Brilliant video John I actually bought one myself about 4 years ago and just love, it recently picked up the THR 10c Yamaha are really doing some great things with these amplifiers
I actually used my THR10c at a sizable-size club gig by going right from the headphone jack to the pa-mixer: best sound ever and effortless tone control right next to me. Plus I use it to practice everyday- so simple, such rich stereo effects from a small box- love it.
Great vid John. I have the THR5A (acoustic) over a year now. One of the best things I've ever bought. Great tones great sound. Fantastic interface for home recording too. Great purchase.
I have one of the original THR10's at home. Love it and use it almost every day. I also enjoy hooking my MP3 up to it for jamming along to or just as a boombox for the MP3 itself.
You all probably dont care at all but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Jabari Edgar thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I,ve been using the THR10 (for about 7 years now) that was very pricey, but has been a joy to play and record thru. What tiny amount of Latency there was has been eliminated with a free plugin (for the computer) that I found in a google search. The program that comes with the THR10 is great to change the sound of those presets which were very limited. When I really want to feel it however, I still prefer my Fender Ultimate Chorus which will move some AIR...see ya.
I've been using my THR5 for a few years now. The best thing for me is that it's quiet! I live in a shoebox in the East Midlands and my neighbours complain when I turn up my laptop. Not even joking. A "real" amp is not an option for me (let alone a valve amp). My only gripe is that - when using it as an interface - I need to select it as such in Reaper and it can be awkward. I prefer to switch to my Presonus soundcard and studio monitors for playback and Reaper sometimes doesn't recognise it. On the plus side ....zero latency and zero setup time. Plug and play!
This is interesting since I want something capable of clear but very low level sound for the night since I can't stand headphones. However I look on the nux mighty air since has WiFi, so no cables (I can't stand cables either😁).
I know you have this Zoom issue solved for your needs, but in case you find it interesting, I've had great results routing Amplitube to Voicemeeter Banana, mixing the mic there and sending that to Zoom. No lag, plus I can also mix the media player to Banana as well, and on the other side they get my mic, my Amplitube sound and whatever backing I need.
hello john , thank you so much for this video, actually i feel bit depressed from now and then mostly because of not finding the easy way to play my guitars and record them, as it’s very difficult in case small house and living in a family, now i have hope that this could make it easier for me to practice and record and post some tones easily. i think i,m buying one of these, as it’s cheap compared to the new thrii late models. very important for guitar players to practice easily and regularly especially at these difficult times, otherwise life becomes challenging otherwise.
Hi John. Great video. I bought a THR10 from eBay a couple of years ago from eBay but didn’t come with instructions or software. I’m interested in what software you use or one that’s free I could try. The Cubase web site talks about a download code that originally came with the THR but I don’t have that code!
Yeah... That's a problem, not having the code. Might be worth Googling for a code. Someone is bound to have put up a list of them somewhere on the interweb. Failing that, contact Yamaha/Cubase with screenshots of your eBay purchase (to prove you legitimately own the amp) & see what they say.
The bundled Cubase is feature-limited and I never installed mine. There's lots of videos comparing free DAW solutions, and tutorials for them...I'm going with Cakewalk, but Pro Tools First is probably more industry-standard.
Is it a problem that there is no equaliser knobs on the top like the thr10.. I noticed those options are on the app anyway.. I wish I could find a used on ebay at that price. I can only find new ones for around £170 online now
This sounds promising. How do you hook the THR5 up to the laptop? what hardware and software are required? This might be the answer for me, as I've been looking for a good way to get kitted up to take online lessons from someone like yourself.
It just hooks up with a standard USB lead & the software comes with the amp (well... You get the address to download it from). Took 5 minutes to plumb it all in. Easy 👍
@@useyourblues Billy, You might want to do your own research and ask yourself what features you might want. John does say finds the Yamaha THR5 indispensable. Besides that, how could you NOT want the orange glow? End of story.
Have you run it on batteries? Mine cuts out if I strum even semi hard. It's like it overloads the amp, but renders the amp useless for out and about playing.
I like your utilitarian approach to guitar gear, but I have to say that those modeling amps make me nervous. I mean what will happen when eventually the digital stuff crap out? Are they serviceable for a reasonable price? Or are you going to throw it away because getting a new one is cheaper? And what happens when the company decides that they are no longer going to support the latest windows version for older models? Personally, I'd rather have a plain old-school amp that is serviceable or even modable by any competent technician, and just run it through its line output into a plain usb interface
Perhaps keeping it simple is right for you, especially if you prefer to have things repaired eventually. To really lose some sleep, check out the battle for the "right to repair" items that you own. The legislation that Apple supported was insane and combined with the unavailability of repair parts is a slap in the face to individuals everywhere. I quit giving Apple my hard earned money for this very reason. So sad what they are trying to do. So sad.

@Jabari Edgar it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!

I absolutely love the THR amps. I have the THR10X and THR10C and really want the THR100H Dual head and 2X12 cab.
Cool great review! Like always! What guitar is that on the wall next to the Tele, second from the left. Is that a Gibson Les Paul special?
I think the guitar you're asking about is my Gordon Smith 👍
Great vids and love the tele.

@@JRobsonGuitar Have you been happy enough with the 5 or do you want for any of the features on the 10?

Never tried it on battery power, so can't comment. Sounds like you've got a faulty one though.
just catching upon this video. can you use pedals through it?
Don't see why not 👍

Nux mighty air have WiFi for the guitar and Bluetooth for the smartphone.
£40-60 on ebay? I think not.
Admittedly, not these days. All information was (roughly) correct at the time of posting 👍
