Nice review on the Ramcharger. I share your excitement. I have a Hemi 5.7L Wagoneer with 58K miles on it and it's been solidly reliable. I have been very disappointed in Ram for moving to dual turbocharged engines. All these turbocharged engines on large engines run very hot and will be proven to be wildly unreliable in my opinion. I was also skeptical of electrified platforms until we recently bought a 2025 Hybrid Accord. All I can say is wow! The integration of a battery with the naturally aspirated 2 Liter engine is flawless - we can't even tell when the engine is on and when it turns off - it's brilliant. I understand that the Hybrid Accord is a different style drive train then the Ramcharger since in the case of the accord, the ice drives the transmission too. However, it shows that electrification can be done elegantly and the efficiency is fantastic - the Hybrid Accord is rated for 46mpg! That's amazing - we are expecting to lower our gasoline costs by 50%.
My main concern about the Ramcharger is will the generator be able to supply enough charge to the batteries when the batteries are under a heavy load from towing. Any engineers out there that can give their view on this question?
Just remember that most hybrids need more frequent oil changes because of the water condensations in the crank case. But the new Ramcharger will not have the condensation problem, because the generator will run long enough to eliminate any chance of condensation.
@@joeman255 yes, with towing mode you can never go to 0% with battery, it start generator at 20% or more, like an F150 and gm,ram you have a stop and start systeme, when you use Tow haul, it cancel it. Same with that truck ,with towing after 1-2 hours, gas engine run more often !
I have a 2020 gen 3 eco DIESEL with the big fuel tank. I consistently get 1100-1200 km range. Love this truck and wish they still offered it . The EV battery replacement cost and fire risk are big barriers for me.
We don't have info on the battery yet, but most EV batteries are switching to LifePo4. LifePo4 are a very stable and safe battery structure. Once I find out if Ramcharger is using LifePo4 I'll post about it.
it'll go 690 miles (1110km) This is with a full tank of gas and a full charge. The tank size is 27gallons. So the total MPG with the electric included is 25.5mpg. This isn't a lot more than a gas version, but the three big benefits are 1. you can use the electric mode to do most of your commuting. 2. you can still get a long range, so you can haul an RV or other trailers. 3. 4 wheel independent suspension means that the long trip that you make won't break your back. Plus if they do make a 2wheel drive version, then the mpg should go up a lot.
Yeah. I'm glad they are building this. It will give us a true reason to buy something that runs on electric. With the truck market needing more power, I think this truck is really figuring out the range issue.
Ford Maverick and 2025 Ramcharger are the best trucks right now (if Ramcharger doesn’t dissapoint) Chevy needs to step up their game maybe the GMC Sierra will be the best full on EV but I hate how the frunk is like 60% the size of the ford lightning frunk
I 100% agree. Ford Maverick is the best and hopefully Ramcharger follows up. I really like the idea of Ramcharger because when you have an RV, you can use the truck as a generator. I do love my Tacoma, but as of 2024 and above, Ford is doing a great job. Hopefully Tacoma will become an off-road truck again. I can only hope for the best
@ thing I hate about Toyota (atleast in my family Prius) is it doesn’t show the PSI in the tires which should be mandatory on every vehicle but only seems to be in American vehicles Every Honda my family has had doesn’t show PSI either my friends 2018 accord too
Gm ic 300 liters, Ford is 400 liters, reason is because f150 is a gas truck with big hood for a v8, chevy is a full ev design, gm cut hood for add more space to battery and better efficiency, if you want a ford take a for, or wait in 2027 next truck with a smaller front end
I really wanted one, but I paid $100 to be part of the “insider” program only for zero communication and having to scour youtube for updates on this and the rev. I got my money back
145 miles, but that makes it perfect for what it needs to do. It can be a local truck on electric, and use gas when it needs to do the long trips. Also, for us people with an RV trailer, we can use the Ramcharger as a generator while camping in the woods.
Traditional vehicles have complex systems, with transmissions connected to drivetrains, which are expensive to produce and repair. The RamCharger, however, is simple: a battery powers an electric motor, and a generator recharges the battery. Unlike hybrid engines, the generator in the RamCharger can run continuously until the battery is charged. This means it doesn’t have to start and stop frequently, which avoids moisture buildup in the oil. This design makes the generator last longer and run more efficiently.
@@EastCoastOffRoadingyea that’s the main benefit to Ram Charger no transmission to maintain And you have EV powertrain which means instant acceleration This thing is way cooler than Chevy volt and I’m a Chevy guy
Dodge hasn't made a truck since 2009. Chrysler split off the Dodge brand to only make cars. Ram was formed as a seperate division to only include trucks. If you purport to be an expert on trucks, please refer to it as a RAM truck and not a Dodge.
I reference Dodge Ram so that all of my viewers would understand the references. Kind of like when people say band-aid. But band aid is actually a brand.

Very good information on the "RAMCHARGER"! I just wonder when it will become available!
They haven't announced a release date yet. The predicted launch date is around February of 2025
before june 2025
Check out Edison Motors/Debo’s Garage, they did this first in a semi and have truck retrofit kits coming.
Edison Motors definitely has a great idea, and I hope all the truck industry follows this. At least Ram is doing it also.

Enjoying the videos Joe. Keep them coming!
Thanks Garrett. It's been pretty fun.
1:34 Does it mean that Ramcharger will be able to drive 27*25,5*1,609 = 1,107 km using fuel + 128 km using electricity, totaling 1235 km?

I don't blame you. I always suggest waiting till the second year for any new releases. Let someone else discover the bugs.

DODGE ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dodge has had ZERO to do with RAM’s for nearly 15 YEARS. Where have you been ?
Dodge might not have it's name on the Ram but it's still a Dodge. Don't forget that Jeep and Ram are Italian vehicles now.
Chevy volt, BMW i3, Mazda MX30 rev … all extend range EVs.

BMW is notorious for being ridiculous expensive when it breaks down cuz they over engineer all their cars
