omg dude, i just got a brand new cameraroll and accidentally rolled it all the way back! was going to throw it away but thought, i might aswell check youtube for some hacks! THANK YOU DUDE!!
What a life saver man! I thought there was no way to get my brand new film back. It took me two tries, but when it flew out on the second try I was thrilled!
I screwed up inserting a roll, i guess the teeth didnt catch the sprockets of the reel and was bummed at the thought id wasted a roll. You're an absolute life saver.
Gosh you're a lifesaver, film is hella expensive in my country and I felt I hadn't loaded my Yashica correctly and wanted to reload it, but unwittingly rolled in the entire spool. I panicked because I had just used 1 frame on the film and would have lost 35 if not for your help. I was right at the camera shop, bought another roll (since I'd use it anyway), and kept trying and trying to use the other roll to get the tab out and it miraculously popped out after many many tries. I was shooketh. God bless your soul. All is well again.
tried so many times i almost gave up, told myself to try one last time and yanked the film out with another film roll with all my heart and soul and it came out!!! thank you for this video!
Thank you so so much for the first tip about wetting the lead on another roll. Just got into film photography and thought the rolls were done for after I rewound them back in by accident. Your tutorial was quick and extremely easy to follow. Recovered the leads to both my rolls!!
I AM NEW TO FILM AND I JUST GOT A BATTERY AND A FILM ROLL FOR AN OLD CAMERA I HAD AND I WAS SO EXCITED BUT THEN I PULLED THE FILM ALL THE WAY INTO THE CARTRIDGE AND WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WITH MYSELF I ALMOST CRIED. I SPENT THE WHOLE AFTERNOON SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONS AND THIS WAS THE CLEAREST OF THEM ALL THANK YOU SO MUCH
Resurrected two of my film cameras from storage to do something different instead of digital. One of the film canisters the film had creeped back inside. I found your method for recovering the film and and all I can say is "AWESOME "! All the years of photography, I use to have a stainless steel strip but that is gone. Your method is so ingenious and it works, THANKS.
Thanks for this life-saving (money-saving really) tutorial! Accidentally rewound the film back in on a brand-new canister and was thrilled I could save it!
Went through so many videos trying to salvage my film canister (almost threw the film away, I thought it was a goner for sure) and your video did the trick!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much!! After a day and "20" exposures I realised that the first time I'd inserted my roll, it hadn't engaged with the sprocket. To save myself from the pickle, I tried putting the film in again, and I accidentally spun it all the way in. So glad I found this video now, helped me get my film out!
THANK YOU! i thought i was just going to have to accept the loss on this roll but lo and behold, this worked!!! this is hands down the most useful trick i’ve learned in ages!!
This video was explained a thousand times better than the other one i was watching. Got it first try with your video. Other ones are trash at explaining it properly. Thank you so much!
You saved me a roll of film thank you!! I am just learning about film photography as a hobbyist. Film is not cheap these days and I had an issue with a film camera I bought at a yard sale. I rewound the film and took a chance that I could find a YT on how to get my film back out of the container. Your video came up and on the second attempt I had success!! Thanks again. With the resurgence in film photography, this will be a great help for others as well.
i wachted four diferent videos before youtube suggested me this and was the only one that actually helped me to take the film out and by just using water and a pice of and old x-ray cause i didn't have another film. your explanation was really clear and even i who cannot speak english fluently understood it :) thank you soooooo much!!!!!
This trick saved my new roll of film!! I literally gasped when I saw it pop out. I didn't even get the second film to roll inside, but just yanking out the 1 inch that I shoved inside seemed to do the trick. Lifesaver!!!
I loaded a roll of expired film in my Nikon F65 with a wonky lead. The camera decided to roll it back into the canister after I shot one exposure 😂. Thank you so much. It worked on the 3rd try by using another piece of film. Such rewarding magic seeing that film lead pop back out.
After taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Morocco from Canada last week and today finding out my roll hadn't been loaded properly... managed to salvage the unused roll at least with your video. Thank you!
I tried this for a while to no avail. Heard the click but then it would just spin back... realized the trick was to put pressure on the wind-up thing once you hear the click (to ensure it doesn't slide back). Keep pressure there until the second reel is in and it should work. Thanks for the video!
YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE OMG I HAVE MY FINALS DUE IN TWO DAYS AND I WAS NEEDED TO SHOOT AND DEVELOP MY FILM TOMORROW SO WHEN I ROLLED IT BACK IN, I ALMOST CRIED THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😭😭😭
What a hero! With your help, I was able to save a much prized B&W 3200 ASA film, after it was sucked in by a Contax camera I just bought on eBay... pressed the wrong button. But this... after three attempts, it so worked!
thank you!! this saved my life! had pretty much given up but turned to google in a last attempt to save my film ... sure enough, after 2 tries, this method worked. (I used an old strip of film and it worked just fine).
Thank you very much for this video, I found it very useful, I had the same issue that I assume many viewers on this video had. The cost of film these days is far too much to just chuck an unused canister into the trash. Again, thank you.
I didnt even need to do the whole thing i just stuck the tip of the film in about 3cm, noticed i was doing it wrong, so i pulled it out and the film just popped right out, thank you!
I just walked around the empty streets of NYC (wall street) and when I went to rewind the film . It was even on my reel. Thank you to your video. I at least have my ektrachrome. Worked perfectly 👌
I'm so so so glad I found u and this video 💕🙈 I am new to film and did a mistake but thanks to u I saved a roll of film 😊 maybe I ruined some photos from the second roll but now at least I haven't lost a whole roll of 36 photos, maybe only lost 10 in total 🙈 I am so grateful for u, thank u so so much 💕😊
It's little hacks like this that really get me going. Still laughing over how well this worked. Thank you so much for sharing! You just saved me from wasting a whole roll of film
Thank you so much, brother. My girlfriend bought me this film and I accidentally rolled it in. A big thanks to you, I retrieve it using your method :))
Oh my God! It worked!! Thank you so much!!! I tried so many ways but only your way works like a charm!! Now I don’t have to think about buying the retriever anymore.
This helped me. It took a few rotations to figure out where the film would “reset” and pass the opening of the canister. I ended up rotating it about 3/4ters before it clicked, licked the “rescue” film, pushed it it, and rolled the stuck film about half a rotation where I then pulled the rescue film until it came out. First try!
Thanks! I couldn’t for the life of me retrieve my film from the canister until I watched the way you showed and explained it in this particular video👍🏼
Thank you so much, im completely new to using film and while testing things out i wound my film into the canister, i had accepted defeat but your video helped me and I managed to retrieve the film. Thank you
This was so helpful! Thank you so much. I was so sad because I thought I had lost the film and I just took like 4 pictures. You saved my life. Than you!!b
Wow it really works! If your canister doesn't click, then there's probably a point where the resistance increases up to a point where the spool loosens again. You wanna wind it back to that point where it's just about to get loose and then insert the other piece of film, wind it back a little more, and just pull. You don't have to pull hard either, doing it gently also seems to work.
Shot two or three frames of Cinestill Double X on an unfamiliar to me Nikon F55. Other cameras have needed the end of a paperclip to rewind mid-roll. Beware! this one just needs a misdirected attempt to release the flash and one other button press at the same time (still not sure which) for disaster to strike. Excellent video, day saved at the second attempt. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. It didn't work on the first try, but it worked when I tried it again. The tip of the film was folded inside the roll, so it was a bit hard to pull it.
I tried this a couple of times and thought it didn't work. Then I decided I had nothing to lose! Except the new roll of film so did it again and again and got it out! Takes a little practice to feel the catch, turn the spool again to try etc but ultimately it worked and I got my pictures. Oh yes and I think I had to turn it a few times? Can't remember exactly but just kept trying. Don't give up! And thanks so much!
omg dude, i just got a brand new cameraroll and accidentally rolled it all the way back! was going to throw it away but thought, i might aswell check youtube for some hacks! THANK YOU DUDE!!
lol saaame
sameee. this just saved mee
Same
I feel you bro 😂😂😂
same dude same.
What a life saver man! I thought there was no way to get my brand new film back. It took me two tries, but when it flew out on the second try I was thrilled!

