The Mego 3 3/4" Dukes Of Hazzard figure line also has inconsistent articulation. The Bo & Luke figures are very similar to GI Joe figures while the rest of the line features only five poa.
I remember one commercial for these toys to this day, including lyrics: "They're the A-TEAM! (yeah they're soldiers of fortune), They're the A-TEAM! (helpin' people in need) / You can pretend that you're Hannibal, Murdoch or Face! Or even B.A. Baracus (you know each one is an ace)!' I watched the show faithfully, and after 40 years I have one lingering question: did anybody EVER pay them?
George Peppard was an alcoholic by this stage in his career and because he has been a movie star he resented Mr T being the most popular with the fans leading to a lot of tension on set. There was a docu about it, Mr T was fairly magnanimous about it as he knew Peppards alcoholism was a major factor in the problem. It was a bit sad to hear those details.
As an FYI, the MEGO Dukes of Hazzard and CHiPs lines both had fully-articulated main characters with minor characters/adversaries having only the five POA. I agree that it is a bizarre, but cost-saving, choice.
Now this is a great video about the Galoob A-Team. Best part: “they’re mostly pretty awful” regarding the figures. Haha! I love my Interceptor Jet Bomber, but agree it’s far too fragile.
I like it, but Murdock never flew a jet. The van and vet are the best. Half track close second. However, nod to the jet as being a good JOE sky striker on a budget.
This was great, Tony. You’re the first person I “know” who had/has these toys. I saw them everywhere as a kid, including the grocery store, believe it or not. I hated the generic bodies and terrible face sculpts and saw them for the GI Joe ripoffs they were, and like a lot of us of that generation, I was all-in on Joe since 1982. However… I DID have one Gen. Patch figure I got in 1983, purely because I wanted a General Flagg for my Joes. The package said the weapons smelled like battle(?) but they smelled like plastic to me. Believe me, I smelled them a lot, wondering what I was missing. Until now I had no idea Gen. Patch was re-purposed for the A-Team, thanks to your video. Makes total sense!! Thanks for that. Again, well done. This was a nice trip down Amnesia Lane for this old kid.
This video has again stirred the desire in me to get the van I recall it in the shops as a kid and have yet to ever have or play with one. Thanks Tony for the efforts to get all the toys needed for thia review and the high quality production, giving this line the love it deserves.
I had the headquarters set as a kid. I didn't use much out of it other than the action figures and the parachutes. I was just happy to have the A-Team.
Great review! I got the Combat Headquarters from my grandparents one birthday and remember being rather underwhelmed. I never did get any of the vehicles, the Corvette sure does look cool though, I have the ERTL version now, but I think both Galoob and ERTL had scaling problems with this car. The ERTL version is slightly too big and the Galoob version slightly too small. Oh and you forgot to mention the ERTL A-Team van....... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When the wings broke off of the jet, I just pretended it was a rocket. The heads of the figures were hollow and made of soft rubber, different from the bodies. My brother and I stole the tiny rubber bands from my sister’s braces supplies. We’d put them on the figure’s wrists to hold their weapons in place. I also had a die cast van some other company made. Same scale, sliding side door, but it had a likeness of B.A. molded into the driver’s seat. I liked that the bad guys didn’t look like soldiers but generic goons - it was one of the only things from the toy line that was true to the show
Back in the day, I got the A-Team 4 pack (since the 6 inch figures weren't exactly the most affordable) as well as Face's 'vette (the Galoob version), would've loved to have the van.
First could Face toy be based on the original actor who played him in the pilot. Also I have a vague memory of Wimpy (the burger chain in the UK) giving A-Team away for probably a promotion or something
I came looking for this video after my children found an M60 in my old Lego box. I had the A-Team boat, it went well in the bath, it got re-purposed over many years and was only a hull when it went down the stream at my parents in the 90s. The figures broke at some stage and are inside a metal pipe in the garden at my parent’s house 😢 happy days watching the A-Team on a Saturday and jumping out of a tree with my toy M16! Thanks for the video
There are more A-Team toys than this. There was a really cheap Van and Corvette sold through the department store Pamida here in the US. They weren't just knock-offs, as they had full-on A-Team stickers and logos. They were MUCH cheaper than even these and you could get them for just a few bucks. No windows in the van (just cutouts), you couldn't get to the rear seats, and the only way to get a driver and passenger in was through the tiny sunroof. The Vette was totally sealed, but did have a windshield. They were scaled to be just a bit bigger than my 1989 Batmobile.
