Not really, the Fever shooters were just ice cold. Other than Clark they were all missing open 3s. Clark got a lot of defensive attention so her shooting was down a little. She had to force some tough shots to try to keep them in the game and missed a few that are normally easy shots.
But the Fever dominated the first half, even with bad shooting.

Lynx has so much poise, control, and allows the game to come to them, even with a slow start. Everyone works so well together - the experience shows! 5 on court have great peripheral on where others are, there is no searching when passing.

Lynx got multiple experienced players and coaches, Fever gave everything to get lead down to one, then Lynx showed they have 5 players who can make clutch shots in the paint or perimeter. With a maybe MVP Lynx gonna be dangerous.

The Lynx is the better overall team point and blank. Had the Fever won this game it would have been an upset. Even though they lost, they didn't quit and battled hard until the very end. It may not be evident now but they will be a better team because of this game

Thoughts on why Indiana lost? The crucial differences? Looking at the highlights which may be misleading, it seemed they lost too many points in the paint when they were defending especially close to the basket.
@@tenderstepsPaul The Fever couldn't match the Lynx in the paint, which led to a lot of fouls, which led to 25 foul shots for the lynx vs 13 for the fever. They also allowed a lot of open 3s but the lynx actually shot worse from the 3 than the fever 40.6% vs 44.8% (both teams made 13 threes)

Take a shot for how many times a Lynx player was left wide open on the perimeter…Seriously this was painful. The Fever defense needs HELP. It’s whats going to prevent them from being a great team. Stop looking at where the ball is and keep your players on the perimeter where the ball could GO. I hope Sides can work on this before playoffs come around.

Fever defense looked lost in the last few minutes. This is the kind of loss that is positive in that it exposes the weak spots. There’s still time to work on those things and be ready for the playoffs against teams that have all been there multiple times.

Cc shied away yet again from wanting the ball late in the game when they are down. It’s so obvious that She’s afraid to take the blame for any of the fever’s losses. That’s where AR EXCELS FOR SURE. Angel Reese does not shy away from big moments, she does her best to create them late in the game.
Just remember fever got 3 first overall picks on that team..any one of them should be able to take over any point in time
I know a lot of you think CC's other good things she does outweigh her TO. But I think eventually her TO will hurt them in the playoffs. Also sometimes coach Sides game management doesn't really make sense.
So, if she cleans up and has 0 turnovers the rest of the way but averages 0 pts and 0 assists you think that'll help the Fever out better?

Fever’s defense really is their weakness. Tough game but a little Lynx ball movement had them scrambling almost every time. CC showed up big but no defense means no championship.
They were never gonna compete for a championship this season lol. They don't have the experience nor the depth for that. They just need another piece or two and they'll be fine.
The defense was almost non existent. Everyone was open and little pressure inside.

Carlton has been knocking down 3's at a high clip all season. The Lynx are only vulnerable to teams that can bury a lot of 3's, like Dallas!!

the biggest difference was the FACT ... that the lynx had 2 times as mant foul shots as the lynx ... aka the game was RIGGED by the league
Minnesota pressure defense in the 3rd quarter put Indiana off balance making their passes, hitting their shots from everywhere in the paint and the 3. Even 3 min left Indiana stayed in the game only down 1.
Referees were bigger.

I watch these highlights because I didn't watch the game. It would be cool if the game result wasn't posted on the first line of the description. I once again accidentally spoiled the ending for myself by glancing just barely below the video and seeing the final score.
Agreed, and what's just as bad is you always know what team won before even clicking on the video. They need to stop using only the winning team in the thumbnail.

@@samhugh4965 The "BEST" teams play defense and offense. The Fever want to play at a fast pace on offense but get lazy when getting back on defense against the upper echelon teams in the league.
Boston, Clark, smith are all slow side to side on def. Makes for blocking and reaching fouls. Not bad refs, bad def in my opinion. Clark and Boston scored 45 but their +/- was a - 20. Not going far when your #1 draft picks and Rotys don’t lead the team/defence.
4:55 Clark gets packed and then takes her time getting up which led to an even easier transition bucket for the Lynx. It’s frustrating getting blocked like that but you won’t win games taking plays off, especially against good teams.

