Good to be back behind the drums playing some Animals as Leaders again. Easily one of the grooviest songs on the album it had to be played first… Good for me…
Big thanks to Forrester Savell for mixing the audio!

As if playing AAL wasn't hard enough, you add a polyrhythmic beat on top. That right there, is talent.
+Titouan Pierce
Guy is insane.
+Titouan Pierce he actually has a video of him doing a polyrhythmic groove on top of this groove. you should check it out. it's mind blowing.
+Titouan Pierce You know you're good when you can just casually throw a polyrhythm on top of a Matt Garstka track because you weren't quite having enough fun
hahahahaha....thats funy!
He worked really hard on getting a whole range of polyrhythms over a loop of this track, it's a great video to watch if you haven't already! :)
One thing I definitely do admire about Troy's playing is that despite being obviously very technically advanced, his chops are very tasteful. Never feels like overplaying, regardless of the type of song. Just pay attention to the very little and subtle things he adds over this cover playthrough.
He's got the most fluid technique I've ever seen, I swear no one moves like him, not even the GOATs, I could watch him play without sound for hours, that moeller technique on the left hand is so graceful it's insane, he's even opening his hand before he strikes when he hits from high up, that's how relaxed his hand is
Very well said
3:16 - 3:34 💪🏼⚡️👽
Hola :>
Luke holland already cover it.
Man,you should do a version of this
@@leereylem7420 luke holland version is far behind this one
I saw this guy yesterday at Sub89 in Reading, UK playing with Plini and some of the other guys from INTERVALS, he gave me his broken stick at the end of his set, met him after the show, not only is he the best drummer I'll ever see live but one of the most humble and down to earth people I've ever met. One of the best nights of my life
That little warmup fill at 3:17. Dude, I rewatched it 10 times. So. Effing. Good. Shoutout to the 31 people that don’t appreciate how incredible of a drummer you are. You people new here orrrrr?
You should cover language 1 and 2 by the contortionist
+Blake Warrens Yes!
+Blake Warrens It's got my vote. Would love to see that!
+Blake Warrens I also would like to see this. i got 1 down pat but the polyrhythms in 2 are fucking so hectic!
Get this to the top of the comments!!!!
+Blake Warrens Would love to see Thrive, maybe even more than language 1 and 2!
That snare could crack a castle of glass
You captured the groove of the song perfectly. Such a smooth, well played, mixed, and edited cover - great work Troy!
+Kevin Wade Couldn't have said it better myself!!!
I've watched this so many times.. so. many. times.. I'll probably watch it a bunch more. On top of ridiculous technical ability, amazing feel, and every other thing. He hits his drums like they owe him money. Everything is so amazingly deliberate.
Man, couldn't agree more! and I actually LOLed on the part about the money hahahaha
I dunno how many times I rewatched this masterpiece during these 6 six, and dunno how more times I will, just like you said
Man from 0:50 to 1:00 i litterally got goosebumps. Insane drumming skills, i don't even know how achieving such perfect control is even possible. Great job.
Dang, man. You break my brain with every video you post. Truly one of the best on RUclips. Keep it up!
Lol Luke , I see you everywhere in the comments haha...By the you do really good covers too , Love your work.
Those groupings of threes at 2:46 is insane man.
TROY! YOU KILLED IT!
+JohTheDrummerFreak He sure did Joh!!!
+JohTheDrummerFreak When do we get to see you cover more AIL?? Your Tooth and Claw cover was amazing, Joh!
You're one in a million on RUclips! Real drum sound, no triggers, pure real playing... Man, I love to watch your videos.
This song sounds like the weather channel
I love it though :)
+TheMeatballMen wow damn it..this is all i'm gonna think about when i hear this song. haha
Dude, if the weather channel had music this good, i'd watch a lot more of it! lol
Biggest compliment to all weather channels around the world. Although, I don't hear any similarities. Maybe that's because I've not seen any weather channel in about a decade :D
the most beautifully intricate weather you can imagine. very similar to lightning during a blizzard, but the lightning is constant and it crawls over every inch of visible sky and the snow is falling at a gorgeously hypnotic rate
Sounds like Cloudy with a chance of meatballs to me.
my god the sound of your toms in this is absolutely amazing.
New Meshuggah album out... get to work boi
RIP
Finally! The cover we been waiting for years and I have to say it sounds amazing
Hey Troy I've been watching your videos for a while now maybe about 3 years and I just wanted to say you're a huge inspiration to me you've shown me that you can accomplish so much more with such a simple set up and you're video lessons really help a lot, since I can't really read music that well you make it easier to understand. Thanks Troy!
loved the freestyle at the end. need more of that in everyone's drum videos, it's really nice to see what flows out of people organically without being bound by the song! really awesome!
This guy never ceases to amaze me.
Another flawless victory from the amazing Troy Wright. I would never expect anything less 😎
I love his own twist he puts to this song. Such a beast
Absolutely dominant! Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Troy!
Way more natural and loose when compared to other covers around, it even has some details in playing that make it tastier than the albums version lol Awesome!!
man, I have so much respect for you. You are KILLING it bro. definitely one of my favorite, if not my number one favorite drummer on RUclips. Props
2:18 this parts gives me chills everytime
It is SO satisfying to watch you play! Thanks for putting out all those vids man!
There simply are no better drum covers on RUclips than yours. So smooth that it hurts!!!
This guy's hand technique is astounding! He has the most control I've ever seen next to Matt Garstka... how?!
that might be THE PERFECT STACK combo.
Jonathan Lanoy what is in the stack? :)
One of my favorite drummers great style
Best mix so far! love it
Looking forward to your cover of Nostrum!
It is such a pleasure watching you play.
Loved how you switched it up and added your own variations over matts playing
Yes! Been waiting for this!
my favorite song from this album just for how groovy it is. great cover!!
Great cover, really well played and grooved. Your own fills and embellishments really brought the song even more alive but weren't overplayed.
Insane. Made me fall in love with this song
I swear every time I check your channel you seem to upload what I want to see. Great job.
DUDE i saw you with Plini in Petaluma on tour with intervals you killed it man
+Evan Yoshino thanks man. Petaluma was such a fun show!
Saw you at Webster Hall with Plini/Intervals. Hope NYC gave you the welcoming you deserve :P