Tony's toy retrospective videos are always my favourite from the content that he creates. It was his Action Force retrospectives that originally brought me to the channel and this was another great watch. Gen Patch was something I'd never heard of! Cheers Tony.
I'm only in my early 20s but i remember watching A-Team re-runs on TV in Canada as a kid so it is very cool seeing the OG toys that were made when the show originally aired.
Damn, nostalgia slap me in the face. I had the Mego 3 3/4" Dukes Of Hazzard Bo & Luke figures, I also had the ERTL Face Corvette. I always wanted the Galoob The A-Team figures and B.A. van, but I could get them. Nice video!
I had the van but had T fixed to the seat in 1983 or 4. The sliding door opens but not sure if that was a Galoob release ? Loved the show as a kid but the funny thing is alot of the outdoor scenes in the country remind me of the Incredible Hulk series with Bixby traveling around in small country towns or hitchhiking on the roads.
I remember my cousin went through 5 or 6 vans at the toy store before finally finding one that didn’t have defective wheels. I got lucky with my Face corvette on the first try
All of the 80s A-team vans were produced in black (lazy, or cheap, you decide), which led to the Mandela effect of people thinking that the real in series van was black too. There was a pub quiz row about this!
Loved this review Tony! Great job my friend. My favorite score of the 1980s which served as play scenarios for my JOE’S. Loved watching it with my Dad who was himself, a Vietnam Vet. Great memories. Now…I’m gonna have to get that van
Excellent video, sir! The only 80's property that has not been milked to death over the past few years. I guess good guys beating the bad guys and saving the day is not reboot material in this cultural environment. If you review the 6" scale line and need photos of the rare Command Center, I have a boxed unopened example and would be happy to share photos. Big fan and patreon sub for you and Mr. French.
Glad you have done this vid! I was a massive fan as a child in the 80s!!! I have the A Team figures and the bad guys both sets unopened in box! Worth a fair bit...
Yeah! I had the van and the complete set of figures. That van was amazing honestly. I also had the 6" tall figures and the B.A. doll. Wearing his signature Chuck Taylor's
Loved that line. Randomly we have some video footage of me as kid looking at A-Team toys in a toy shop in 83/84. There was so much random stuff you could buy.
Great review! Though I watched the show, I never really got into it like my friends did. I did incorporate many of the ideas, like the good guys scratch building an armored vehicle, into my playtime with other my toys. It was a fun show with a simple concept that became iconic of the 80's.
Great video Tony! I had all these figures but not the vehicles as a kid. I love the A-team. I recently acquired the Arco M24 Assault rifle play set (video on my channel) and it put me back into an A-team obsession. But once I started looking into the cost of these vintage figures and vehicles I slowed right down as I knew the quality of these vintage toys just wasn't there. I will always keep my eyes open for A-team figures and vehicles especially the GMC van but it's more of the nostalgia of my childhood than collecting a great piece. Thank you for the great look at the A-team toys we know and loved! Cheers man!
Another superb breakdown!!! 👍🏾👍🏾💯🔥🔥🔥🔥 The one line my mom just couldn't track down unless she went deep into the suburban TRUs. She opted for more socks instead that year😂😂😂
One of your all time best vids Tony!!! This is giving me a major itch now to go back and collect these! I have the figs, but used a combo of Joes, and Corps figures to customize them into more screen accurate looks(as much as one can using those parts) Now I need these to display with them!!!
What an excellent, comprehensive video. While I’m satisfied with having all the six inch figures, I always thought about collecting the 3.75” line, but thanks to your video, I can keep my money for better things .
Amazing retrospect. ❤️ We had some of these growing up. Specifically I think it was a 4 pack of the cast. They were so cheap and fragile, with the goofy rubber heads and crossed eyes lol. I think we were too focused on Joes to get any of the vehicles. They were more just back ground characters and I remember at least one of them having firecracker burn marks…😇 my bro, me and the neighborhood kids played really hard with our toys. I recall having more fun with the bigger 5POA figures. We also had some of the bad guys at that scale, which was similar to the Karate Kid scale toys our dad surprised us with including the Dojo and several figures one summer visiting him. Good times! 👍
Because of the reuse nature of the bodies, I aways thought of them as a version that was a sort of prequel to the series; like when they were serving in combat together. I kind of wish that the line had continued, eventually I'd like to think they would have gotten around to tooling for more screen accurate outfits and adding a "Triple A" figure.
