      For sure! I stumbled upon this in 2008 when I couldn't sweep a big guy with the regular way. Works like a charm. Thanks for checking this out! I've always loved your teaching and techniques. I always use your knee bar from half guard wrist control set up. 👍

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  9 лет назад +9

      I assure you if you train the technique enough you can pull it off on bigger people. Every technique becomes harder when weight and strength come into play, but if you are proficient it can work. Thanks for watching... Keep training and persevere!

      Is this effective for sweeping larger opponents?

    Been teaching this basic sweep for 10 years. Great. Great upgrade with the hand in elbow modification. It stops the roll through exactly the way you demonstrate and describe it. Thank you for sharing. Great Video and really clear explanations in your descriptions. I really appreciated the camera angles. It allowed me to see everything you were doing clearly and in detail.

      @@haris20071983 I unknowingly was doing this for better control but the transition to the armbar was new to me
      Also just having the explanation to why it works so much better in video format makes it easier to show friends on the mat

    This is an awesome technique for wrestlers that get caught with a double leg takedown for folk-style wrestling. I love how you counter that spin through with that rear naked choke grip. I literally love the way that you narrate the videos. I'm going to use your narration technique for my wrestler's videos. Again, awesome awesome awesome.

    Just wanted to say, I used this move a few days ago against a very solid opponent and pinned him with this. He double legged, I got the 200%, and put him in a crucifix position for the pin. Thank you so much man. Great new tool for me to use!

    Ive never had anyone get out of the 100% before, but I decided to switch to the 200% after watching this anyway. Man the 200% feels so much tighter, and more "in control" than the 100%. Thanks so much for putting this out there. It has really helped me.

    Starts off a little like a half alch/cowcatcher, but with the underhook on the opposite side, and then continues with more BJJ variation. Nice.

    Hi Brian. Used this yesterday at the dojo and was showing some of the guys today. Actually was doing it a little wrong but it worked. The incorrect way I was doing, not having my head on the opposite side of his head, was still giving guys problems and they were talking about tremendous shoulder pressure as I forced them over. Thanks Brian.

    Looks like you could likely pull off a Crucifix during the 200%. Just a little leg position adjustments.

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  6 лет назад +1

      Looks like it but not really realistic once he has spun through. It is a good option if you catch his arm between the bodies such as in full guard. You can use your legs to trap it while he is half way over to his back for the sweep. Once he spins, going to the back is much more probable. 👍

  • @Dylan-wx7ru

    I've used this grip on every 100% I've ever done, even though none of my fellow white belts knew the counter to the normal 100% grip. The 200% is a bit overkill in that case, but it's a good habit to build!

      Question: If your opponent puts his head way back after you have your hooks in (as at exactly 8:47), is there anything wrong with just wrapping your right arm under his chin for a reverse guillotine?

    People have been trying this move on me off of the double leg, I'll have to try this spin to the D'Arce counter. Not very technical but I've just been tripoding and staying on the legs, then walking up to get side control or back to kill the legs, most people just let the 100% go, haha.

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  8 лет назад +1

      Good luck! The Darce counter is solid... Even if you can't finish the position with the Darce, the escape usually works fine.

    Great “old” video. I’ve been thinking about this video for two days now. The only question I have at this point is, would it matter what side you start the 200% on? I don’t see that it would if it’s applied as instructed, but a beginner never knows…that’s why I ask.

      Geo's series to the truck is fine as long as you capture the half guard or mount. If not you must use 200% or the opponent will spin through.

      It's all good. It doesn't matter if they base. There is too much pressure to stop it unless your opponent is much bigger than you.
