Hi,have you got a link for the THR10C editor download please? I can only seem to load the THR10 editor and when I load 10C patches I get the dreaded invalid model message
Have you ever encountered any popping sounds coming from the amp when you play clean? I have EMGs in my guitar too and the amp pops and distorts even on low low gain clean channel. Whaat?? :(
Sean Foster That definitely doesn't sound typical of the amp. I guess the first thing I'd say since you have EMG's are to make sure the battery isn't dead or dying, because from what I remember from the Viper (I sold it a few months ago), the EMG's would make all kinds of weird noises if the batteries were going out.
John Jeziorski Thank you for responding. The batteries are indeed brand new, but the amp always breaks up on the clean channel. My guitar is tuned to drop B. I've concluded that the combination of low tuning plus high output pickups causes the amp to breakup. I have fiddled around with settings and it's impossible to clean up completely :( I have a guitar with passives and the tones I can get are nothing short of incredible. Better than tube amps I've owned.. Cheers, Sean
Hey Tony. This really, really confused and irritated me the first time I had the same problem. What you have to do is go to the drop down menu under "edit," click on "preferences," and for the two drop down menus for "DATA IN" and "DATA OUT," you should see the THR listen as a sound source. If you don't see the THR listed and it's connected, close out of the editor, disconnect and then reconnect the THR, open the editor, and then go back under preferences, and select the THR. If it's still not showing up, make sure you have the correct driver installed.
I own a thr10x and I downloaded this editor but my amp has different preamp simulator and I don't know how to resolve this problem... could you help me please?
You should be able to go into Edit and from there, select the THR10X. I did this last night. It makes the background green, at which point you're laughing.
Yep! The editor is the exact same between the two. The only difference is with the THR5 there aren't Bass, Acoustic, or Flat "channels." For me, that was the ultimate deciding factor.
Francesco Carmellini Right, hardware wise on this amp the 5 is more limited in that way. But when you hook it up to the computer and use the editor software, you are able to control those parameters. As far as the output knobs go, again, there's just more control to the 10 for those. The 10's USB control is strictly just for playback volume, and the guitar control is...well that's self-explanatory! On the 5 you just have a single volume control for both of those channels.
The CODE is for CUBASE. It's an audio recording program. Go to the yamaha website and look under downloads and you can get the editor, and it's drivers there.
Hi I am new to all this am i right in thinking that in order to access the presets you have saved in the library and play them via the THR10 you need the THR10 to be plugged into your computer?
You can save 5 presets from the editor directly into the amp so you can then use them when not connected to the computer. Just as you would save your own sounds by holding down 1-5 when turning the knobs you save it the same way when hooked up. I bought this amp a few weeks back and love it. Do a google search for THR10 patches and you can save and edit other peoples uploads, the THR-C and the X patches are specific to those units so if you just have the 10 just save those. Hope that helps
+dudu gez It does! The only thing is with how the software is set-up for each amp, you can't use an amp that's on the THR10X on the THR10C. Basically, whatever amps you've got on the amp itself are what you're able to work with.
If you linger more towards blues or classic rock, and don't need too much distortion, you might find better use out of the 10C. The models on that are more true to Fender, Vox and Bluesbreakers. If you play a little bit of everything from blues/jazz to hard rock and some metal, then the 10 will be fine. Either one work nicely, and they handle pedals very well too (I'll be posting a video with the 10 and an MXR OD to showcase this).
The X is designed with high gain amp models. You have amps that soudn like Engl, Diezel, and Mesa on that; it's made for metal, rock, and punk. It does have a "clean" setting, but unlike the 10 and the 10C, the X does not have an acoustic option.
John Jeziorski alright, well thx for all those clarifications.. im more of a blues rock guy.. i'll go wether with the C ou the original one in my case.. however, i guess i'll have more options sound wise with the original one..
Can the 5 loaded patches be selected with a foot switch?
how do i make it so i can hear it in my headphones?
hi john many thanks will try it tony bw.

So when you disconnect from the editor you don't have access to any of the new patches you've created. Is that right?
you hold in one of the 5 buttons on your amp and itll save it to your amp.
so,, we can create a scooped metal preset for a thr 10 for example : great !

are the editor's features, including presets, the same for both THR5 & THR10?
Yep! The editor is the exact same between the two. The only difference is with the THR5 there aren't Bass, Acoustic, or Flat "channels." For me, that was the ultimate deciding factor.
John Jeziorski so even presets are the same... i even noticed that on the 5 there aren't bass/mid/treble controls as well as usb/guitar output ones.

John Jeziorski Thanx John, that's exactly what I'd like to know better and you just explained it very clearly
Francesco Carmellini Glad I could help!
I cant get the amp connected to my computer i cant figure out the steinber usb
I cant even suss out how to download it! I have the code but where the hell do you fill it in and download it?

ok , thx ! so where the thr10 X sits betwwen the 10 and 10C ? since the 10 seems to be more rounded...
