  • Joey and Brad check out the new compact version of one of our most loved pedals to date. The Golden Boy Mini takes the transparent drive and versatility from the original, two selectable clipping modes(asymmetric and LED), and gives it a smaller, more focused footprint. With a more accessible price tag, the Golden Boy Mini makes a perfect companion for any creative application.

    Great video, it looks like a really nice overdrive. Today i was watching Joey's new pedalboard in a Premiere Guitar rig rundown and to my surprise Joey is not using the GOLDEN BOY (FULL OR MINI) at all.... was the reason of that? Thanks.

      Joey is always swapping pedals on his board. His quest for tone never ends. My guess is he is always searching. He has signature pedals with Mythoes but doesn't always have them on his board. This is just my opinion, though. Cheers.

    The mini version is a good idea, I had the big one and midi only allows you to change the mode, and the gain stage is useless with so many jumps, if it were 50% 100% maybe since once you advance you have to go around the cycle to return to your starting point. I finally sold it because I found it very noisy at high gain compared to other pedals I have.

    • @JacksonAudio
      @JacksonAudio  Год назад +3

      The gain Cycle is even more useful for midi, you can assign each increment. for example one button can pull up asymmetric at 75%. Another assignment can be symmetric 25% gain cycle. Not just scrolling.

    What's the black pedal on the amp? Looks like it has a blinking led, is it a delay?

      New Wave Chorus "Vice Edition". We were having fun with it before the shoot.

    Loved the tone of the Golden Boy but hated the delay when stepping on the switch. Does this pedal have a delay when stepping on it like the original or is it regular switching like an mxr pedal?

    Hey Brad, I just got a GB mini and I am thoroughly enjoying it. One question though: is it supposed to have a significant difference in volume between the Asym/LED settings? Seems mine has a big jump when switching from Asym to LED. Love your products!

    • @JacksonAudio
      @JacksonAudio  8 месяцев назад +1

      That's totally normal. Each Diode clips differently so there is a corresponding level change.

    The only downside to all of this is when the original came out, I paid $300. No one will ever be able to come close to that resale now based on the minis price point and there are many pedals I have personally sold ‘used’ to recoup most if not all and even profit on my original purchase. Specific gripe I know but stinks for your first buyers since not every pedal is forever.
    Nice work on this to all at Jackson Audio, btw I don’t plan on selling my G.B. but it’s the only pedal I’ve had recently that’s value fell off a cliff shortly after release
