Woweee!!!! Love this vid!!! That was sooo complex but you made it look easy Rick! Amazing video bud!!! Amazing job!!! Sweeeet ride!!! ❤ Hi Pumpkin! Lol 🎉
The best video Yet !!!!! Thank u! I have a 2007 Chrysler 300 with a good oil leak, no water, thank god, and no white smoke Either, I've done a 1997 Saturn Ls Timing chain be 4, Purty similar job. I love my car, and hopes to keep it FOREVER! Thank u man!
Awesome. Be sure to change out the gasket for the thermostat. Those gaskets won't leak while the car is idling, but they will leak coolant under pressure while driving.
I have this same charger and same color I have a piston ring leak that’s causing it to smoke I’m going to watch this video as many times as I can to full understand everything you did I need to replace the piston rings I hope and pray some day I’m as good as you are that was amazing I wonder how long it took u to learn everything u know you’re awesome 👏
I love the detailed video but I have a 2008 charger 2.7L, was that the inbetween year? and would the timing chain for the 07 or 09 work for my 08? I'm not sure what the slight differences are between those 3 years. Any help or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Your timing marks are clearly labeled on the chain and on the camshaft sprockets. As long as the timing marks are in place, everything will be OK. I strongly recommend replacing the chain tensioner that will ensure that nothing falls out of place. Also, do you want to manually rotate everything like I demonstrate in the video. That way you’ll be able to feel smooth rotations.
I was told I need a new motor cause the timing slipped during an oil change and breaks on the same car model. Would a complete rebuild kit do? Am told the car drives but will only go 35ish but not sure but somebody has asked to buy the car which only had 100,000 miles on it original miles. Which also ironically is a mechanic that wanted to buy another vehicle from my dad, but he wouldn’t sell it to him.
@@FixiT-Rick with the manifold you mentioned leaving it on the vehicle.. how would you do that ? just disconnect it from under the car im kind of confused and stuck at this point.. I have everything taken apart im just not sure about how to deal with the manifold
Hello If I do all that for my 2.7 v6 engine. would that help my enging to run normal. Because when I replaced the water pump I also added new guide rails for the chain, a new timing chain. and a new tentioner. when I did all that, and put the timing chain in the right position. Primed the enging before starting. then I turned the car on. I started to hear a rattling noise coming from the passenger side. It was from the Tentioner. all the stuff I bought was from amazon. should I rebuild the engine like you did on this video ? By replacing all the Valves?
Sounds like the tensioner may need to be pressed in order to create tension on the chain. Always go for the simple approach. I would recommend a compression test to see how much PSI is being created in each cylinder.
Like he said, I would keep it simple as you can but if your timing chain got messed up and you had to replace it just like he showed in this video. There’s a good chance your valves could be bent causing that tapping rattling sound. I’m dealing with the same thing right now and I also had my timing chain. Already replaced 3 years ago. If you’re positive that tensioner is working as it should, I would definitely look deeper into the engine rebuild He’s got going here.
The hole where the tensioner goes has a sharp edge created from the tensioner rocking back and forth when you replaced it, it could have cut the o-ring making it loose pressure resulting in a loose timing chain, use sand paper on the edge and I would shop for a cheap model on Amazon bad reviews
Whoever worked on that before just smeared orange silicone over everything instead of replacing gaskets. When you pull an intake manifold off and see silicone sealant you know you're in trouble.
the 2.7 is straight up ass. its not worth all that work. those motors were modular for a reason. once the 2.7 dies horribly you drop the cradle and swap in a 3.2 or 3.5. i mean for real the 2.7 is arguebly chryslers worst engine of all time.
Thank you for watching this video. Your support is greatly appreciated. Subscribe!
Bro thanks for the super detailed video. Bout to replace a water pump on the wife’s 300. Much more confident now!!!

Thank you for your kind words. Has a compression test been performed on your Dodge Charger?
Great video gave me a good sense of how to rebuild the engine in my Chrysler 300..
It’s a lot of fun when you start her back up! 🔥

Great video. But that last part made me a subscriber 🙏🛐
10:07 wouldn’t the steel brush cause uneven surfaces? I’m new to engine rebuilding 😁
It's possible. If my friends from Dave's Auto want to correct me on this, I'll listen to them talk.
I need my 2010 dodge charger sxt fixed 😢 keeps coming up with cylinder 2 misfire i cant seem to fix it
Great video I’m gonna do timing chain and water pump my buggiest my fear is not being on time any tips

This might be a foolish question but should you drain the oil before doing all that?
That’s an honest question, I believe draining the oil won’t be necessary to fix that part of the engine.
Nice job bro i have a dodge charger 3.6 2011 with a seized engine are you in fl?
Nah man, Texas. Just go slow and you'll figure it out!
@@FixiT-Rickwhat part of Texas your in ? I need your services in Dallas
What about a water pump? Should it be replaced during similar mileage?
Great question. If you have access to the water pump inside these engines, it would be worth replacing the water pump.
@@FixiT-Rick unfortunately i don't have access, my car has 90k mileage, i don't know what to do

Rebuilding an engine is a great undertaking. What do the codes say when you plug in with a scan tool?
You didn't lap the valves, did you?
I was thinking the same thing

7 bolts

How much did the whole rebuild cost ?
That’s a great question which I don’t know off the top of my head. It’s less money than paying a shop to fix.