You're welcome!
THIS. I had to take a break, cook some soup, eat it and voila. It's out.
Thank you so so much for the first tip about wetting the lead on another roll. Just got into film photography and thought the rolls were done for after I rewound them back in by accident. Your tutorial was quick and extremely easy to follow. Recovered the leads to both my rolls!!
I’ve been doing this for a good 45 mins until I realized. The FAST PULL IS WHAT I NEEDED! Thank you so much you have saved my life
Same! 😂😂😂
I SPENT THE WHOLE AFTERNOON SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONS AND THIS WAS THE CLEAREST OF THEM ALL THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thank god for the film photog community, I had a reel that I accidentally wound back into itself right before a trip tomorrow, you've saved my life
You saved me 25 exposures - I'm very new to film photography and rolled the film on accident way before I was supposed to. Thanks!
Resurrected two of my film cameras from storage to do something different instead of digital. One of the film canisters the film had creeped back inside. I found your method for recovering the film and and all I can say is "AWESOME "! All the years of photography, I use to have a stainless steel strip but that is gone. Went through so many videos trying to salvage my film canister (almost threw the film away, I thought it was a goner for sure) and your video did the trick!! Thank you so much!!
I have spent a year struggling to do this using a tool and now I tried this and first time it worked. Amazing. Thank you.
Literally accidentally rewinded my very first roll of film after loading it in 😭 Panicked for a few mins but this video saved me!! Thank you!!
Accidentally auto-rewound a roll of film back into the canister, this worked amazingly well! Just saved a $15 roll of portra, thank you!
Don't give up!! I had to try it 25-35 times before I got the end out!! I used two old film strips like the tool and that finally worked
man i just started using film camera and i got scared when i realized i had let the film go into the canister 😭
THANK YOU! i thought i was just going to have to accept the loss on this roll but lo and behold, this worked!!! this is hands down the most useful trick i’ve learned in ages!!
This video was explained a thousand times better than the other one i was watching. Got it first try with your video. Other ones are trash at explaining it properly. Thank you so much!

