I bought one yesterday, love it. Such nice tones from something so small. Really enjoyed your video.

Your kids projecting Star Wars on a sheet on your boat is a cool story.

Hi! I'm a beginner/average player and I just bought my first electric guitar. I'm looking for a decent bedroom amp with some built-in effects in it to play around. Would THR5 do the job? Or should I look for something like Boss Katana 50? I don't want the amp to be too loud since I'm playing pretty much only at home. Nevertheless it would be nice if it was capable to produce decent volumes when needed. Suggestions? :/

To be honest, If I'm playing alone... just practicing - I use the THR5 all the time! It's just so much easier to deal with than hooking up my pedal board and amp. The effects are good, has several good drive settings.... it's great for a bedroom amp. Obviously, if you're practicing or playing with a band, you;ll need a bigger amp. But for what you're describing... it's awesome! Thanks for watching!

I'm same as you, just home playing. I bought the Boss Katana 50 (Mk1) and I love it, for the most part. It's endless fun getting sounds from it, though you'll find favourites and stick with those too. It can get quite loud, if you need it to be. I do have some issue (personally) with the higher gain sounds (e.g. 'brown) which could be better at higher volume. But that's just me, don't let that colour your choice!
All that said, I just ordered a THR5 today, so I will have both. My curiosity about the THR series could be restrained no more, and I can see uses for its size and portability (with batteries) in my set-up, and the low cost is great (Katana is also well-priced for everything you get out of it).
As for sound, just bear in mind that the Katana 50 is a 50w amp with one 12" speaker. The THR5 is 2x5w speakers for stereo 10w sound. All reports say the THR5 sounds surprisingly big for its size, but I'm guessing the Katana will be far bigger, of course, so it really depends how much volume your home set-up can tolerate. You could, especially mic'ed up, use the Katana on a stage. The THR5 I'm guessing not.
Another amp to consider if lower volume is needed, and you're willing to lose a few features of the Katana 50, would be the Katana Mini. It's a 7w version of the Katana, probably more in the ballpark of the THR5. Do some research and see if that might be an option for you too. All reviews of the Katana Mini say folks love them too.
Hope this helps, I love the Katana 50, for the most part, and I can't wait to get my hands on my THR5...

UPDATE: I just got my THR5 and have played it for a few days, checking out its features/capabilities. Short version: I absolutely love it! The fact that it can sit on my desk and give such huge, warm tones out of such a little box is incredible. The volue and clarity is truly surprising. I will be keeping the Katana for louder applications, but this THR5 is a keeper for sure and will probably become my take-anywhere, main practice amp. Buy with confidence!

Is it loud enough? Because sometimes I really turn up the volume (at home) and start rocking

Dilan aeroplane guy it’s actually plenty loud for the living or bed room. You couldn’t gig with it or play with a drummer but it’s surprisingly loud for its small size. Thanks for watching!
