    Loving these videos! Do you guys practice steady until flushed and shot? If so, would that be introduced later? If not, is it just not a big deal to you? Thank you!

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  5 лет назад +1

      justinjbastin we do teach our dogs to stand through flush and shot. We feel this is an advanced thought process as it isn’t natural, and want our dogs to be mentally ready for the training! We won’t typically start this training before a dog is 12 months old.

    Cool video Cat. Can you explain an little more how you’re using the e-collar in that session? Is it only used to vibrate while Rogue is bringing the birds back? What’s the idea behind vibrate while bringing them back? Any other times during the process? Thanks!!

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  5 лет назад +2

      We are using vibrate on the recall because she is collar conditioned to recall with vibrate. We are just making sure to keep her focus to condition a direct and prompt retreive! Thanks for the questions!

    Is that Pointer Dog a cross between a German Short- haired Pointer and a English pointer? The patch markings look more of an English pointer. Thanks.

  • @johnpearce7835
    @johnpearce7835 4 года назад +1

    Hey, so I use the vibrate with my EP for the here recall, basically the vibrate is used for a silent here command when he is in thick cover or he is a long ways away and I want him to come back to where I am. Anyway my 3 year old male EP is a little weak on retrieves, do think that since I have conditioned him on vibrate =here I could start using it on retrieves without any issue of confusion or conflict? it seems that it would be a seamless addition.

    Thanks for the video. I am looking for some advice. My two year old English point wants to chew the bird during the retrieve. She will hold the bird at my side without chewing however during the retrieve she will chew the bird. She is very consistent to retrieve the bird to hand but the chewing is troublesome. Any suggestions to stop the chewing?

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  5 лет назад +2

      huntsman1711 we can recommend formal retrieving work. A trained retreive if don’t properly will eliminate any bad habits! Thanks for the question!

    Do u use the command "fetch it up" or "dead bird" and will she get more range as she get older?

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  5 лет назад

      Lonnie Bickham we do talk to them some, but really try to not distract from the task at hand. As long as we can pull them down wind of where we feel the bird went down they just need to look. Some people really like to talk “dead” to the dog, but I don’t believe this is necessary. Also yes she does, as she builds confidence and ages!