A good ol' fashioned toyline retrospective to start the week, thanks Tony! I remember seeing that 4 figure pack sold in bazaars in my neighborhood which were the only places we could find toys, back then the nearest toy stores were in big malls like a city away. At first I thought they were bootleg GI-Joes because they all look so generic and they also sold lots of knockoff gobots and Voltrons, too.
Brilliant video, thank you! I had the figures as a kid (and recently managed to get them again in good condition from eBay). I also had die-cast versions of the van and Face's Corvette, and the van had a sliding door on the side.I also had a die-cast General Lee that seemed to come from the same range. Were they the Ertl versions? And do the Ertl versions of the van and Corvette fit the figures just as well as the Galoob vehicles? I can't remember, but I'm interested in picking them up again, and I only ask because I've also seen versions of the van that have BA from the torso up in the driver seat, and I'm not sure who made that or if that was the van I had. I don't think it was, but it was 40 years ago... Thanks again.
Excellent video! I received the so called playset for Christmas when i was about 4. I loved it but remember thinking the quality was rubbish. The rifles on seemed to fit in the figuires hands if they were balanced at a certain angle.
The tv van started grey top half and black main body and the toys became all black either due to cost cutting and/or didn't realise it was a dark grey all along. In the end the tv series changed the van to all black so the toys became screen accurate 👍
I had these back then and I loved them. They always hung around with Slaughters Maurauders in the toy box. Like a special GI Joe subunit. I also vaguely remember having Fall Guy and Michael Knight figures in roughly the same scale, but I think they had the 5 point articulation.
Another gem of a video mate. I never had these as a teenager but I do remember how cool they looked in that packaging. That Ertl helicopter was a great accessory to use with the toy line too. I wonder of the Corvette would work with the Playmobil A-Team set.... hmmm! Thanks for sharing, mukka.
This is great info! I’ve always been an articulation snob and compared everything to GI Joe, so I never got any of these. Friends had the vehicles which were cool.
Great retrospective. For me the six inch figures, with their more accurate look, were way more appealing. I had those and also the large Mr. T doll/figure. But what a crazy phenomena A-Team was. Weird 80s zeitgeist stuff for sure. But fun to revisit...thanks!
Oddly enough I have only been able to find the Combat Headquarters set so far. But love this video as it confirmed what I already suspected as a child, that the Gen. Patch line was used for the A-team. My Gen. Patch soldiers were used as the MP's tracking down the A-team.
I never owned these back in the day, but one of my vivid memories was seeing these for the first time in the mall and there was this big kid who was making fun of his little bro BC he was looking at Star Wars, but was praising the A-Team toys. BTW great vid but U 4got 2 mentioned the infamous Argentina A-Team versions, which were even more famous than these even in 2024. N do not care what anyone says... Yes Mr. T was the Icon....Face was the playboy that every girl wanted to b with and every guy wanted to look like n of course Hannibal was the leader but the fact is MURDOCK the heart of the show! Without MURDOCK the show would not as been as big...he was the secret weapon who added comedy relief while not taking away from the theme...he was the heart n the perfect team member to compliment the others...
Wow you really went there with the "U 4got" comment. If you read the title of this video it clearly indicates that I am discussing the toys made by Galoob. I didn't forget about the Argentinian versions, I chose not to discuss them because they were made by Glasslite and not Galoob.
@@AnalogToys U do realize the avg person watched thsi has no clue about the unknown Argentian market right? They still make "Brigada A" customs/bootlegs carded in 2024!
Neat video Tony! I had the figures as a kid but never the van sadly. But that sure is cool looking... I also had a bunch of the galoob demon ranger/American defense figures too.
My Murdock and Face figures shoulder joints rusted and broke in short order. I also had numerous issues with the 6" figures. The 3 3/4 scale were usually allies/enemies of my Joe's. The Armored attack vehicle saw a lot of use as a H.I.S.S. stand in.
Great video tony I was tempted to buy a team vehicles the only thing I brought was a a team 4 pack for the accessories a a team jet would have cost the same price as a hyena at the time judging by how fragile that jet is I made the right choice
Another fascinating and entertaining vintage toy review from Tony, this time examining the classic Galoob A-Team action figures and their vehicles. But after watching this excellent video, it begs the question: Why hasn't a modern toy company taken up the challenge to produce a new, more accurate A-Team toyline?
The Mego 3 3/4" Dukes Of Hazzard figure line also has inconsistent articulation. The Bo & Luke figures are very similar to GI Joe figures while the rest of the line features only five poa.
