I was doing a 100km run on Saturday in North Wales and was talking to a guy at the start about motivation and training and your name came up pretty quickly! No real message, just thought you'd like to know that your influence is reaching a lot of people and giving them a chance to connect with others. Keep it up Mark!

Cool video. Great insight into your early Hyrox experience. I’ve just entered Manchester’23 as my first. Unfortunately’Open’ was full, so ‘Pro’ it was. Still, go hard, or go home as they say, and Cornwall is a long way from Manchester …
Big respect on your gains too! 💪

I'm 45, 6' 2", 290lbs. I found your channel last week and have watched several videos since. My girlfriend, 13 years younger than me, started running a about a year and a half ago. I do walk with her sometimes, but found that I hated walking, it hurt my feet and back and just wasn't pleasant. I half ass the gym a few times a week. But when I watched your videos last weekend, it struck a chord, I went to the local shoe expert store where they scanned my feet for fitting proper shoes and found I have a high arched right foot and am a heel striker, which explained the cause of the discomfort with walking. I now have a proper pair of shoes and a desire to be better. I walked 5 out of 7 days last week for 10 miles total, and plan to keep that up, increasing my distance weekly, and ultimately breaking a 10 minute mile, and further from there. I'm currently at about 16 minutes per mile. At any rate, thank you for the inspiration, love what you're doing, I'll stop rambling now. 😎 Cheers from the USA, Kevin.

I used to do 13 min/ mile 2 months ago but now run comfortably at a 7:30 min/ mile.
Just trust the process and put in the miles everyday. If it’s at the gym, the road or a hike. Whatever it is. Put in the work.
I’m doing an Ironman in 7 months. Something that I had always dreamed about. Set yourself an unachievable goal and work until it becomes achievable. Best of luck on your journey.

It inspired me to take up running again after about 10 years of being pretty inactive, and I also switched to a vegan diet 6 weeks ago after seeing your take on it.

Good stuff, as always. What I enjoy most is the tactical discussions and post-mortem on what worked and didn't. Don't get too hung up on remaining true to the "above average" motto. Your fundamental point is just that to be at the pinnacle of a sport, you have to focus on it to the detriment of others, (apart from the ludicrous time commitment etc.) You are vastly above average at almost anything physical -- and still getting faster -- but this doesn't invalidate the point of your RUclips videos. You still inspire people to compete, to compete seriously, and to be smart about it.

I am so appreciative of this video for a few reasons:
    1. Your honesty with feeling defeated and trying to stay motivated when you knew you were going to fall short. Why? This weekend I had a goal to beat my co-worker’s 2019 half-marathon time. My theory was: maintain an 8:50 pace on my Garmin. Start with the 1:50 pace group, and if I never got passed by 1:55 group, I have succeeded. I did both of those, however my overall time on course measurement was an 8:56 pace, putting me at 1:56:58. Still OK but far off my goal of sub 1:55:30. Beating myself up now even though I wasn’t even sure I could COMPLETE a half back in January. 2. Bringing Jenna on as a “project”. I have ofter thought “I wish Mark would have recorded his progression”. It will be fun and helpful to watch someone in “real time” even though she has already done some pretty Above Average activities. 3. Lastly, don’t feel “guilty” to those who feel you have climbed too high. We must always look for something to aspire to. I believe your early struggles and I see your current heights as a bar to reach for. After all, I am 42 and doing half-marathons. By the time I reach your age, who knows😜

I'm still recovering from my first Hyrox outing on Saturday, what a great experience! I hadn't done any specific training but your Manchester debrief was great for some last minute research, especially as a heavier (95kg) dude. I did 1:11 and our splits were fairly consistent throughout. I think there are gains to be made in the second half, the difficulty of the sleds definitely put me off really pushing and I think it's too easy to check out and cruise. Would like to try going in a heat of similar speed to see what could really be accomplished

I did a 12hr mountain bike yesterday starting at 0200am. Your ‘this is our classroom’ comment on 4x4x48 got me out of bed and through most of the day. This video - great effort you looked and sounded genuinely excited for the next adventure!!

Brilliant vid, one of your finest, fantastic transition with the 2nd place tea towel. Well done on the result. Looking forward to the future events, go Jen go! If she can perform at Hyrox like she shouts, she’ll win it 👍🏻👍🏻😂😂

LOL Mark!!! Firstly, Jenna is LEGEND. Can't wait to see her pull off the inevitable phoenix.
I think you performed great at Hyrox. Your training was dialed in. You had a very motivational goal. And based on Jenna's footage, and that bit of B-Roll at the end, you literally wrecked yourself and keep a fire lit. Absolutely fantastic job!! I don't know if this will help your running, but I'll offer it anyway; instead of having your arms at an L shape, and sort of swinging low with open hands, try a slightly V shaped arm, have your hands in a very relaxed, but open "fist" shape, and place your thumbnail between your first and middle finger. Then swing your arms to a height that places your thumbs just below your nipple line, and have your arm swing at an angle, so that your hands wind up (in the forward-most part of the swing) about inline with your ears/cheek bones. Hopefully that all makes sense. It's a more natural, relaxed, and much more efficient arm movement, and of course your hands are made to swing up higher on your body, the faster you are attempting to run. Your current arm swing is pretty stiff, not helping with knee lift, knee drive, and using muscle energy for not much benefit.
Please don't listen to the people crying because you're different from their mediocre, lazy asses. The same "noise" is heard here, all over the US, and it starts in the grade schools, with children putting other children down, who are better at something, be it art, music, athletics, scholastics, etc. It's magnified 10 fold in the high schools, and oh look...here it is on YT as well. Clearly, you have absolutely worked your ass off, in all manner of what it takes to transition from where you were, to where you are. You've been beating on yourself mentally and physically for over a decade, and you clearly are not dialing it back any time soon. You don't owe ANYONE an explanation for your success. I wish you WOULD go to Vegas-Baby, and just hit it hard. I think that would be a great finale to this current stage of fitness, and with a slight break/taper in training, and freshly schooled in how you can do the coarse better, I think you may legitimately hit a 67.
One last thing; If you haven't tried Liquid I.V. Energy Multiplier, and drop a couple magnesium tablets into it, you may find it worthy.

And big congratulations for the podium and even more for that crazy fast time. I booked Hyrox Hamburg (GER) this year and will stick to "NO PAIN" 💪😆

Brilliant!! Well done, love what you’re doing and can’t wait to follow Jenna’s journey. Re run before wall balls- the run lap always shows slower- like we definitely picked up the pace last k and I ran the relay and had wall balls and was 38s slower than my other lap and I wasn’t running slower (not bu that much). If you look at the split data there’s a Rox in and out and station in and out for all but the wallballs- Rox in, row in, row out, Rox out etc but for wallballs it’s just Rox out from the lunges and wallballs in then total. So looks like your 8th run includes the roxzone

Seriously well done, big improvement from last time and congrats on the podium. I'm going well outside my comfort zone shortly with the Hackney Half Marathon. Miles behind in training due to the birth of our second child (plus work), but I'm just going to do what I can. Video's are always a great inspiration and I'll be getting back to Zwift racing properly after Hackney, so maybe I'll see you on there for a race soon. ;)

Congrats Mark, brilliant run. My friend Adam was the guy who came in ahead of you and it shows why hyrox is so good imho, all his runs were sub-4 mins but his exercises were slow, and yet you were within a few seconds at the end. Great event! See you at Birmingham.