It's always fun to drop by to read what all the WNBA experts have to say. Most of whom have watched more WNBA games in the last 2 months than they have in their entire lives. And they're not really watching the games, ... they're watching highlights. The Fever's problem today wasn't what they did or didn't do. Their problem was the Lynx. They're a better team now. Geez!

Lynx is the best team in the league right now, but I think the Fever is on their way to peaking at the right time.
Fever needs to come up with a couple set plays when two defenders collapse on her right after she passes half court. Where is her help?
Also, WTAF happened to using a timeout during the third as they were getting pummeled. Sides look like the hard drive in her brain froze. Absolutely lost all leadership for an entire quarter.

Coming to say this. She does not take shots in the big moments, and she should.
There was a time earlier this season when CC appeared very tentative, would pass up shots to try to make a pass to a teammate, that I thought CC should shoot a little bit more but I understood a conscious choice had been made to work on the passing and the teamwork, and I think that has really paid off for Indy. I think Clark is now playing at a higher level with better decisions on when to shoot and when to pass to a teammate but Lynx a very good team.

I didn't watch the game but I thought these highlights showed a lack of perimeter defense. The Lynx are pretty uptempo. The Fever went away from their pattern of starting slow and seemed to run out of gas in the second half. I guess it's foolish to think these girls can be the WNBA Champions. They don't have the experience but they are smart and next year could be different.

IMO, there are currently only two teams that they can't beat in a playoff series, the liberty and the lynx. That is still a huge improvement from last year thou when they didn't even make the playoffs

Bball is about matchups and the fever's frontcourt players just get owned by this LYNX team. Nyesha is too small. K lou is too slow. Tami F gives them some size, but zero offense. Also, Dantas is usually a factor off the bench. She wasn't tonight and the final score reflects that. Even CC and fever lose the games are entertaining. Hard to win giving up almost 100 pts.

Boston was doing all she could do. Boston needed to kick the ball back out to an open player. She was being ganged on.

What a game. Clark, Boston and Mitchell all had brilliant games. Result doesn’t matter much as Fever are already in the playoffs. Temi has won multiple titles with the Lions and the European title. Attention now turns to the basketball finals in Paris with GB and Netherlands takes on USA. Come on GB, let’s bring him the gold. Then Fever play Dream on Sunday night, come on fever.

However that team if they match up in post season is not a big team and they got a ton of lucky rebounds.. they are not invincible to the fever especially when greatness is possible with a player like Clark. She is to passive, she's needs to be more of a assassin and look to score first. However I'm sure it's the coach making those decisions... I'd rather CC 30times even if her current %is 34. Fever need to stop crying about the officials just play no one gets every call if it wrong don't try to show up the officials it won't work
There are a lot of similarities between now and when Sidney Crosby entered the NHL. He was “the next one” and was targeted heavily by opposing teams physically often in cheap ways and sometimes reacted immaturely and was called a whiner for complaining to the refs. There was also the rivalry between him and Alexander Ovechkin although Alex actually was an elite player and Angel is mostly hype. Eventually Sid matured and became highly respected and won everything that can be won and the question of who was the best was no longer relevant. I imagine the same will happen with Caitlin and the Fever.
Fever's defense is horrendous. They don't switch well, don't follow the ball if the attackers switch and their bigs can't jump to save their lives. One might be inclined to say Minnesota is just better, but they lost even more than 10 point leads in the last 10 games, they just won those because they had superior offense, but with no. 1 or 2 in the league, the difference won't be that much and when your defense is that bad, CC and Mitchell can't make the difference anymore.
Lynx exposed that the Fever have no defense and all it takes is slowing down the Fever to win
easier said than done. If that's all it takes then how come since the olympics break, they have been 7-2? Even teams with winning records (save for the lynx twice) Connecticut and Seattle lost to them
@@5511rafa Look at the games. Their offense is what carried them. Their defense hasn’t been great. All it took was one poor quarter and they couldn’t slow down the perimeter or the interior. So, against elite teams, it’s game over if they don’t fix that part.

@@inviz1769 There are only 2 teams right now the Fever can't beat in a playoff series, the liberty and lynx. Both are superior in terms of players over the Fever. The only way to fix the defense as you say in order to consistently beat the elite teams is to get better players. There is a reason why the Fever was 13-27 last season. Caitlin is phenomenal on offense but unfortunately she not great on defense (if you want to blame her)