Good to know!
bo and luke need to fit in the charger so they need the articulation.
I remember one commercial for these toys to this day, including lyrics: "They're the A-TEAM! (yeah they're soldiers of fortune), They're the A-TEAM! (helpin' people in need) / You can pretend that you're Hannibal, Murdoch or Face! Or even B.A. Baracus (you know each one is an ace)!'
I watched the show faithfully, and after 40 years I have one lingering question: did anybody EVER pay them?
I remember these toys!! I had a good childhood. Kids don’t even play with toys or even go outside to play.
Yeah, it's almost like Kids are "Too old for toys" at 5 or 6 now and want Phones and Tablets
The cast made this show. No one had a more commanding presence than George Peppard as Hannibal Smith.
Yo sucka! BA had the tag lines 😂

I love it when an Analog Toys video comes together! Thanks for the video.
Was a perfect video.
Fascinating information on a line I had to tell myself not to pursue several years ago after getting the van.
I think the toy version of the van is one reason why I always remember it being black with a red stripe and not gray on top.
Yep. Me too 😂
@@gavinkaylhem8038 It was also pretty hard to see in the TV shows. Analog!
Now I want to collect these
Heading over to me Moms house to locate what i had from this line. Its all still there. Thanks T!! 😁👍
Fantastic video. Fond memories of my grandad buying me the large BA Baracus figure when he picked me up from school. X

You on the Jazz man!
Another great film Tony, your work gets better with every new publish.
Tony i thought the same thing about the van being all black, i didn't realize the top was grey until later on. Great history video!
This has brought the memories flooding back. Many thanks.
This video has again stirred the desire in me to get the van

The tactical van was genuinely one of my favourite toys in childhood. The Combat Headquarters, not so much! A very comprehensive and enjoyable video!
Back in the day, I got the A-Team 4 pack (since the 6 inch figures weren't exactly the most affordable) as well as Face's 'vette (the Galoob version), would've loved to have the van.
You know, with this toy line, you can have your very own Ultimate cross-over with the Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider toy lines😁 3:58
First could Face toy be based on the original actor who played him in the pilot. Also I have a vague memory of Wimpy (the burger chain in the UK) giving A-Team away for probably a promotion or something
Great video. Brought back memories of me and my grandad making abseiling rigs for these figures out of paperclips and reels of cotton. Fantastic!
I came looking for this video after my children found an M60 in my old Lego box. Great retrospective. For me the six inch figures, with their more accurate look, were way more appealing. I had those and also the large Mr. T doll/figure. But what a crazy phenomena A-Team was. Weird 80s zeitgeist stuff for sure. But fun to revisit...thanks!
Another great video Tony! Kudos!
Had those, loooong ago. Very cool.
That was great tony. Let's see more
I had that metal helicopter and used it for Joes after my aunt's dog ate my entire A-Team. That thing was tough!
Never got these as a kid, I now have the Playmobile A Team van - just need them to produce Face's Corvette
I remember these figures, even I never had any.
Great line and tv series....and excellent video
I got the van and the hq pack for crimbo 85’. Thanks for the memberberries.
Excellent retrospective!
Another fantastic vid. Great job, Tony.
Love it i have he-man toys
Neat video Tony! I had the figures as a kid but never the van sadly. But that sure is cool looking...
I also had a bunch of the galoob demon ranger/American defense figures too.
Well done
My Murdock and Face figures shoulder joints rusted and broke in short order. I also had numerous issues with the 6" figures. The 3 3/4 scale were usually allies/enemies of my Joe's. The Armored attack vehicle saw a lot of use as a H.I.S.S. stand in.
Mint video Tony...makes me regret giving all these away to little cousins...like my GI Joe collection
Great video tony I was tempted to buy a team vehicles the only thing I brought was a a team 4 pack for the accessories a a team jet would have cost the same price as a hyena at the time judging by how fragile that jet is I made the right choice
The long awaited video is here and I can't wait 👍🤘
Another fascinating and entertaining vintage toy review from Tony, this time examining the classic Galoob A-Team action figures and their vehicles.
But after watching this excellent video, it begs the question:
Why hasn't a modern toy company taken up the challenge to produce a new, more accurate A-Team toyline?
Great video. I like watching stuff like this even though is not what I coolect.
I remember playing with that yellow inflatable raft as well as all the other stuff from the command four pack but never knew where they came from
