Thank you I have the 3rd ceiling in the video I'm gonna go with the kilz to get that less bight finish. This video was extremely helpful and I really appreciate it.
Thank you very much for this video. I had a stained tile (USG), and I tried using regular latex wall paint in flat white. It's close but not the quite as bright. (Also the stain bleeds through). Your comparison said the Armstrong paint is a brighter white, so that's what I used. It is a very good match.
This video is very explanatory and is exactly what I needed. My washing machine drain overflowed in my upstairs laundry room and damaged some Armstrong sand pebble ceiling tiles in the room below that are about 4-5 years old. Fortunately I have an oversupply of ceiling panels and was able to replace them but it would be nice to keep the damaged panels rather than throwing them out. I'd prefer the Armstrong paint over the Kilz but only Lowes distributes it and there isn't a Lowes within a 20 mile radius of where I live. The Home Depot up the street sells Kilz Upshot and I'm thinking about trying that. Are there any other alternatives I could possibly use? The stains aren't major, just light spots in the corner of the panels, so could I try using bleach or some other type of household cleaner to repair the tiles? Thanks! -Jon
How many times could you cover cometely with one can? I have a lot of aged tiles that I have to fully cover. I like the Armstrong coloring compared to the kilz personally. I am curious if I used flat ceiling paint to roll on as an alternative? Thank you for the detailed video!
Kilz is supposed to be more of an off-white. It is designed to better match an aged tile or ceiling paint. Most people that are trying to mask a stain are probably going to be doing so on an old tile or ceiling, not brand new.
I do commercial construction and this stuff is great ( tile paint ) I bet sum people are trying to use Armstrong paint on usg tile and I only use it on new cut tile with small dings . full tile I just put in new ones
I was impressed with the tests you did on both products. I am curious as to how this came to be something you found interesting enough to review? Overall, I agree that the Armstrong product is superior to the Kilz product
+Richard Ploss Good question... I had some ceiling tiles to paint, and I found a few different products. I thought why not test them out and post the results... Some of my videos are a reflection of my circumstances.
Yes!! I've been trying to find a quick fix for a water stained tile. I saw this video and went right out to buy the Kilz paint. Totally worked!!
Glad I could help! It's a good feeling when you can quickly fix it.
I should have watched your video before I did my panel. ... would have saved some money. I’ll keep watching your channel. Thanks a bunch
Awesome! Thank you!

Thanks! I've also seen cans of Zinnser cover up spray. I'm not sure how well that works though...
Thanks for the tips,I'm going to restore my drop ceiling...
Good luck with the restoration! I'm sure it will be worth the effort.
The video was detailed and exactly what I needed to know.
Thank you, glad to hear it helped!
Do either of these products ruin the sound acoustical value of your ceiling tile?
That's a great question. I don't believe so, since the paint just covers a thin amount. It's not enough to plug the holes in the ceiling tile.

One can of Armstrong doesn't go too far. It's pressurized to spray quite fast, therefore going though the paint rather quick.
Did you try the flat ceiling paint for your tiles? I currently have the same problem for whole ceilings.
Does Armstrong have different color spray cans for different tiles? I bought some from Home Depot called Sahara.
Not that I've noticed. I'm pretty sure the paint matches a standard color ceiling tile.
@@MarkThomasBuilder ok. I assumed they were all different shades.

That's true. I find that Armstrong is the best match for my ceiling tiles.

What paint would you choose? Or would you just buy new ceiling tiles?
