    Hi Deiter,
    Our units detect the incoming chords and create harmony from a combination of that and your lead vocal note, so there's no need to adjust anything when playing a 1/2 step down. The unit will simply "hear" an Eb instead of an E, for example. Everything will work just the same as it would with standard tuning.

    Hi John, the guitar signal passes through the Harmony Singer on the way to the amp. We look at the incoming dry/clean chord information to work out the harmonies and the signal moves right along to your guitar pedals/amp.

    Can I use the harmony singer 2 to double track my voice, I know it can do harmonies obviously but is the option available to just double track?

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад

    Hi Hallam,
    You could run the audio from your keyboard through the Harmony Singer as long as it's got good chordal information in it.
    If your keyboard has the ability to send 1/2 of the keyboard out one output (I'm thinking left hand for chords) then that would be ideal.

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад

    Hi Nicky,
    Yep. The caveat is that the mix of the particular track will determine how well the chord tracking works. The better the unit can "hear" clear chords (root+3rd+5th etc.) the better it will work.

    Great presentation Tom. I have a question though. I love the products, I have both the mic mechanic 2 and the vocal harmony 2. My question is can they be used in tandem? Would I just jump from mic out to mic in from unit to unit? I know VH2 uses guitar to control harmony and the Mic mechanic doesn’t. So if you could suggest how I might use both pedals in a chain? Thanks so much! Tony T.

    Help ! ... I turned on my T/C Helicon Harmony Singer (Blue Box) and the vocal part doesn't work anymore. The guitar plays through it fine but dead silence on the vocal. The only thing I know wrong is the little mike button on the right is gone, but it fell apart months ago and I'm pretty sure it has worked ok without it (I could be wrong). Inside the T/C where the 'button housing' box is/was, there are only the 6 terminals sticking up. So I have a couple questions; (1) Do I need the mike button for the TC Harmony Singer to work? ... and if so, ... (2) can I jumper across a couple of the 6 terminals to permanently lock it in the 'non-mike' mode ? (I don't even have the controlable mike) ... and if so, ... (3) which terminals do I jumper? Many thanks in advance

    Hi David,
    I'd think of the H. Singer as an even smaller and simpler G-XT. The sounds are both of the same quality, but there's presets and some other options in the G-XT that the harmony singer doesn't have. It's more intended to chuck down on the floor and get a great harmony whenever you want it, with minimal setup.

    I have used a Harmony Singer for sometime now with great success. However as of late I get a lot of static. I have traced the problem to the Harmonizer. I used the ground lift but to no avail. Can the instrument in and out connections be cleaned with DeoxIT ? DeoxIT improves electronic connections. I have used DeoxIT on my mixer when it made static and the problem cleared up. Please contact me asap as I have lots of gigs lined up.

    HI Randy,
    The Harmony Singer doesn't create any guitar audio or processing, so you can't get audio out the Mic out.

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад

    Heya Michael,
    You could do either. It's up to you to tune the guitar itself, so the placement of the tuner only matters if the pedal before it would somehow affect the sound. Harmony Singer doesn't change the guitar sound, so the tuner will "hear" it the same in either setup.

    Hi Dexter,
    All of our pedals in this form factor offer +24V phantom power. The Rode may require +48. If that's the case, then you'd need an external +48 phantom supply.

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад +1

    Hi Dexter,
    You can definitely use a wireless mic. Typically, the mic receiver will have an xlr output, which you could run into the Harmony Singer's XLR input. Just watch the gain staging. You'll need to make sure that the signal coming from your receiver doesn't overload the H. Singer's input. You want to see green/yellow LED almost all the time when you sing, but never red.

  • @tchelicon

    When you play a minor chord, the unit analyzes both the chord and the note you're singing to determine the appropriate harmony. That's not to say it works in every sing song every written, but it's pretty great at doing its thing.