The violent sleep of reason medley ! ^^
Fuck YEAH!
Oh fuck YEAH !

Wow, That snare sound is incredible! I also love your playing and how you added your own creative input, rather than playing it note for note. Everything is top notch. I wish I lived in AU so I could study with you.
That was PERFECTION! You are an ABSOLUTE animal!
Oh no! First Dirty Loops, now Troy. When will they ever get their colour back?!
The groove is strong with this one.

I've been waiting for this also... Effing NICE!!!
been waiting for this!!!
dude great content!!! please keep up with the amazing work!!
this is so groovy man, thanks for the upload
Theres some drummers that are just enjoyable to watch. The music and rhythm seem to flow. There's something so satisfying about the long powerful strokes (pun definitely not intended) that make it seem like these songs are actually easy to play. Some drummers may be incredibly talented and technical, but they look almost uncomfortable while they play, like they can barely keep up.
Him, his drumset, a stage and this song looped from 3:54 to 4:54... set it up and I will seriously buy tickets to watch this guy just play until he runs outta gas. SUPER deep pocket on this groove man. Exceptional playing.
Those drums sound sooooooo goood.
Oh yeah this is great!! How long have you had your channel? Def gonna subscribe
best snaresound i've heard in a long time! Thumbs up bro!!!! :D
Amazing cover, on my list of songs to play drums to once I get good enough!
Always killin' it
Your snare always sounds soooo good
amazing as always! such a tough tune to play
solid as a rock man...you look like a good teacher dude!! some of your students look to be pretty special too! good luck in all that you do :)
Bro! your drumming skills slayed me!!
Sensational Troy!! Smart composition. Congrats
The rolls at 3:25 - holy crap
Amazing work !!!