Have just done this with a roll of 35mm 'lomochrome metropolis' (blooming expensive in UK). You are a xxxxxxxx genius. Many thanks from Birmingham.
THANK YOU!!! i accidentally reloaded my film two hours before leaving for a trip abroad, i almost cried and you saved me
i wachted four diferent videos before youtube suggested me this and was the only one that actually helped me to take the film out and by just using water and a pice of and old x-ray cause i didn't have another film. your explanation was really clear and even i who cannot speak english fluently understood it :) thank you soooooo much!!!!!
What a legend! Worked like a charm. Being a clumsy person myself, if it works for me, I'm sure it works for most people out there. Thank you.
I just want to say that it worked with another roll of film! I am so happy! Thank you!
I was NOT hopeful it would work but I ended up letting out a big "WOWWW" as I quickly pulled and the film came out gracefully
Thank you!!
I did this and literally gasped when it worked!! Thank you sooo much
THANK U so much :”-) i was ready to pry open the canister lol.....
SAME HERE HAHAHA :,)
That's how I lost 72 lovely shots 🤡
Good grief me too I was PISSED!! Got it sorted though!
You saved my life! It took my two tries and the film actually came out!! Thank you so much!
This trick saved my new roll of film!! I literally gasped when I saw it pop out. I didn't even get the second film to roll inside, but just yanking out the 1 inch that I shoved inside seemed to do the trick. Lifesaver!!!
got the tool - too me a few tries - but saved 4 of my rolls! Thank you!
i know this video is 4 years old but it just saved my roll of film 🎉 thank you! !!!!!!!
Good tip. Whoever came up with this technique was an out of the box thinker!
I loaded a roll of expired film in my Nikon F65 with a wonky lead. The camera decided to roll it back into the canister after I shot one exposure 😂. Thank you so much. It worked on the 3rd try by using another piece of film. Such rewarding magic seeing that film lead pop back out.
Thanks man, i got my Roll back. Since like im paying expensive for Rolls it made me sad but now im happy lol
Thanks for your helpful video! What if don’t have another film roll or the tool you used? Do I have another option by any chance?
I really didn’t think this would work, but when I got the film back out on a first try I was like “woah” 😄 thank you so much
After taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Morocco from Canada last week and today finding out my roll hadn't been loaded properly... managed to salvage the unused roll at least with your video. Thank you!