    Great pedal. I was wondering is it useful when you hook it up with the bass guitar since the bass guitar does not play chords as electric guitar? Because, If you play Am and you want to hear third-up - and you play bass only with the tone A - how can pedal recognize is it sharp or not? thanks

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  5 лет назад

      Hey Eno! The bass won't work to trigger harmonies for the exact reason you just provided! Without a third tone, the pedal won't know to go sharp or natural, etc. For this reason we recommend using Harmony singer with a guitar instead :) Thanks for singing with us!

    Hi, i am considering between this one and TC Helicon Voice Tone Harmony-G XT. Can you give me some advices? Which should I use? Which is better?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  8 лет назад +1

      Harmony G-XT has a few more options than Harmony Singer, like the ability to have presets (up to 10) and some extra effects like doubling. Harmony singer is smaller and more straightforward. I think if I were to have a standalone device I'd go for the Harmony G-XT (or perhaps a Play Acoustic or Play Electric for more effects options) and if I was trying to fit a harmony processor into my guitar effects setup (pedalboard etc.) then I'd probably opt for the Harmony Singer, since it can squeeze into smaller spaces.

    what i've noticed here is when you put the reverb to hall reverb the sounds of the guitar also plays hall reverb right?
    so how can you use this harmony singer only for vocals without affecting the guitar. So if i like to use my other distortion pedal how would that be??

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  10 лет назад +1

      Hi J Allan, the guitar path is simply a thru. There's no electrical connection between the guitar and the vocal effects. The guitar sounds comes from the guitar, through the H.S. and then on to whatever guitar rig you have, including distortions or whatever. That's what Tom's doing. It comes out of the H.S.s and into a few TC-E pedals before hitting the amp you see miked int he background.

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад

    Hi Jose,
    No, you need 12V to power the preamp and other electronics in the pedal. That's also why we don't offer battery power...yet.

    • @tchelicon

      The best signal path is to go directly from your guitar into the Harmony Singer, then out to whichever amp/pedals you have for your guitar setup.

    I just received the unit yesterday and keep in mind, I have an original Harmony G as well. The Harmony Singer was not tracking properly with a drop D tuning song last night and playing a full chord and 3rd below. I am going to sample again tonight and compare against the Harmony G. Also, I find that I have far less headroom with the tone engaged before I get feedback that has to be eq'd out which is counterproductive. Advice?

    I fingerpick a lot - will this pedal be able to determine the proper harmony for the songs that involve only finger-picked chord progressions? Thanks!

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  8 лет назад

      +Benji Swafford It's definitely more susceptible to errors when you're finger picking. Essentially it needs to hear root third and fifth type stuff fairly close together to make a good guess at the underlying chord. Might be worth grabbing one from a place you can easily return it and give it a go yourself, since it's such an individual experience to see if it works as you hope it might.

      Step 1: Connect the guitar output to the "INST IN" input of the TC-Helicon Harmony 2.
      Step 2: connect the TC-Helicon Harmony 2 "INST THRU" output to the input of the first guitar effect pedal (if you don't have a guitar effect pedal, connect it to the input of the guitar amplifier). The INST THRU is a buffered bypass and doesn't affect the guitar signal in any way.

    Thanx Tom.Great pedal, great demo (and great singer by the way !). I bought a HS and I'll receive it in the next few days.One question about the outputs : you say the output XLR is to be connected to a PA.But i want to make the HS sound thru my guitar amp,with my guitar .I've a amp & effects modeller connected to my amp (Line6 Pod hd Pro) for the guitar.There's an mic XLR input on the Pod. Can I plug the HS into it ? I ask this because I've read the output on the HS is a " XLR line output" and i wondered what the word "line" was meaning ( something to do with "line level" ?)I suppose I can but i'd like to have your advice.Thanx for your answer.Greatings from Paris.

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  8 лет назад

      +Selkirk Rex Yep, you can connect the HS to the mic input on the POD. Your vocals won't sound super great through a non-FRFR guitar amp, since it'll have a fairly non-vocal friendly EQ, but it's certainly possible with the connections you have.

