Another excellent one, Mr. Tony. Appreciate it. Hope you'll consider similar yearly guides for other toylines like Transformers & G. I. Joe. Had several MOTU figures, or rather my little brother did. The real disappointment was the Man-at-Arms figure; he looked nothing at all from the cartoons. Also, the Sorceress should've been added as a bonus to Castle Greyskull. I think a reason why you didn't get Teela was similar to a LOT of kids; their parents wouldn't believe a boy would WANT a female figure, even if its Scarlett from G. I. Joe or Princess Leia from Star Wars. Zodac is indeed confusing as the figure was described as a Cosmic Enforcer in the toyline, yet in the cartoons, he was like Marvel's Watcher, he observes but cannot intervene, even when Orko once asked him to assist He-Man. I think Zodac was an ally of the Sorceress in the cartoon.
Ooh, Stratos was one of my favorites. Check out the original mini-comics and of course, the animated series. Both show him shooting energy beams from his hands. No need for weapons! :)
I was fortunate as a kid, I had all these and I loved them all, so many fond memories of the battles we had. I safely stored them away at my old mans place. Unfortunately missed his “mid life” crisis mental breakdown. He threw them all in the rubbish including my transformers, TMNT and LEGO.... He wasn’t expecting my reaction, but was deserved. Fucking clown, guess it was his money (as he “lovingly” told me) ergghh
When I was a kid my favourite He-Man figures was Stratos because as he had a mask on and his face was obscured it was easier for me to pretend that was me. Same for Star Wars figures, my favourites were the AT-AT Driver and the Tie Fighter Pilot because they wore helmets I could pretend they were me. Consequently in my Star Wars figure battles they were on the side of the Rebellion. Lol
Did anyone else's Battle Cat rattle as if there was a loose tiny fragment of plastic inside? Mine did as did my mates one...Just wondering if it was a thing, probably from the production of our fearless friend.
Cracking selection. Truly some legendary toys. 😁 It's easy to forget how experimental this series was back in the day, between bodging together themes and concepts, shrinking from the 12" scale and reusing parts in such a creative way. Pretty much invented *the modern action figure.* I grew up with the *2002 incarnation of MotU.* What little of the '02 TV show I watched (weird schedules), I liked it, but I didn't get the toys 'cos I probably wasn't aware of the TV/toy line catch-22. Seriously wish I grabbed the Skeletor of that line. He was a nightmarish, Frazettan masterpiece. ☠ Got into the '80s He-Man in my teens watching reruns of the cartoons. Haven't looked back since. 😆 I got _the Art of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe_ book a few years back. Really got me interested in toy development and, well, it's also a nice art book. Must hunt down the other books of MotU lore and mini-comics. I like these collector guide vids. Hope to see more, Tony! 👍
if youre going for true 82, skelly had "half boot" paint, merman had a green belt, teela had brown hair, not red, and man at arms had red dots on his helmet
My younger brother had all of those back in the 80s. Plus castle greyskull and snake mountain. All the vehicles. I was into him voltron and transformers and gi joe.
I collect loose MOTU, TMNT as they are still fairly affordable and quite easy to find complete and in a working state compared to other 80's toylines. The only real break point for MOTU is the legs.
I had all of these figures except Stratos. I saw him in the store but decided to get another figure instead, I never saw Stratos in stores again after that. He's the one that got away. I didn't have Castle Grayskull or the vehicles. But I did have two Battle Cats.
Hmmm, maybe you haven't got Teela simply because it was a "girl" figure, and you were at the "yaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkk - a girl" age ... "Unlike a bit later when you got older and somehow most obtained action figures are sexy female?
I never had any of them, I never really got into the figures. Loved the animated series though. But in retro-spec, I really think that if I had gotten them as a child I probably would have like them. My thing as a kid was Joe's. Legos and Matchbox/Hot Wheels, lol, I remember playing little cars in the back yard for hours..anyway, thanks for the great video Tony!!
The suit in the throne room. I always assume it was just a regular suit of armor. But upon further glancing. I notice it more advance. I wonder if that was suppose to be Queen Marlena's space suit when she first came to enternia?
