Last year my dermatologist recommended Skinceuticals as well as other brands for hypertension since lasers are not an option for me until I've exhausted a more less invasive treatment. I decided to start with Skinceuticals. I love the CE ferulic, Triple Lipid and even the Phloretin. I've spent over 1k in the last 6 months on my regimen including tretinoin, dermabrasion and peels. And daily cold or icy dips to reduce inflammation which exasperates hyperpigmentation and melasma. Well worth it! My skin looks great and it's recovering from the sun damage, thanks to the Florida sun. I've now allocated 2k a year to maintain my skincare and treatments. As I age I'm aware that budget will increase. Thanks for the review and information!!
@@domtekos7761 I'm sorry I don't know what EJ Ferulic acid is but I use and alternate between CE ferulic acid from skinceuticals in the morning followed by sunscreen and I've seen huge improvement. Must still limit sun exposure!! *Ferulic Acid and Tretinoin- cannot be use together* Hope my experience helps, but please please check with a dermatologist.
@@kungfumind. sorry. I corrected that typo my autocorrect. I am talking about the same stuff you use from skin ceuticals. Thanks for letting me know they should not be used together. Hmm now I'm wondering if it's better to use the Ferulic acid or the Tretnoin generally if I can't use them both. Thank you.
@@domtekos7761 no worries 😁 You should use the CE Ferulic in the morning and tretinoin at night with moisturizer. You should use both just not together.
Oh Dr. this was fantastic!! I as one who uses medical grade skincare really appreciate this lesson. So interesting that we are paying mostly for the name. I’d like to know the products you would recommend vs the products you’re reviewing. Penn Smith does a “buy this and not that” series that’s really interesting as well. Thanks so much🌸
This is expensive products! It is very informative to know what works and why. It’s also great when you talked about not only the smell but feel of the products. I keep hearing what bad things fragrances do to our skin. Thanks 😊
Both vit C and E are sometimes used as stabilisers in the product. So when you see them at the bottom of the list, it is added for the product itself, and in such low doses that it most likely has no effect on the skin at all. That being said, with the vit C and FA you don't need that vit E anyway.
I love your videos! you are so honest, down to earth, and breakdown what is a great formula/ingredients vs more marketing activities. I now have the CE Ferulic on my wishlist, good to know that your colleagues also privately use it - speaks for the formula, thanks a lot!
thank you for your content Dr. Lim. Wish all this skincare knowledge had been available back when I was 29 and asking a derm for help with my single wrinkle near my eye (lol). she had me start Renova - hardly explained anything about it; didn't even mention how to buffer it. I burned my face off - and didn't go back to vitamin A for 15 years :(. Younger folks are so lucky to have all this info about sunscreen and actives... and derms providing comprehensive online info...
This is awesome! Thank you so much for reviewing the skinCeuticals products as I have been interested in purchasing them. Could you please do more unboxing videos. Would be good to know what other budget friendly products you would recommend instead of the CE Ferulic Acid. Would you be able to cover The Ordinary range perhaps?
This is useful. Particularly regarding the ingredients and if the product actually contains enough to do anything. The information regarding Hyaluronic Acid not being much use applied on top of the skin is also good to know and lets consumers avoid spending on products that may not benefit as much as something else. The price point of these products is definitely a detraction. I would be interested in a video like this on your most recommended skin care essentials as well as some cheaper & more expensive alternatives to your favourites. Thanks
I’ve used both and surprisingly the one made by Timeless Skincare was noticeably better. The Skinceuticals serum definitely improves your skin but one by Timeless makes my skin look far more even & radiant.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
The biggest question/concern about SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic is whether or not the oxidation process impacts the efficacy of the product. SkinCeuticals says no, but many RUclips channels state that the company isn't going to say otherwise. Since I have not seen my dermatologist since the Pandemic began in USA, I'm hoping you are able to weigh in with your opinion. Many thanks!
