    Recently, a trans person tried to tell me, and other women about periods. I was like please stfu as you never have and never will have one. The complete audacity and delusion. This person was also always victimizing themselves and leading with their issues of being autistic, and I think I might’ve been the first person to ever say “nobody cares” to their face.
    And about international women’s day: telling women that we need to do anything (such as uplifting other women just because we are women) is the patriarchy disguised. It is a control tactic meant to keep us small and from achieving our goals. We do enough. Being kind is great, but kindness doesn’t make people leaders or achievers. This same messaging isn’t given to men, and they’re running the world.

    • @shallonlester

      YES. The patriarchy disguised, spot on. Stop telling me what to do, WE ALREADY DO IT ALL. And if I dont fly around like Batman elevating anything with a vulva I'm a bad person? Fuck outta here.
      And you're precisely right MEN are not getting this messaging. Never have I heard "Bros help bros!" NOT ONCE.

      An Australian brand for women's swimsuits called Seafolly just hired a non binary man, with all his "original" parts and some women spoke out saying they didn't agree with this. And he's hit back saying "some women have P*nises" I'm sorry, but no we don't. And I need to see how the swimwear will look on a female body, not a hairy man with a 🍆!!! When I was a teen I didn't want to be a woman. I didn't like how society started to perceive me and I didn't feel I'm fitting to a role.
    But I realised at the age of 18 that woman is not a role. Woman is a material reality. There is no wrong way to be a woman. The same way as there is no wrong way to be a person with toes or blue eyes. I don't feel my womanhood is my identity. It's a fact. Identity is something that is partially internal and partially a social construct.
    I'm glad I didn't have access to mastectomy at the time, as some poor detransitioners had.

  • @Wild_flower_415
    @Wild_flower_415 Год назад +83

    I am a social worker, I truly believe gender ideology is dangerous for kids and teens. I see soo many young people identity as “trans” or “nonbinary” and like 90% of them have a history of sexual trauma or autism, or both. I truly don’t think a lot of them are trans. I mean there’s no harm in going by a different name/pronouns for a while but I really worry about the irreversible surgeries and the effects of hormones. There really needs to be a middle ground between respecting trans people and not confusing troubled kids with this stuff

    • @shallonlester
      @shallonlester  Год назад +29

      I haven’t seen this forever, so many “trans” people have been molested. It is simply not natural to feel THAT miserable in a healthy body. It’s not.
      There has to be a trauma bit again I’m the asshole for encouraging therapy and not surgery.
      Even if that not a factor IDK who thinks hormones will make them HAPPIER like dude do women seem happy to you?! WE ARE NOT.

    • @ettena93
      @ettena93 Год назад +6

      A lot of people in my country complain about how hard it is to get approved for gender reconstruction surgery, but doesn't it make sense to go through extensive therapy to screen out those who are simply confused? Not to mention healthcare is free where I'm from, if it was easy it would be hell to pay down the line. My guess is that a large chunk of people view it as a solution to a greater problem, imagine how powerless they feel when changing gender isn't the final answer. Not to mention how much silence surrounds the topic of complications. If a boobjob can go horrible wrong, imagine what can happen when massively re-arranging the reproductive organ. Going to college I see a lot of people who go by trans and non-binary, and all of them have mental health issues and have been diagnosed previously...? I'm not claiming that there aren't people out there who were born in the wrong body, but statistically there shouldn't be that many of them.

    • @beewest5704

      And even worse teens are amputating their breasts & mutilating themselves for a esthetic. TikTok is evil when it comes to brainwashing especially teen girls into mental disorders. CCP are very, very happy. While they teach kids coding American/ Western kids cannot define a woman. I'm glad this has not spread to my country but I know its only a matter of time.

    • @PinkTaurus93

      A few years ago it was considered a mental disorder to feel like you were “in the wrong body.”
      Now psychologists are telling middle schoolers that they should NOT accept themselves and they’ll give them meds and that’ll fix everything.
      It’s disgusting and so sad for those kids because they’ll be wondering how tf this happened to them in a few years.

    • @ania5038
      @ania5038 Год назад +3

      Yup and instead of making therapy easier to access for everyone, the treatment is automatically the most extreme and irreversible of socially transitioning, starting hormones and getting surgery. It doesn't heal the underlying wounds that continue to be there post-transition.

    I loved this video! Speaking purely from personal experience, it has always been the women that would make negative comments about my appearance (boobs, nose, body shape, etc), never a man. Also I was reading a study a few years ago that the biggest deterrent for promotion are not other men, but other women in the same company. So I don’t buy the whole “let’s lift each other up”. We each have to work on ourselves, to get to where we need to be, and then worry about supporting other women. Because of that, I now have an amazing group of female friends who don’t feel the need to compete with each other, because we’re each happy with our life! ❤

    Don't compare your worst days to someone's best days. It's not fair to you. Don't even compare yourself to what you were capable of a year ago versus now. Just do what YOU can, want, need to do TODAY.
    And yes sometimes just barely surviving is more than good enough💖Sometimes you can't even get out of bed for a whole day it doesn't mean you are lazy and unproductive it means your body needs rest and healing and you are in desperate need of peace and rest after years of trauma.