I never got Teela as well, my mother thought she looked to much like a Barbie so attributed her as a girls toy, subsequently, I also never got Evil-Lyn.
I loved MOTU when it was released. I had Castle Grayskull and most of the figures. However, of all the great 80’s toy lines, MOTU hasn’t aged well with my nostalgia; though I will say that Castle Grayskull is definitely one of the top playsets of all time.

Lol
I'll be turning 45 in August I remember those toys well
Did anyone else's Battle Cat rattle as if there was a loose tiny fragment of plastic inside? Mine did as did my mates one...Just wondering if it was a thing, probably from the production of our fearless friend.
Walking down an alley in Bangkok 3 years ago, found all original Hordak, Beast Man, Prince Adam, Skeletor, and Ram Man. $2/each. Bought them all!
Cracking selection. Truly some legendary toys. 😁
It's easy to forget how experimental this series was back in the day, between bodging together themes and concepts, shrinking from the 12" scale and reusing parts in such a creative way. ☠
Got into the '80s He-Man in my teens watching reruns of the cartoons. Haven't looked back since. 😆
I got _the Art of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe_ book a few years back. Really got me interested in toy development and, well, it's also a nice art book. Must hunt down the other books of MotU lore and mini-comics.
I like these collector guide vids. Hope to see more, Tony! 👍
Thank you very much h for making this video!
Toys are not what they used to be. I feel sorry for these kids nowadays.
You and Pixel Dan need to do a Motu collab! Would be totally epic!
i had all these as a kid, but i didn't take care of them.
Was collecting Star Wars when these came out but now I feel I missed out
Never too late to start, my friend.
This WAS my Star Wars. Was a bit too young really for the first 2 movies. I was 6 in 83' and MOTU mad at the time.
if youre going for true 82, skelly had "half boot" paint, merman had a green belt, teela had brown hair, not red, and man at arms had red dots on his helmet
My younger brother had all of those back in the 80s. Plus castle greyskull and snake mountain. All the vehicles. I was into him voltron and transformers and gi joe.
I have Beastman, Triclops and Prince Adam 🤔 I’m trying to get my hands on more figures
Look on Facebook marketplace
Gerard Raney yup! That’s where I’ve been shopping 👍🏽
I really enjoy Mer-Man's pickle-sword.
Pickle sword?! Lmbo
I thought it was a corn cob.
@@DavidRCelebrezze me too looked like a baby corn
I remember getting castle grayskull for my birthday when I was 5 years old. Those were the days man. Thankyou for this 👍
I always forget about Telas cobra armour, which is a shame, its pretty awesome.
Had Stratos too.
I'll show you my Eternia playset if you show me yours....
When did they put out the weapons packs. Those were cool.
Wasnt there a purple cat (cant remember its name) for Skekletor, similar to Battle Cat? It had a velvet skin.......
Yes but it didn't come out until 1983
i grew out of action figures just as these were coming out, otherwise i would have had them all....
Can I just say how much I love your chill theme music, Tony?
Hmmm, maybe you haven't got Teela simply because it was a "girl" figure, and you were at the "yaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkk - a girl" age ... "Unlike a bit later when you got older and somehow most obtained action figures are sexy female?
But I got Evil-Lyn...
Tony, was it ‘82 when we got motu in the UK? My memory is bad (would have 2 year old) but I seem to recall getting the first wave in 84’ or 85’
I think you're right
Another great history lesson
I never had any of them, I never really got into the figures. Loved the animated series though. But in retro-spec, I really think that if I had gotten them as a child I probably would have like them. My thing as a kid was Joe's. Legos and Matchbox/Hot Wheels, lol, I remember playing little cars in the back yard for hours..anyway, thanks for the great video Tony!!
MOTU has some of the most toy set designs and box art worthy of staring at for hours.
Li avevo tutti, poi li regalai ha mio cugino
Yes, outstanding!
great video. thanks
I have the collectors Case
Guessing you never owned Fortress of Fangs OR M.A.S.K Boulder Hill then, i owned both and they were tons better.
@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784 Neither are quite as iconic.
@@mathewbarrie9149 werent as popular toyline yes, but were better playsets.
I love the He-Man and I watchin his cartoon until today!