The CE Ferulic is my favorite product, has been for years. It is far superior to every other vitamin c I've tried; timeless, maelove, Paula's choice, The Ordinary, The Inky List, etc. I keep going back to it and have for at least the last 10 years. My only complaint is that it oxidizes fairly quickly. I can't seem to get it to last past about 3-4 months. Seems to have gotten worse since they were purchased by LOreal. If they changed to a pump instead of a dropper I would be over the moon! This is the only product I continue to use since they were bought. The formulas of their other products changed and they just aren't as good. If your rep is reading comments, "please go back to the original Emollience, the day and night for oily, the milky cleanser and the blemish and age".
@@lukasbeacon372 It will last approx. 4 1/2 months if you're using 4-5 drops per day. It will start to oxidize (turn yellow) not too long after it's been opened, even when kept in the fridge. However, don't worry about it because there's nothing that will prevent this. It's a natural process. Just use it up in a timely manner, and don't try to make it last for a year!! It will continue to get darker the longer you keep it. It's best to use it up when it's fresh!
Hello Dr D, greetings from Canada. I am interested in SkinMedica,in particular the TNS Essential Serum. It is quite expensive $260, and I would like to know if it is worth using. Keep up the great job. Paula
Amazing video!! 1. How do you dilute the 1% retinol down without compromising the ingredients (with another serum etc)? 2. With Hyualaronic acid, should it be applied as 1st or last serum (after cleansing of course)? You mentioned applying it pre retinol to increase the absorption, is this the same for all serums. Or does the HA work best for moisture when applied pre other serums? Thanks!
Thank you Dr. Lim. I am an Aesthetician and 25 years ago learned about and began using a skincare company called Hylunia. Soon after I moved abroad and could no longer receive it products from the U.S. Recently I considered opening a skincare salon and searched for the Hylunia company and found they are still in existence and have expanded their professional and home care lines. They presently have two lines for both professional and home care use. One is called Hylunia and the other is Hymed. Hymed is for doctors and Aestheticians that have a supervising doctor in office. For a few years I have been using NeoStrata (because of your helpful and informative videos) and Exuviance but am very interested in the efficacy of the Hylunia and Hymed products since most if not all of their products are completely free from toxins and fragrance. Their products were quite good 25 years ago especially for sensitive skin types so I would hope they are perhaps even better now but I am unclear about their efficacy. I have heard that doctors who had been carrying the Skinceutical products switched to the Hylunia and Hymed products for their patients due to irritation that arose from some of the irritating ingredients in some of the Skinceutical products especially after laser procedures etc. Please can you do a review on Hylunia/Hymed products? Thank you very much, and I fully enjoy and appreciate all of your videos!
I wish I have freebies too...Skin Ceuticals is too expensive for my budget especially their hero CE Ferulic Acid. And so I ended up using another dupe from Timeless, So far I am loving it :)
It’s like the “gold standard” it’s the vitamin c serum with any/most scientific research to prove its efficacy and they have patented I believe their formulation or percentage since it’s proven to be the one that works for its purpose. However I advocate you should pay the big bucks on a good sunscreen you like and would wear repeated since unprotected UV exposer constitutes 80% of aging.
I'd get the CE ferulic, a great spf like La Roche or Skinceuticals or Coola. Maintain with Alpha Hydrox from Neoteric Cosmetics, at night if you're not on tretinoin or retinol. Along with Hyaluronic acid at night. The vitamin C, Sunblock and moisturizer will extend your collagen retention. Good luck.
Would the C E Ferulic oxidise in the 6-9 months? That sounds like a really long time and I thought Vitamin C is highly unstable. Thanks for a great video!
Wow what have you done - you look so much younger! - did you have a beard or something? not sure but your skin looks amazing - I use to love skinceuticals - haven’t used them for ages - I might look at buying the CE - I’ve noticed I have got pigmentation on both my face cheeks in the past few weeks that I didn’t have before, do you recommend laser pigmentation removal? I have had it done so many times for last ten years and haven’t had it done for seven months - but curious why it has come back worse -the past few weeks . Thank you
Skinceuticals is hit or miss for me. I don’t like their products with essential oils. I wanted to like their triple lipid moisturizer, however it has peppermint oil and gave me a rash when I used it. I do like their CE Ferulic and physical fusion sunscreen.
