- It's been almost a year in the making and finally our brand new Narrowboat Morning Star is ready for launch. Will everything go to plan? Our new Narrowboat is a 60' brum' base boat with the latest technology including lithium, almost 2kw of solar, hybrid electric propulsion and is gas free. We launch the new boat from North Kilworth Marina and test out the technology onboard as we cruise down to Crick Marina for the Crick Boat Show.
The team at Oakums Narrowboats have worked really hard and put in some late nights to finish the boat on time.This boat will be an entry into the favourite boat in show category at the Crick Boat Show and everything has to look great. We have designed and worked closely with the team at Oakums over the past year to come up with a beautiful boat that will make living aboard a real luxury. Narrowboat Morning Star will be our brand new narrowboat with Solar Panels, Lithium Batteries, Electric Propulsion and be gas free.
Paul & Anthony together with Dexter live full time, but manage to work part-time, on a Narrowboat, cruising the UK Canals and finding out what it's really like to be Living on a boat exploring the Nature and scenery on some of the best canals and rivers in the UK onboard an Oakums Narrowboat called Morning Star. Our brand brand new narrowboat launching in 2023from Oakums Narrowboats is embracing the latest technology including lithium, solar, and electric propulsion, the boat will be coal and gas free. We can't wait to share our new adventures with you.

All I kept doing was saying...Wow...wow...wow! Your new boat is spectacular! I love the color, I adore the interior design, the larger stern and of course, the clean and quiet engine! I bet Anthony loves not having to breathe in those diesel fumes when steering in the back. I was wondering, did they make Ant an elevated panel so he doesn't have to crane his neck so much anymore? 😁LOVE your boat and I am also delighted that my sweetie Dexter Dog is still with us to enjoy the new home! Now thats what I call a show stopper!!, such a bitter sweet ending I have loved this series. However where one chapter ends and bright new one begins and I'm so thrilled for all three of you. Can't wait to pop a long and see you at the show tomorrow.

Gosh how emotional was that. I've seen a lot of boats launched over the years, but usually done via a crane, so how cool was that contraption that was used. No chance of being blown about in the wind like the last one I saw launched. Loving the black windows and frames, they really make the boat colour pop. Quite a few times I had to keep checking my volume button was on because it was silent. That must be fantastic with no chugging now and being able to hear yourself think. Oakums are really on the map now, and they so deserve it. What a phenominal job they have done. Liam and the guys might well have that constant grin on their faces. Although I admit when the boat was in the cradle over the water I heard myself saying ' be careful, dont get it wet' 😂. Have so much fun on new Morning Star. She really is beautiful and have a super weekend at crick, and look forward to seeing all the forthcoming videos. Love and best wishes to the 3 of you. Beth xxx

My goodness, what an amazing boat. No sound but the birds and Dexter tap dancing! Oh, guys, she's beautiful! That green just glows in the sunlight and then it's contrasted with the lovely light grey in the bow and stern, but what really makes it pop is that gorgeous oak of the skylights and open duck door. It's just stunning! I also love the little dandelions on the bow, and your slogan across the back turned out just brilliantly. It surely is the Way! Sorry you had to miss the launch of your stealth 💚boat but at least you have lots of videos and photos to commemorate the day and memories of the launch day of the first Morning Star. I can't believe how quiet the boat is. I loved a glimpse of the interior and I'm looking forward to seeing a full tour. "This Is The Way" does look great on the back and I love the dandelion puffs on the bow. BTW, I have Disney but haven't watched The Mandalorian. Congratulations on finally getting your new boat! It seems you made the right decisions on new features based on your previous experiences. I love the interior for being both light and cozy. The outside color wouldn´t be exactly my choice, but that´s totally a matter of taste. It´s for sure unique and has lots of personality. when you pulled in to your spot at crick - i loved that you ended up next to Reginald (the Braidbar boat); i love braidbar boats. If i had the cash id be really torn between an oakums boat and a braidbar - such lovely craft in both. congrats on the new boat it looks amazing , what a craft - i am beyond envious.
At least Reginald looks like a proper narrow boat, & not a single piece of MDF in sight. A solid built boat & the one from Norton Canes.
I know. I think they had the same spot last year. Agree; both boats are lovely. For us, Reginald wouldn’t have worked as a live aboard boat. Can’t wait to start cruising. Have a great week ❤

Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. So Beautiful!!!! Your new home is Fantastic. It's been a privileged to be able to virtually come along with you on your journey watching the boat getting built Thank you for that. On the build side of things, so many talented experts have made the boat look amazing. Loved Launch day. I liked the way 2 of the Oakums crew jumped on board as soon as she was in the water to make sure all was OK. Cruising the canal on the way to Crick in almost silence was just amazing. Paul you did well when arriving at Crick reversing into position to moor up. Loving the mooring positions on the stern of the boat on both the port and starboard side. It was so cute hearing Dexter-Dog feet pattering on the floor as he explored his new home. What a shame Anthony had to work on launch day. I bet he (Anthony) can't wait to drive it for the first time. What an amazing technological boat. With the train strike this weekend, I had been seriously thinking of traveling up to Crick, but unfortunately that won't happen now. Wishing you a great Crick Festival. Congratulations on the launch and the beginning of new adventures. You are taking exceptional care of Dexter for him to be in such good shape at 15 1/2. You must be treasuring the time you have with him. BTW I know I was one of the few, if not the only commentator who wasn’t thrilled with color, but seeing it in the water, its growing on me!!
