    I have been using it for over two years and introduced it to my friend, a professional artist, who is now using it. It compares very favorably to Arches, Fabriano and Winsor and Newton. The only thing some people might not like is the texture if they want a very smooth surface. Arches, in the past, was the gold standard as you know. But in today’s market there are many comparable papers.

    Hi Niaz. This looks like a very high quality paper. The way though you handle it, fold it with bare hands and crease it with your finger nails is not right. You risk to ruin the sizing of the paper, scratch it and leave finger prints on it that will repel the watercolour paint. Use a bone folder for this job.

    My favorite too! Just fyi, Baohong has these VERY useful, inexpensive ($11) “Sample book”, about 4x5 inches, connected on one side with adhesive, 18 pages, 6 CP, 6 HP and 6 rough..
    I’ve been collecting them for a few years..connected 2 together with duct tape and made a hardish cover from a cereal box. I’ve made 1 a Master swatch book…using a stamp, could put 2 on each sheet, front and back. Another one I made to put small mixing charts and “recipe’s” for some of my favorite mixes. They’re also GREAT to separate…I put my heavily granulating and separating paints and mixes on the rough..and several I just made into small sketch books, again, putting 2 together and making covers. I made some for my daughter and best friend-to fit their particular needs. My friend wanted ONLY HP and Rough, while my daughter prefers only CP!

    Don’t forget, the Chinese invented paper. I used this paper and liked it though I use their rough texture more. If you buy the blocks you will find that the glue is very strong and doesn’t come loose while you are working which is something I found with other brands. Each block even comes with a plastic knife to separate the pieces. The paper itself is very tough and holds up to scrubbing better than other brands I’ve tried. The rough is probably the roughest of papers, 0:03 which I personally like. The price is great, too.

    Congratulation for you to found a paper that is ideal for you.
    I'll probably try it out at some point, I still have a lot of paper at the moment.
    My go to that don't have such high standard prices are Fabriano Rosapina 60% cotton and Tiepollo 100%,
    these are actually papers for printing art, but also work well for watercolours and are between cold pressed and hot pressed.
    Vang Provonce 100% Cotton and torchon.
    Vang Cascade Hot pressed or Fabriano Design no5 50% cotton for hot pressed paper,
    Otherwise, I also really like Etival from Clairefontaine, a little more expensive than the watercolor paper from Fabriano, but has a surface that is more reminiscent of expensive watercolour papers

    Well, well. I guess I have this paper already at home. It seems to be nice, but did you notice that "mini dots" I mean not the ones from a (probably dripping) brush or the ones you're actively doing for style. I'm talking about "mysteriously" appearing ones when you start to secondly wash your foreground water. It really concerns me. I haven't had that before.

It is cheaper to tear the paper myself into any shape I want. Paper made in Europe has less carbon footprint than the ones from Asia. No, it will break the price fixing monopoly they currently enjoy. Arches, Strathmore and Canson are all owned by the same parent company Dixon, and each is kept in it's own lane as not to be too competitive with each other.
      Besides, what country do you think inverted paper in the first place? China was producing watercolor papers hundreds of years before the west started painting on canvas.

    • @watercolourmark
      @watercolourmark Месяц назад +7

      @@johnjones928- You seem confused about this. Watercolour started in the late 1400s. The first cotton paper was in the 1800s. Both are Western disciples.