The HA intensifier works well, but I stopped using it because it makes my skin sticky. Have since moved on to SkinMedica's HA5. No regrets on the HA5 other than the huge price tag ($178.00 USD)
I fully agree with you, HA from skinceuticals is nice but extremely sticky and it does not bode well with my other La prairie products I use. I felt the one from B. Straum, Ordinary and Dr. Denis much smother in the skin. I have just one question what retinol is the strongest (i.e. 1.00 skinceuticals, or tretinoin with prescription) and if one cannot get a prescription which one of the many out there would you recommend? I tried the 0.3 from skinceuticals it does nothing for my skin, I got the granactive 5% from Ordinary but have not seen any effects as of yet, got it a couple of weeks ago. I got the 11 forehead wrinkles saying hi every morning a bit fed-up. Using patches overnight which is great as it does not allow the forehead to wrinkle during night but want to attack the root of the problem without having to end up using botulinum toxin on my forehead. What would you recommend?

Have you tried Drunk Elephant C-Firma compare to the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic acid serum? 💖 Since they have a very similar active ingredient list... I think L’oreal who own SkinCeuticals even tried to sue Drunk Elephant back in 2008 for being a “dupe”... ?? 🤔
I LOVE their recovery system that I use after a deeper microneedling. BTW, you are talking about how you get to much and I am over here across the pond thinking......don’t waste it. I will take it. 😂
Thank you for this! I'm a fan of Skinceuticals and I'm always keen to learn your perspective on ingredients. What struck me are your point on interest in science vs. pseudo-science, and how dermatologists like yourself are keeping abreast of where skincare is heading. Can you also please share with us your thoughts on Dr. Barbara Sturm line? Her anti-inflammatory and non-aggressive approach is interesting, and would love to learn your thoughts on that esp. on ingredients used vis-à-vis price point.
Lucky you!! 😂 I'm looking for something to lift and firm my upper eyelids. I've always had heavy droopy lids and deep set eyes but with age I need to firm them up a bit ♥️
I would be interested in a review of Obagi Retivance. I have been using this product for several months from my MedSpa, and it causes absolutely no irritation and has a very nice texture on the skin. Therefore, I am wondering if it is actually working?
I would never spend this much on a skincare product. Topically you are only going to achieve so much and I don't think upper price range products will work magic compared to cheaper alternatives. I use Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow, which is essentially a dupe of the CE Ferulic for €10.50 (it turned yellowish after a month and a half the first time I used it so I keep it in the fridge now to keep it clear). I also use their retinaldehyde product because it is the cheapest, medium strength, cosmetically elegant, otc vitamin a product I have found at €12.50. I found the HPR products ineffective and The Ordinary's 1% in Squalane seemed to work but it wasn't very nice to use.
Also, I don't understand why the CE Ferulic is yellow to begin with. I have seen some people use it and it literally looks brown. The one I buy comes clear and becomes a pale yellow by the end of use or stays clear in the fridge. If it came yellow I probably wouldn't repurchase.
I also have the skinceuticals triple lipds doc and it has fragrance. 😞 so i dont usually use it. I bought it what a waste if money. because they recommend it if you use the their retinol 0.5.. One question though Doc, why do I still get or some pimples dont go away even if i use the skinceuticals retinol 0.5? Maybe because im using it for only less than a month right? 😅
Dude, you've been watching laptop unboxing's on RUclips haven't you. Btw, I like their vitamin c cream - it goes well undermakeup. A bit like a good makeup base. P.SS- I'm environmentally sensitive, but damn, I'd really like to see a video on high concentration hero products from all the brands without all the sensitive drivel. Not all of us care about gently gently capiche?!!! Keep up the good work.
I usually use Differin and my own brand vitamin A cream. And my RF EMF and LED Hand held device. But would love to know if there is more I can do without surgery please.
