK YOU omg, i'm on vacation right now, i only have one film with me and i accidentally rewinded it when i tried loading my camera. i'm in a foreign country and couldn't find film anywhere, all i had was tape. definitely took several tries with different kinds of sturdy paper but i got there!! thank you
Thank you so much! First time shooting with film and I'm making just about every beginner mistake in the book lol. This time I rewound the film all the way when I still had some exposures left, used your method and saved my film. Thank you!
OH MY GOSH YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT HELP 😭💞 i had to roll my film back to the canister since my olympus mju isn't turning on and i had to fix something on the film loader and i dont have a spare film to do the other methods here on youtube 😭 YOU are a life saver i was so scared that i have no film roll to use for my upcoming trip
I used some horrible cheap tape, not sticky enough, I did like 10 tries, but in the end it worked, thank you so much, I saved a roll that wasn't shot that I accidentally rewinded too far.
This worked great! The things I used was the plastic backing on a paper USPS mail label, and I cut the plastic part to shape. Then I used some scotch tape, and it came out without at issue.
Thank you sooo muchh!!! I was really worried that I couldn't get the film out before new year so I tried and it worked for me!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Using another film lead didn't work, but this did! In my case, after the film is definitely stuck on, working the paper side to side and then pulling it out *slowly* did the trick.
Idk, why but it never works for me I had a roll of film laying around I accidentally let the leader slip in and here I am I have tried numerous methods, two cards in it, this one But none seems to work I can't get a film retriever neither do I have another film laying around Help please
Once the "new" film is inserted, I had to turn the "old" spool counter clockwise until it became quite tight to the point of slightly pulling the "new" roll. Try to put a good 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) until it really seems stuck, then pull it out. You probably don't want to make it too wet either.
I did this when lab ran out of leader retrieval tape. But when I am handle my own BW film I have this issue cause I do not roll all the way into spool. Simple as that. Wind one complete turn after you hear that disconnect. On auto wind and rewind you are bum unless you have a Canon T-90 and EOS 1N, 1N RS, 1-V, F3 with special back system
Yes. It just catches the film leader. Be careful when you pull so as not to expose the length of the film since it’s light sensitive; Film leader is ok.
Thank you for making this video, because of it, I was able to save my entire unused roll of film!

it's been a year and I need to know: did you shoot an already exposed film that was in there? what's the story?!

Lifesaver bro, I tried every other method like using another film leader or a negative and nothing worked, this worked first time
Absolutely brilliant work! You just helped me save ~30 exposures from certain doom!

Thank you so much! Kaso nahila ko ata siya ng super haba huhu di ba masisira?
Welcome. Yung na expose po wala na yun.
Can u use masking tape?
Scotch tape is sturdier. Masking tape runs the risk of breaking.
thank you so much for this!!!
Works like a charm 👍
Glad it helped!
Can we still use the film?
Yes. It just catches the film leader.
Be careful when you pull so as not to expose the length of the film since it’s light sensitive; Film leader is ok.
@@els-if yes this part is the same that would be exposed to daylight while loading the camera, so it's okay
Thank you so much!
Perfect video!!!