I'll have to admit I was skeptical at first, but somehow it worked fantastically. Succeeded on the first try! Thank you so much for this :)
YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE OMG
I HAVE MY FINALS DUE IN TWO DAYS AND I WAS NEEDED TO SHOOT AND DEVELOP MY FILM TOMORROW SO WHEN I ROLLED IT BACK IN, I ALMOST CRIED

DONT GIVE UP, IT DOES WORK!

This was a lifesaver. Can’t thank you enough.
Took me about 5 tries but finally worked! Saved me 20 exposures of (expired) film
maybe my favorite youtube video. Come back to it every time, thanks so much
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! The first method worked for me and saved me a roll of Tri-X! Much appreciate the very clear, concise instructions.
Thank you very much for this video, I found it very useful, I had the same issue that I assume many viewers on this video had. The cost of film these days is far too much to just chuck an unused canister into the trash. Again, thank you.

You're an absolute legend for this. You're going into the will!
I just bought film and took one picture then accidentally rolled it back in lol. It’s magic that made my day
I just walked around the empty streets of NYC (wall street) and when I went to rewind the film . It was even on my reel. Thank you to your video. I at least have my ektrachrome. Worked perfectly 👌

Worked like a charm, thank you ! Sold my film camera and wasn’t sure if I could reuse my Hp5 without buying that retriever
This video was much more detailed than the others and was the only one that worked for me! Thank you so much!!
IT FUCKING WORKED! It took 4 tries and I used a strip of reveled pictures that I was using as a book marker. You are a life saver!
Thank you

Thank you so much dude! I was so scared I thought I wasted a new film roll but now I got it out
You just saved a perfectly good roll of Ektar 100 while I'm in Belize. Thank god I thought to bring 2 rolls, and thank YOU for this video!
Awesome explanation. I appreciate going into detail about the ritual of sounds and feelings involved lol.
RIP Neopan Acros 100. Gonna miss that film.
This video just saved me some money, thank you! First time using film and I thought I royally messed up.
So freaking helpful! This video explains it so well and now I don’t have to waste a perfectly good roll of film. Thank you!!!
It actually worked! Went exactly the same way as in your video. Thank you so much!
Wow it really works! If your canister doesn't click, then there's probably a point where the resistance increases up to a point where the spool loosens again. IT WORKS! i accedentally rolled up the film too much when unloading it and got really scared that i lost everything but this saved me
Saved a full roll of film with this method! Thank you!
Thank you for this video. It didn't work on the first try, but it worked when I tried it again. The tip of the film was folded inside the roll, so it was a bit hard to pull it.
this saved me from wasting a whole roll a film!!! thx a million.

It's crazy how well this works. Thank you so much dude!
I screwed up trying this so many times the film isn’t even sticky anymore 😂😭
Straight to the point. Very informative! Thank you sir!
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I didn't think I could it. Worked on 2nd attempt. Really appreciate it!
Holy...it took me 4 times but it worked! Just had to put the 2nd roll in more. Thank you so much.
