Great commentary. Shop rag which is actually one of my wife's towels LOL. I'm painting our mantle white in about 2 weeks so this tutorial is very helpful.

Looks beautiful. Enjoyed your commentary. I've got to repaint the wood around my fireplace where there's a vent-free gas log set that puts out a lot of heat (when I close the flue completely). I'm in the midst of researching what kind of white paint could take a good deal of heat and not yellow or otherwise be damaged by it. Did you find out anything on this subject? I know the bricks in a fireplace can store a lot of heat and get quite hot as well. Have you gone through a heating season with this where you had some big fires going?

I had some on there but it was black and blended with the dark wall
should have sanded the wood mantle,,,and two coats of primer on the brick..
