Aqua Narrowboats Virtual Autumn Open Day 2020

- Originally broadcast as a Facebook Live Tour of factory where we build bespoke narrowboats and canal boats for UK canal and river network. We only ever build boats to order, therefore all boats already have owners who have specified the layout and materials etc. We don't provide costings for individual boats, but we are happy to provide quotations to potential customers.
Please be aware that at the time of the recording viewers were asking questions via Facebook feeds not seen on this video, therefore at times during the video I stop to answer questions being asked. However If would like to ask a question please just leave a comment, as we check our channel regularly and therefore will do our best to answer queries you have.
We're not professional video makers and the video was downloaded and then uploaded to our RUclips channel, therefore the quality of the video is reduced i'm afraid. Hope you enjoy the tour. Thanks Aqua Narrowboats. Авто/Мото
Finally a build walk through from a manufacturer, well done . Ohh and I’m from Australia 🤫
Thanks Michael, great to hear we got to Australia!

Tuning in from Vancouver BC Canada.
Hello Vancouver!
@@AquaNarrowboats, most interesting to watch! Little known fact: The Royal Engineers planned a canal system around Vancouver, but almost none of it was built. There is one bit in existence though--about 1/2 mile long, and complete with a winding hole! Sadly, no canal boats out here (narrowboats on the Fraser would be a death wish!), but I watch with great interest nonetheless. When I next visit the UK, I will be sure to look you up, as one of the narrowboat vloggers recommended you.
Cheers!
Peter Finch How interesting Peter I served in the "Royal Engineers" and love to hear these stories of little known facts, what a shame it wasn't finished, it would be great to have narrowboats in Canada, do you know what date it was built.
@@michaelkeady1036 the Rpyal Engineers were in BC in the 1850s. They planned out the road grid, and had big plans for defensive works including canals. Though it was first planned as a waterway, the railway access to downtown Vancouver was finally completed in 1913 as a railway line, appropriately known as "the Grandview Cut."
Spanish! I will get you one!!! I promise!
Hi from Las Vegas.NV. U.S.
👋
G’day Justin, sorry we missed your live vlog but we have just watched it. Better late than never. Having cruising withdrawal symptoms as we don’t know when we will be allowed to travel overseas as we’re still not allowed to travel from Western Australia. Trust that you are all well. Love the boats. Kind regards Ian n Debbie
Glad you managed to catch up Ian and Debbie. All well here thanks - we're doing our best to keep the team safe. Hope you both are keeping safe and well too. Hopefully sometime in Spring we'll have some better idea when you can come across and see us again (fingers crossed!). Take care Justin & Jane
hi from Galway
Fantastic boats
Aloha
Love the shell detailing on perfect timing do you make the shells yourself or are these by others
We mainly use Colecraft Shell, but have used Tyler Wilson as well as Norton Canes.
So few narrowboats with properly sized beds - I want a 7 foot plus length bed, which means definitely not crosswise. But I don’t think I’ll ever get that without building it for myself or having someone do it.
Greetings from the Netherlands!
Hi Jasper the last boat we built had a 2mtr long bed as the owner was 6ft 4". We build the beds to the customers needs and the mattresses are ordered to fit.
@@AquaNarrowboats I am one hundred percent confident you could build me a proper sized bed if I ordered one from you!
It’s just that my budget range is probably not going to stretch to a new build, if I ever get to buying at all, and the second hand market is... less customizable, let’s put it that way. I suspect my best option in that area would be a boat where the bed*room* is at least large enough, because those exist (although still rare) and then just modifying it a little.
What was previously used as insulation? Are there lots of boats still in use without proper floor or wall insulation? Enjoying narrow boating in all forms from 7000’ here in Wyoming.
Hi J Holmes - older narrowboats tended to have polystyrene sheets, but as the inside steel work is often covered with angle iron and difficult to reach areas you often got condensation problems. It was also a poor insulator compared to other modern methods. Best regards Justin Aqua Narrowboats.
John from Liphook, Hampshire
Nice tour, though the desperation for a cup of tea seemed a bit strong.
Only encountered this today. We are in Malaysia, so not quite as far as Australia but nearer the equator, so totally tropical.
You really should include your website address and email.
A need for a cup of tea can never be too strong - you can always substitute with Iced Tea in your case. ;o)
@@AquaNarrowboats Just rewatched this video and noted the bit where you say you have hire boats. We would be interested in hiring one for a week of so later this year presuming we manage to get over to UK. We want to try one to check that we are looking at the right idea - a retirement live aboard. Do you have a website for the boat hire side of the business?

Another australian
We get a number of customers coming over from Australian to rent our hire boats, lots of Australians love the UK waterways.
Very disorganised, why does this man talk all over Jayne ? Can't watch this !!!
Have you thought about being a motivational speaker Mike?! 8o) .
Nope we're not professional at making RUclips videos whatsoever, we just don't have time too whilst running a successful business, but we are learning bit by bit. We started doing it just to provide some interest to our followers on RUclips and Facebook whilst in lockdown.
We've been married for 24 years, and yes I sometimes talk over Jane, although I try not too - but then again none of us are perfect, and rest assured Jane can hold her own.
Some people just like to spend time being negative.