@TayTay Swift I purchased one for about €40 from amazon not so good and I recently bought one that looks the same but had EMF on it too was about €60 they have soooo many on there. My advice go mid range my new one is much better. ♥️

Thank u Dr. Davin! Being enjoying that ur posting often! Thank u!😊 I made an effort last year and tried yhe C+E Ferulic...guess it kind of work (did not see much difference to b honest), indeed it smells funky (thought it was only me), maybe I have a huge face but needed more than 5 drops for face and neck and it oxidized pretty quick! After a couple of months it tinted my skin...and because I have "cinnamon" colour skin☺ it gave me a yellowish shade...not pretty🍋. For the price I will continue watching ur reviews to c if I can find something similar to try, but not so expensive. Thanks again doc, stay safe. Cheers!😁

Oh wow i waited for this video for so long. Thank you Doctor Lim.. 😍😍😍😍😍 i have the lots of skinceuticals products! I also started using biologique recherche. I hope you make a video about BR Too.. thanks dr Lim. Keep safe and God bless..
How do you feel about skinbetter science line? Are these products worth the cost?
I LOVE their recovery system that I use after a deeper microneedling. BTW, you are talking about how you get to much and I am over here across the pond thinking......don’t waste it. I will take it. 😂
I cant Belive they just send 3 products, and sample size. Good review Dr Davin thanks for your time, very interesting as always.
Skinceuticals have a good retinol. Zo and skinceuticals are my fav brands.
Doc, what do you do for grey hair ? Just a hair dye? Or supplements ? Do tell
Who else thinks Dr. Lim looks fresh and young❤
👇👇👇
Yes he reminds me of a young Elvis!
The retinol bottle is a little tricky to open. Just unscrew the black ring then put the cap back then it will ope n.
Shame about all the wasteful packaging. Love your insight.
Lucky you!! 😂 I'm looking for something to lift and firm my upper eyelids. I've always had heavy droopy lids and deep set eyes but with age I need to firm them up a bit ♥️
😖droopy eyelids😭
So doc the skinceutical vitamin c doesn't oxidize,? Coz u said it will last for months
Please do more of these! Thank you!
A popular You Tuber states that once the formula oxidizes and turns darker, it loses efficacy. True?
Hi Dr David 😊 i love your videos!!! can you tell us for nuface?
Thanks, Davin! Please do more - insightful and fun. Plus, a nice casual feel.

Hi! La roche posay hyaluronic acid serum hyalu b5 please 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey! Love this style of video. Would really love you to review ultraceuticals, specifically their vitamin a serums and chemical exfoliants. I’ve had great results with the products but another pricey brand. Also I’m open to taking your unused samples lol. Love the content 👏🏻
Thank u Dr. Cheers!😁
@G S Thx u!😊 Was too good to b true😒

Also, could you please recommend a calming anti redness cream. Thanks
Love PROcure Rosacare Gel, Cetaphil Antiredness Relief and LRP Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer. :)
I heard Centella Asiatica is good for that. You can find a lot of creams with that ingredient, especially in Korean skincare.
@@sophisticatedwrat most korean skincare are not good. they contain citrus oils for nose pleasuring purpose.
Avene's Xeracalm lipid replenishing cream is good. Just use that alone for 3 days, reapply every 4 to 5 hours would do miracle
Klairs midnight blue calming cream, it works well in calming redness

What do you think about The Ordinary vs SkinCeuticals Correct?
Hi there Dr Lim...can you review the Rationale range cant see any reviews online?....do they take them down...I know it is very pricey. Is it worth the $$..thanks
What do you think about there being limited lifecycles for the skin hence there being such a thing as using retinol “too early”?
To break the seal you just have to pull off the black ring on the cap and screw the cap back in
The MedSpa I go to sells it but it's way out of my budget. I have really come to like Image Brand and it's easier on my pocketbook. :)
Hi doctor davin.
I have question.... For 4 years that I made my co2 laser in my face. My skin now becomes very sensitive to the sun when I go out in high temperatures. Dr Davin, Can you please give us information for color skin regarding the best acid to prevent pigmentation or Melasma, thanks
Try Skinmedica Lytera. Look into it,
Azelaic acid
try to look for products that contains 2% hydroquinone. This ingredient has been proven clinically to lighten any pigmentation on skin over time.
I LOVE the Skinceuticals line. My dermatologist office carry it. I’ve been using it for over a decade. Any Skinceutical samples that you don’t want, let me know.😂 I’ll inbox you my P.O Box information.
