Finally went back out to a restaurant the other night with the wife and ordered an ardbeg uigeadail. When the waiter asked how I wanted it served the word neat escaped my mind (1 year of pouring my own drinks). The best I could come up with on the spot was ..ya know the way with no ice in it. Needless to say there was an awkward pause before he said...you mean neat? Loved the uigeadail, best of the ardbeg line IMO.
Love Ardbeg and not sure why but Uige is my least favorite of the core range. The 10 is just so smokey and perfect, the Cory like a fine wine, beastie with its shininess and An Oa with its roundness. But to each is own, cheers 🥃
Makers 46 is my all time favorite alcoholic beverage. That nose, and the flavor notes remind me of deer season and thanksgiving. Two things I used to enjoy with my mom, rest her soul.
I tried Ardbeg 10 for the first time recently and I really wasn't prepared for how sweet it was! Everyone talks about earth, peat, and brine so that sweet brown sugar/molasses note threw me for a loop
this episode was like christmas while watching the intense, awkward sexual tension between an elderly couple performatively flirting inappropriately in front of all that were gathered for dinner. I approve.
I have the Oklahoma, Happy Holidays, and 2 other (non fancy named) makers and they all are just absolutely amazing! To be able to choose 10 staves and 5 different profiles... Its been my goal to find as many different ones as possible. They really are unique.
I have been drinking Makers Mark for a long time. I just purchased a bottle of 46. I have been cooking with 46 for a while now, and it is one of my favorite to cook with.
I would tend to agree but I just purchased the 10342 stave profile pick up here in Alberta at a store called Wine and Beyond and it is stunning. Cask strength premium bourbon at a price point of $65 US is really quite a steal in my opinion.
Ohio had a flight of six different makers mark holiday themed private selections back in Dec 2020 that were all pretty amazing (grandpas toddy, bread pudding, winter wassel, chocolate marmalade, etc)
Kudos to Daniel for encouraging his lad in the interest of knowledge. Having dad lend his expertise has the added bonus of making sure that the exotic woods you have aging are safe for use around beverages. Some of the woods I do woodworking with would make food poisoning a pleasant experience in comparison.
@@ladylilithparker Yep, not to mention Dalbergia (Rosewood), Laburnum, Yew, Anacardiaceae (Cashew/Sumac/Mango relatives) and quite a few others. Sometimes a wood will cause dermatitis and people susceptible to reactions would have a bad reaction to food contact as well. Citadelle Gin uses acacia, mulberry, cherry, chestnut and French Oak as cask wood, I hear, and a few guys have tried other fruit woods or hickory as bottle spirals.
My local liquor store had these bottles where they picked the staves. There was makers, eagle rare, whistle pig and...a 4th. Tasted them all and by far the best was the whistle pig but your milage may vary since there's a lot of different profiles out there.

Hi Rex and Daniel. Greetings from The Philippines. Have you experienced buying old bottles (approximately 6-7 years on the shelf) of un-opened Bourbon (Wild Turkey 101) and Single Malt Scotch (Glenfarclas 12) that appears it lost around 10-15ml in volume? Is that evaporative loss? What are your thoughts? BTW , I got those bottles on a bargain price .
Per the experiment, I didn't know that you could use just any wood. I thought that some were poisonous... I think I saw this on one of the distillery videos that you all did a long time ago. How do you pick woods that won't kill you or make you seriously ill? Is there a comprehensive list or something?
Thumbs up for the review. Thumbs down for the trash titan segment. It was funny the first time, but got old QUICK,... while the actual titan animation is epic and timeless.
I am going to tie you to a chair and make you watch the economy titan segment over and over again until you love it like the kids in the Adams family movie being forced to watch the Brady Bunch all night and all day long. Lol 😂🤣
Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whiskey so that’s sort of it’s own category there. My mom loves black velvet. Not much for Canadian spirits myself but to me Crown is very comparable to cognac. My recommendation would be Hennessy, Remy Martin or Courvoisier. Or sticking with whiskey maybe Wild Turkey Rare Breed, or Weller Antique if you can find it. Cheers 🥃
It tires me a little to see so much "private selection", "family reserve" and other nonsense that they put in the bottles. If it is private or for the family of owners, they do not sell it, if they sell it, it is no longer private or for the owners family, of course. It is the same stupidity of selling industrial products (packaged soups, canned foods, etc.) as "homemade." If it is made in a factory, it cannot be homemade.
Marketing nonsense often seems as if it was created specifically in order to insult the customer's intelligence. I think that companies like Old Rip Van Winkle and Willett use the term "family reserve" because it is members of the family who owns the company doing the barrel selection and blending for those particular products though, not because they made it for themselves.
This was basically a "barrel selection" or barrel pick in more common parlance, by the Idaho Liquor Commission or whatever that government entity is called officially. It is sold in Idaho (state run) liquor stores. I got a bottle from the 2021 barrel a few weeks back, it is quite nice-
Watching this so I can get my mind off of going to stomp the people that stole 5 bottles of whiskey from me this weekend, 2 of them unopened and that I was gonna try the next day...one of them was a 1792 single barrel and the other a whistlepig 10yr old....

When it comes to cigars and tobacco in general, there is only one thing to say, they are all bad and have scientifically been proven to be bad for you. And cigars are just plain gross, as in puking everything you've eaten for the past month or two.

The Maker's Private Selection series are BY FAR, the best, most accessible bourbons on the market.

Good Morning MB's
I've tried 20 different Bourbons. I always come back to MM. I don't know if it's the best, but it's my favorite.
At this point, why even bother with the titan theme? Shouldn't he be demoted to an awkward moment of silence like a rep would get?
Well said. Worked in the music industry, same reaction. 😅
