A few weeks ago I shared with you the living room update that included the board and batten wall and DIY Faux accent beams. Since then I was thinking of ideas to update the fireplace to give it a cozy colonial cottage-style look.
I can't wait for you to see how we did it and the before and after! This project cost us around $50 and added a ton of charm and character to the fireplace and gave the living room such a cozy feel! It's exactly what this space needed and I can't wait to take you along as we makeover the fireplace!

I looooove the after!!! When you did the before clip you couldn’t tell you had a brick fireplace unless you were close to it! But now it looks amazing!!!! It was before but now it took it to another level!

Hi Jen, we have brick on a living room, it's actually paneling. Two years I got tired with the color( it was sort of the red brick and black grout. So I had my husband help move the wall unit away from the wall. Bought so white paint and German Schmere was born. And we love it. My husband always looks at me and says" What are you thinking now". But he always loves the end results. Great Jon Jen. Love the new wall.

@@MotherThyme ~ true! It's AMAZING how you transformed that whole room without spending much money 🤑. It looks soooo different from how your living room used to look! The exposed brick (plus of course the board and batten, and sconces), have warmed up that whole, big room! The brick REALLY warms it up ~ it couldn't be more perfect!!!!

Gorgeous!!! I am going to do something similar to our kitchen backsplash. I'm using faux brick panel, cut staggered for realism, schmeared with wall putty. I cannot wait to get it done. I think it will add so much character, like it does your living room. ❤

I love the way the brick turned out. Lots of hard work but I can see it was worth it. My husband and I flipped a house and the fireplace was very similar with red brick. I painted the brick. It also had the doors like your fireplace. I got some flat black heat resistant spray paint and painted the doors. It looked so much better.
