    Great video mate. I own 3 Vintage brand guitars. I can tell you….as a Gibson LP/ ES-139 player, my Vintage V100 and V500 series guitars absolutely impress me. All they need is a very good set up, and you’re ready to roll.

    I recently bought the V62 relic version and slightly yellow with satin finish throughout and absolutely love it!
    I believe guitars are getting cheaper myself as the glut of new guitars and used music stores are fully stocked lately (results of the economy and start of the "pandemic purge" has begun. Cheers!

      Its a weird balance because theres equal pressure at the moment of things driving guitar price down (reasons you mentioned) aswell as equal pressure of things driving them up.

    Vintage guitars are unbelievable bang for your buck, i have a v100 and the v6 hendrix strat. I have had some vintage guitars in the past that got sent back for the pickups cutting out due to the electronics, if they improved the wiring and used cts pots, orange caps etc these guitars would be unbeatable at this price point and I'm sure customers wouldn't mind paying the extra £50-£60 for the better electronics. The wilkinson hardware is flawless at doing what its supose to do and wilkinson pups are brilliant!! Awesome guitars once setup, guitar for life!!

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  2 года назад +1

      Your so right, and yano what i dont know why they dont do that just to really cement themselves and get the respect among players back for good. I upgrade peoples guitars all the time to CTS pots and better caps and it really doesnt cost that much.... Ive began talking to the guys at JHS quite regular and im going to bother them nonstop about it. Maybe if this channel grows theyll listen hahaha

      @@Paul-D hopefully they will listen as they are brilliant guitars but the electronics really do let them down. I opened up the back of my v100 and it was like a tin of spaghetti!

  • @davidstorm4015
    @davidstorm4015 Год назад

    I have had one of these for about 4 years, it's lovely to play, but could stand an upgrade on the electronics. I bought a quality wiring loom with CTS pots, braided wire and a good Oak Grigsby switch, this layout also adds a fourth switch position, which is the bridge and neck in series configuration, like a humbucker. It made the guitar more flexible from a tones point of view and improved the sound quite a bit. The only criticism I can make of mine is that the tuners are not the best, a bit stiff to operate, but the guitar stays in tune no problem, it's rock solid.

    Thanks mate. I bought a V62 ($750 AUS) and still watch the reviews sometimes to cement my decision. I think it's pretty good but I think I suffered from the period of laxness in quality you were rambling about. It was not set up well when I got it - buzzes, plus a string-snagging fret. Plus the paint job was (literally) half done. Bought the last one In Australia before covid. Sounds sweet and classic on the neck, really bright on the bridge. Some tone handling is needed. Hardware is solid.

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  Год назад +1

      I still rate them as great guitars, but the ramble is always needed when discussing vintage guitars. I have had to be the one to make sure there right when anyones got one through me. But still, once there right i think they stand for a great guitar that can last years, a cheap upgrade of the pots is always welcomed by the stock pups too. Thanks for stopping by

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  10 месяцев назад +1

      Cool its just something to bear in mind. Ive had quite a lot of Vintage guitars from my shop days - and although I 100% think there some of the best value for money guitars out there, they are also the brand that often arrives the worst out of the box.
      Things like fret work, nut slots, and just general poor intonation/action. All things that can be sorted but things you definitely want sorting. Given most guitar buyers at the price point won't know how to do that themselves, or use a guitar tech, its lead to a decline in vintage reputation over recent years.
      That being said though - there's always the exception to the rule and you could get one brand new that needs nothing - like with any brand.

    Just wondering if you're able to comment on how the neck on the v62 compares to the v52, and how they both compare in relation to a Classic Vibe. I have a Classic Vibe but I find the neck strains my hand. I've no problem with Squire Strats, but there's something with the Vibe's neck that doesn't suit my hand. So the V62 and V52 have very different necks aside from one being maple and the other rosewood*
      The 62 is much more 60s fender like and the 52 is much fatter. The classic vibe necks from about 2015/16 onwards got alot slimmer for some reason and i too really dont get on with those. The original ones were much better.
