It is ridiculous that they were passed over for SO MANY YEARS, especially when some barely more than one-hit-wonders are selected. The Moody Blues have such a catalogue of great music, and span decades. I am happy for them, but it is a shame it took so long.
Not just the one hit wonders, but the fact the so called r&r hall of fame inducted Eminem, Beyonce, pink, Madonna. None of that meets the definition of rock. It took rush, the moody blues, heart, and others entirely too long. Whoever does the nomination process should be replaced
Without a doubt one of the most talented songwriting and performing bands in the history of rock and roll. Thank you all for coming along with me on life's journey. Bravissimo!!!
I'm really grateful and really happy to see The Moody Blues in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after all these years of being passed up for nominations! It's so surreal that they are in the Hall of Fame now! They have been one of my favorite bands since I was 5 years old when my late father turned me onto them to help me sleep at night to their music when I didn't like being alone at night in my bedroom! Justin Hayward is also a very underrated guitarist too!
And so is John, who wrote this song, as well as many of their best, most famous and most innovative songs. Justin, Justin, Justin. It's all you hear. You'd think this was a solo act, not a band.
John is a talent, for sure, but it’s Justin’s songcraft that gave them a long-term career. There would be no Moody Blues as we know them without Justin. And Justin’s guitar work really is excellent.
They say better late than never but the Moodies deserved this a long damn time ago. They are a legendary band. Ray Thomas never got to be included in this. I have seen the Moodies in concert 23 times. I'm so happy to have been born at the right time to blessed with their great music. Great singers and songwriters
@andrewdonohue1853 I was lucky that the Moodies toured a lot in my state. Glad you got to see them even once. Great memory to hold on to. Long live great music 🎵🎶🎸🎸🎼🎹🎶🎵🎸🎸
This should've been a great opening number in the wake of their induction. Justin's opening phrase should've been, "We may be inducted into Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, as are the others tonight, but tonight, we're just singers in a rock and roll band."
Years ago they came to Macon, Ga. Turned out to be my girl friend's (now my wife of 37 years) first rock concert... Not a bad start IMHO... little late, but still...
A scandal that it took so long. Edge is seventy bloody seven and poor Ray Thomas dead before they were recognised. The cliques who decide who gets in should be ashamed of themselves.
I boycotted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until The Moody Blues were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I listen to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame radio on Sirius XM and sadly out of all the times I listen to it, I've only heard the Moody Blues once! I wonder if the DJs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame radio station like The Moody Blues as much as Jann Wenner does.
This is great!Hayward really shows what a terrific guitarist he is.Loved the Lodge Hayward duet. Shame that Edge was too old to kill the drums as he used to. The band wrote this song as a counterweight to all the praise of their symphonic style.

Ray had just died, and Mike was battling dementia, from which he eventually succumbed to, in 2024. Mike was the last of the original Moody Blues lineup to pass on. Their original singer passed in 2004, followed by Ray Thomas in 2018, Graeme Edge in 2021, Denny Laine in 2022, and Mike Pinder, in 2024. Justin and John joined the group just before they started recording "Days of future passed," in 1966.
Buried in the mix, under layers of sound. I agree that a more stripped-down, bass-driven presentation of this song might be better, like the version they did in 1984 at Wembley.
One of them. In later years they went to a two-drummer setup like The Doobie Bros. Graeme Edge, the drummer you see in the closeups, is the original drummer, but from some angles you can see the second guy.
It’s criminal that Mike Pinder wasn’t allowed to perform with his band, and that Ray passed away before they were honored, but the RARHOF is a bloody joke, and should be shunned by our musical heroes! 🖕
@@Syfoll heaven forbid one of their fans hear someone else's voice other than Justin or John. Look up the backstory on sur le mur album, Ray Thomas's voice was removed from all vocal tracks leaving only Justin and John's voices. Those guys are egotistical douchbags.
@@billskalicky5400 Denny Laine for sure didn't want to. He was in the band for like a year and did a lot after that, like Wings and Ginger Baker's Air Force. I don't see why he'd be attached to the Moodies' music.
@@Syfoll are you going to say the same thing about Mike Pinder? I hope not. Without Mike Pinder, nights in white satin would not have been a breakthrough single.
Just my opinion, but the Moodys are one of the greatest bands in history. They helped shape me starting a very long time ago
Agreed ❤️🎵
The song isn't the same without Ray Thomas. His voice rounded out Justin's and John's. RIP Ray Thomas. What an incredible legacy you left us.
That was great! They play the guitar better than most musicians out there….” Love The Moody Blues! “ 👍👏👏👏♥️

RIP Graeme Edge.. now singing (drumming) in that great band in heaven!!
With Ray Thomas and Timothy Leary who is outside looking in.
If there is a band in heaven we all Neil peart is on drums, maybe tom petty on vocals
The "Moodies" still doing it rewinding the time machine.
A jazzy version of the greatest song is always welcomed in my playlist.
This is just gr8 John's rocky hit song from SS album and Justin's gr8 guitar rifts at the R&RHOF in honour of their long awaited award 💖

These guys are the best!! I've loved them since childhood!! ❤️ Unfortunately time waits for no one..😥
WOW shows song like this never grow old ..and they do such an awesome job even after all these years
R.I.P. Graeme Edge & Ray Thomas
Rest in peace... best drummer
Best and most prolific band ever! Thank you for posting!
Have always loved The Moody Blues. Beautiful songs that are timeless. Justin is a genius

They are wonderful.
Only John and Justin now one of the best bands ever
I love this band. I bought every album and saw them live in 2010 in the seventh row!
This should've been a great opening number in the wake of their induction.
Justin's opening phrase should've been, "We may be inducted into Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, as are the others tonight, but tonight, we're just singers in a rock and roll band."
John and justin playing together. Sweet!
Too much cool.
Fabulous best music ever saw them in concert best I was ever at loved it👍👍👍👍💕

Blame it on Jann Wenner. When he finally left the board, the Moodies got in.

I remember riding in my dads vehicle listening to MB on 8 track.

Lodge and Hayward’s voices still sound amazing. Too bad they didn’t have Ray or Mike to help fill in the vocals but still, fantastic.

Where the heck is the pulsating bass section that helped make this such a big hit?
?

Clicque
Can you imagine somebody like Justin Bieber being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Neither can I.
Justin Hayward is such an underrated guitarist. Nonetheless, Graeme seems like he's having fun behind that drum kit.
Is the drummer here the original drummer?
Yes
One of them. In later years they went to a two-drummer setup like The Doobie Bros. Graeme Edge, the drummer you see in the closeups, is the original drummer, but from some angles you can see the second guy.
When they finished the people in the front were just sitting there, seriously?
That's the RRHOF audience for you. They deserve a jump up standing yelling ovation !
shut up
I thought that was a good version. I remember seeing them early 70's.

Mike was battling Dementia at the time. That's why.
I will never understand why Mike Pinder and Denny Laine were not invited to play on stage. It looks like some egos got in the way:(

I love my Moodies, but this performance is SO fake in so many ways.
Not even half the power of the original. Pathetic.
I know, I especially wanted to see Mike Pinder and Denny Laine
It was pathetic but what do you expect they are both over seventy do you honestly expect perfection
I bet you couldn't do anything close to this when you are in your seventies !!!
Jeez, what do you expect ?
This version had plenty of power.