It may seem dumb, but I keep a journal and write down my emotions and reasons for relapsing to keep tabs on my triggers. I find it easier to show myself compassion when I discover patterns. From your comment I guess we don't have the same ED, but I hope you get to the end of that road someday. You're worthy of feeling healthy and nourished. But so I don't sound too preachy... we need international women’s day to remember our constant struggle throughout history and the present. i‘m not only thinking of the women in iran, afghanistan and ukraine but also bosniak women from my homeland bosnia who were put in rape camps during the genocide in the 90s. the fact that rape is used as a weapon against woman is beyond dehumanizing and reminds us that women will always be considered vulnerable because they are women.
    also knowing that almost every woman i know has dealt with domestic violence, narcissistic abuse and shame, makes this day of rememberance even more crucial. women are left to bear the brunt of the domestic household, child bearing and caring for the sick in the family. women work more than men and are at great risk for poverty when they retire. women get taught they‘re unworthy if they aren’t married and settle for a shit ass husband that will rob them of every happy emotion and self esteem. we need to teach women to be independent, to not fall victim to manipulation and exploitation and to stand up for themselves.

    Yes, International Women's day feels a little patronizing, but there are some very real things women (and men) can and should practice that I still consider minimal effort. Plus I never want to give performative armchair activists an out for actual tangible things they can do to help women. 1) Talk about finances -- how much are you making in your industry vs mine, what is your long-term and short-term investing strategy, how did you afford to purchase your home, etc 2) Mentor younger women that are new to your industry, lifestyle, etc, answer their questions, give real answers about what day-to-day life looks like, give them real tips & advice to help them along in their fields 3) Be an aspirational example (You said this and I 100% agree!!) 4) Think about women FIRST when you can -- if a position is open at work, refer her first, if there's a woman who you think would enjoy a certain hobby, include her and bring her in. Of course, we can't pour from our own cup if it's empty, but unfortunately, looking around and always having the view of "how can I enable a woman in this situation" is a good habit to form, better than hollow cheerleading from afar

    I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’m not really sure how to put it into words, but I wish that part of dealing with the identity of being trans (everyone has to “deal” with their identity, like I would have to deal with being a woman by learning about periods, self defence, shaving legs, working as a woman) is learning how to deal with having a body that is different from your perceived gender identity. I know there are trans people don’t go for sex change surgeries, but why should they?
    I know this isn’t the same at all, but I think about Shallon’s stance on plastic surgery in general. Fixing the nose you don’t like or the boobs you wish were bigger won’t magically make you more confident or happy with yourself. Learning to love your body and wanting to keep it healthy and happy is much more beneficial, right?

I could literally not enjoy your content more right now 🤩 out of curiosity: are you familiar with the whole manosphere content? Or is anyone in the comments section here? I read and listen to manosphere content. Because I genuinely want to know how men feel and think. But girllll there's a lot of toxicity in that whole community. Some of the things I hear being said about women is just so depressing cuz I really wanted to believe that men (at least some of them), valued women for more than physical appearance and didn't think that our expiration date is age 30.
      But then ya know most of these guys are prob angry incels.

    • @Nadja19869

      Thank you for your reply! "Toxic" is sometimes an understatement... 🙈 And then so many panels with really ratchety women, who can't even build together a cohesive sentence or two, annihilated by those well prepared men with misleading or wrong interpreted facts...but once in a while, I can relate. And my husband is the profeteer. Still I think, most of what they are talking about does simply not apply to regular folks (men not considering women over 30 or single moms as long term partners, only dating 22 year olds, that have to be "peaceful and submissive"... Well bless your hearts then...while the rest of us falls in love, falls out of love but enjoys our lives as a whole).
      Have a nice day🍀

    International Women’s Day has been a thing outside of the U.S. for a very long time. The U.S. only recently jumped on the bandwagon. But around the world, it’s an important celebration for many women. Claiming it is just performative takes away the history of the day globally

    I am a Terf, because trans women can’t truly understand the biological reality of women, the hormones, the periods, pregnancy, menopause, cultural experiences and expectations.
    Not to say that they don’t experience problems, they do, but those problems are not synonymous with being a women, but are exclusive to trans women, and if we can acknowledge differences as well as similarities we can have a meaningful conversation.

    My family told me about the Academy Awards having "The Year of the Woman" and it was pretty much a ceremony that had no women who were nominated for much of anything unless it was a specific "must be a woman" category, and it was an extremely disappointing event, even with showing clips of great actresses performances from decades of film, to a point it was laughable to exhausting.

  • @Playlistmastermind
    @Playlistmastermind Год назад

    To me, the whole concept of Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day, Men’s Day, Black History Month etc is ridiculous and hypocritical. Do you only love your wife and buy her gifts only on Valentine’s or Women’s Day? No and, if you do, get a grip. Do you only learn and celebrate black history during that one month? No and, if you do, are you really celebrating that culture and history or are you doing it to be politically correct? I get that it’s cute to have these days and months and stuff but if your man treats you like shit for 362 days a year but buys you bouquets and cars on your birthday, Women’s Day and Valentine’s Day, these days are nothing but an encouragement of hypocrisy.
    Another thing that bothers me with these things is that there are two extremists in the women’s community- one being mean girls/bullies and then those that are diehard obsessed with their identity being a “woman”. The mean girls have an issue with women that they deem as any kind of competition (whether it be beauty, brains, boys, business etc) and get cruel whilst also acting innocent in the eyes of others. Then there’s the WOMEN Allies who are so incredibly woke it’s disgusting (only buying things made by women, only watching films directed by women or saying that trans women have the right to celebrate Women’s Day too). And both of those types of women make the middleground women so confused because they don’t understand why finding female friendships are so difficult without being a threat to someone or how the toothpaste they buy is offending someone.
    I guess what I was trying to say with this rant is that there NEEDS to be a middle ground and Shallon, you’ve said it best.

      But I did want mastectomy and hysterectomy when I was 15 because enforced gender roles made me not want to be a woman. But I realised, thankfully that woman is a biological reality and not a personality, feeling or behaviour. I'm a woman because I'm a human female and it doesn't matter I'm not maternal or if I'm dominant or if I'm not emotional.
