So typically how would I practice this so that it becomes a natural way of breathing? Right now sitting here doing this I get dizzy. And I guess the other thing is that I've always been told to "suck in your belly" to help make the abdominal stronger. This kinda goes against that. Your thought would be much appreciated.

Hi there! Yes, we've all been told to suck it in, so it can be hard to switch to breathing diaphragmatically. It takes some practice, but it will come. The best way I can explain how to do this is to relax your mid section/belly area. Allow the belly to expand on the inhalation. Then squeeze the belly small on the full exhalation. If you can lengthen the breath on the exhalation, this will help slow the breath down, thus you will not get light headed.

What is the best position to sleep in?

Sleeping on your back offers the most benefits, but there are also benefits to sleeping in other positions!

Duration of the inhale and exhale?

    • @leigh7802

Breathe in for 4 count and exhale for 6 count and holding that exhale and engaging root to expel as much breath as you can comfortably.

can u breath in through nose and of mouth? i see many experts do this and even mediation masters

There are many different ways of breathing, but we promote (and practice) the in and out through the nostrils. If you are interested in learning more about why, check out the book called Breath by James Nestoor. It's a great book.

I don’t understand how his ribs can stay so low and flat while he’s lying flat like that. I wish mine could do that.

Block Therapy can help if your ribs flare out.

  • @feelwundervoll

The diaphragm is sitting much higher than you are showing... and if the belly moves the diaphragm does not necessarily move... for me, non of the ways of breathing he is showing is using the diaphragm to its fullest potential! In my experience, what you are teaching is wrong. For example, there is no way for the diaphragm to move then the ribcage is expanding!!! Mecanically impossible.