    Tom, on the Harmony singer do I have to plug in a guitar? I'm looking for a Harmonizer that I can use strictly for Vocals I don't want to have to plug in a guitar, I play bass, I just want to go straight from my PA to the Harmony Singer and then to my mic Is that possible with the Harmony Singer or do I need to look for something different...thanks

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад

      Yes, the harmony key/scale is driven from the guitar signal that's coming in. If you want to set key/scale manually (naturalplay won't work with bass) you might look to something like an H1 or VoiceLive Play.
      Another option is to run the guitar from another player in your band in/thru the Harmony singer as the first thing in their signal chain. That will give you the chord info you need too.

    1) Does the Harmony Singer queue off the actual guitar notes in the 3rd and 5th positions, or does it queue off the chord FORM?
    2) I know it can read the difference between a third and a minor third, but can it read the difference in a 5th and a diminished 5th, or an augmented 5th ?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  9 лет назад +1

      AngelAndTheWolf Heya!
      1. It looks at the root+3rd+5th and then any other notes it can to determine the chord. Using alternate chord forms does affect what the system does with the harmonies. Sometimes, using an inversion will get you the harmony output you want if the other version of the chord isn't working for you.
      2. It can tell the difference between the chords and the out put will vary based on the lead note you're singing and the chord it sees, plus the voice output you've selected. That said, in something like Harmony Singer, you're limited to the guitar detection, whereas in something like VoiceLive 3 you can do custom scale maps for the times when guitar detection isn't giving you the output you want.

    Just got the Harmony Singer 2. When I tried it onstage, I couldn’t get any volume on my guitar, even though it was full volume. If I turned up the volume on my mixer, my mic was way too loud… Any suggestions?

      On the XLR output of the TC-Helicon Harmony Singer, the sound of a guitar plugged into INST IN never appears.

    great review. can i use this with Boss RC 300 Loop Station? and use this pedal to loop harmonies?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад

      Sure, you'd want to run the Harmony Singer first in the signal chain and then into the RC-300.

    do I have to plug into the guitar out . I'm not playing thru amp.
    will my guitar still com thru pa?.Or do I run the guitar out back to the mixer?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад

      Yes you have to run out the guitar output. Harmony Singer does not apply any tone or FX to the guitar signal itself, nor does it out your guitar signal via the XLR output. If you don't come out the output and run to the PA, your guitar will not be heard. :)

    OK, let me try this:
    1) If I play a "C", "E", and "G" chord, and sing a "D", will the vocal output be my "D", plus an "E" and" G" harmony, or will it be my "D", plus an "Gb", and an "A"?
    2) Is it possible to choose ONE major chord, and ONE minor chord, and use those two for any molody harmonies, or does the pedal need the appropriately pitched major chord?
    3) I have an autoharp I'm considering turning into a single key six chord form
    (Major, Minor, Sus 2, Sus 4, Augmented, Diminished) non-through controller for
    A Cappella harmonies. Does the pedal consider actual pitches, or just intervals?

      AngelAndTheWolf Here's a link to our scale chart. It might give you some insight into how the output decisions are made.

      TC-Helicon OK, I think the answer is "I need to play the triads in the proper key to get the proper response. The unit looks at more than just the intervals." Thanks, Tom

    For a keyboard with MIDI out, you should get the Harmony M for superior MIDI chord tracking, stereo output, more control of harmony and effect settings, and 10 programmable presets. It's not quite as small as this pedal but still quite compact. I use 2 Harmony M units on gids, so the other singer in my band can provide 3 part harmony behind me based on my keyboard playing. Love my TC-Helicon!

    Hi guys, does this effects require to have an instrument plugged in to it? hope you guys could reply. im thinking if i could use this w/ my band. im on lead vocals none of my bandmates seem to like doing the 2nd voice/harmony thing so im thinking of options how to get that harmony i've been looking for w/ an old band i play with..

