I tried one of these at Guitar Center and I really liked it. Fun amp. And I was looking at reviews here on youtube and I like that you didn't have to do some crazy ass solo riff for every setting lol....I was watching another video, this guy was just showing off guitar solos for every single tone lol. I just wanted to hear it played with actual chords. I like your riffs stuff too. Thanks for the review, I enjoyed it.
Same, I also noticed quite a few negative reviews of this amp, then I realised all those reviews were after a very particular rock sound they couldn't get from it, which I don't actually care about at all. So I ordered one. Should arrive any day now 🙂 can't wait! It was actually ChatGPT that suggested this as a good option if I want clean sounds 😀
Many thank for this great review! Could you tell me, could I use it for monitoring too? I see, using the speaker ( as monitoring) and the phone output in same time?
Hi, yes it's a Stratocaster. Since doing the video I sold the guitar. So unfortunately I don't recall if it was a squire or regular Strat even (don't think it was a Squire)! I was buying and trading a bit back then. I am more of a Tele guy now, maybe that's why I traded it away. I used to be a Strat guy as a young dude - from the 80s to the 90s.
I just scored one for a hundred. It's great. Only played it for a half hour, but the less one pays, the more it feels like you really get something out of it. If I paid like 400, maybe less so. Curious to try the 30ii tho
I have this little thing five years now and I'm in love with it. It sounds amazing when run through a PA, a powered cabinet or in the return of an amps fx loop. Tip: if you have a nice set of desktop speakers with a subwoofer, plug it in. Start with all the volume controls low and work your way up. You'll be amazed by the results...
@@justastrummin9371 I've never used one to be honest but I see no reason not to. If I got this right, a looper goes in the front of an amp and all its does is record and play back. So I see no reason not to do it
Hi! I'm a beginner/average player and I just bought my first electric guitar. I'm looking for a decent bedroom amp (since I'll be playing pretty much only at home). Would THR5 do the job? Or should I look for something like Boss Katana 50? I don't want the amp to be too loud but it would be nice if it was capable to produce decent volumes when needed!
Going into a store and testing is best way to compare. I think the katana may be overkill, but if the price is good nice to have a bit more power if you ever need it
Katana is the way to go. IF you ever advance and start playing out you'll be prepared with the katana. The katana being so close in price to the yamaha makes it the better choice, plus the katana has power scaling so it adjusts to a more manageable volume.
@@AnthonyChhan Hve you had this amp and know for certain? Besides...once more advanced would not a person want to simply pick up a second amp more suited for a gig? Then you have this puppy at home all the time. EZ-PZ.
Yes sir. I have a katana 100. It is great for home and live. You can play it quiet as you want. But for full time home, then the Yamaha would be a great choice. The katana makes sense because it grows with you and if there is any chance you may someday play out you'd already be prepared with an amp you already have and already familiar with.
I have thr5 but idont like the when the gain is full master is full volume is full tone 1/2.. no effect sounds like a broken speaker, I dont know is that normal? Also can I play bass on this amp? thanks pls help me..
Would not recommend playing bass on this amp. I would not recommend playing this amp with full on gain and master, you will run out of head room and it will sound terrible. You need a higher watts than 5 if you need to crank it up so high.
@@deanwolfechannel ok... that is clean settings.. So its normal sounds when all knob is full.. It can be damage my thr? I try once only? Thank you for your answer..

No the phones would mute the speakers, but a usb out to a computer puts out while headphones plugged.

Maybe I missed this part, but what’s the guitar you use with this and? I believe it’s a Stratocaster, but which model?

I haven't used another amp at home for years
Really! I bought another version (used) and will be trying it out soon.
@@deanwolfechannelLooking forward to that.
Great video bro,I was hot now you sold it.thanks
Crunch with high gain sounded good
Is this amp good for high gain or metal?
I think another one of their models is more geared to high gain. I'd have to double check
Compared to the boss katana mini, which one is good??
I havent tried out the Boss
I sold the katana mini to buy this great little thing. The THR 5 is a REAL amp!!! The Boss is like a toy sounding box. THR all the way!
Would you recommend this amp for professional guitar recording? I'm building a small portable studio. Man this sounds very good actually
Sure
@@deanwolfechannel Yamaha sure is helping the music industry in an affordable way
Guitar equals happy, it certainly does. Similar amp to my Boss Katana Air, nice =)
What’s the height of the amp? Including the handle?
Sorry I no longer have this amp. Had too many.
can i connect Zoom g1xon effect to it? what will the sound be like if i connect it with a multieffect like zoom?
if you go into your effect then into the amp, it should sound just fine
Can I use this amp for clasical guitar?
I think no- but they have a new model just for acoustic guitars
@@deanwolfechannel what would happen if i use electricacoustic guitar connects to it?
How long can play with only batteries?
Up to 6 hours,
Speaker out?
aux and phones out only.

Can you connect a looper pedal to it?
any pedal you want.
Could I plug this into my laptop and play music with it?
Yes. Into the auxiliary input. Just use a cable with 1/8 inch jacks
Yes, also via USB I believe.

Been using Bias amp software for a while. The latency just bugs me though. Do you know if this amp has any such problems if playing into a DAW?
I’ve experienced no issues, nor heard of any complaints about it online