    Hi can You kindly clarify details with ground lift pls?
    i connected Helicon with mixer yamaha harmonies are ok but...It gives some humming sound is not clear (power noise ) i reduced gain as much as possible...but..hum is still there

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  9 лет назад

      Nikolo Papini You'll want to set the gain as high as possible without clipping. Check this video for instructions: ruclips.net/video/qq0AOtafIjsG/видео.htmlround hum can be helped by connecting all of your components to the same electrical outlet or power strip etc.

    what mics can I use to switch the TC Helicon Harmony Singer?? Ty

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  10 лет назад

      Mic Control is available via the TC-H MP-75 or the Sennheiser e835 FX mics.

  • @tchelicon
    @tchelicon  11 лет назад

    Yep sure can. There's a Mic Control button on the side, just like the Mic Mechanic you have. It'll work with an MP-75 or Sennheiser e 835 fx.

    I am looking for a vocal harmonizer which is the size of the harmonizer (easy to carry and just stomp on when i need a harmony). I am assuming this unit can't generate an intelligent harmony based on my vocal, unless ive got a guitar plugged in. Can i plug this into my guitar players guitar unit and have the other end connected to my mic for the unit to generate harmony ? In case i decide not to connect it to a guitar unit at all, then can it generate an intelligent harmony purely based on my voice ?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  8 лет назад

      +Nik Uzi You're right that we need some sort of chord information for the harmonies to work. You can totally plug this into your guitar player's rig. What you'd want to do is have your guitar player go into and thru this unit FIRST and then on to their rig. The Harmony Singer then captures dry guitar chords to set key/scale for the harmony. The reason you put it first in the chain for your guitarist is because you want the cleanest chords for the unit to hear. The in/thru is just a buffered bypass, so it won't affect the tone going into the guitar effects/amp.

      +TC-Helicon Thanks a lot TC. I wish to purchase this unit in the UAE and try it out but your dealers here don't seem to have a unit to try out.

    Hi. Can I chain this to the Mic Mechanic 2 ? Because I want the pitch correction of the Mic Mechanic.

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +1

      We don't typically recommend chaining those products together since they both contain effects in a specific internal order that don't really work out when used in series. I'd suggest something like a C1 VoiceTone Single in front of the HS to get correction on the way in.

    Maybe this has been answered and I missed.... I play a lot with guitars all half step down. I currently have the original harmony g and I have to power it down and tune it to the guitar. How did his unit compare in that regard?

    I'm planning to connect this to my lil looper. Will my looper be able to loop my voice too, considering that the XLR input and output are both on the HS unit. Thanks!

      Farhan Kamsani If the looper has an XLR input, then sure.

    • @FarhanMusicKamsani
      @FarhanMusicKamsani 9 лет назад

      TC-Helicon thank you for the reply. Another query, my lil looper (which I'm connecting this Harmony Singer to) has a headphone input. So I would only need to plug in my mic to the XLR input, without have and XLR output, and still be able to hear the harmonies through the headphone right?

    Can anyone PLEASE tell me if you can adjust the original voice signal and the backing vocals levels separately? Thank you so much!

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад

      Hi Guilhermebgirardi! You can adjust the volume level of the harmonies to your lead vocal right on the pedal, and you'd adjust your lead volume from the mixing console.

      I've got the Harmony Singer 2 but after a few days using it starts suddenly to blink an inttermitent red light making the pedal RANDOMLY ACTIVATE AND DEACTIVATE THE HARMONIES (more specifically: when I sing SLIGHTLY louder then just talking into to microphone)! Plus the foot switch DO NOT MAKE THE BLINKING LIGHT TO STOP. What am I supposed to do? The product is NEW!!!!!!, and I think it may have started after I just TESTED the Momentary Mode. - And I only have the pedal for HALF A WEEK!!!!! I don't even believe that's the need of an updated firmware. I WANT A REPLY!!!! This is UNUSABLE!!!! @tc helicon

      EDIT: It turned out that the apparent malfuncion would actually be (hopefully) a hidden function, by which you would turn an automatic, sensitive sensor, that would make louder singing parts be interpreted as choruses and have the selected harmonies automatically enabled until you lower your voice, and it would be activated/deactivated by pressing the footswitch while turning on the pedal. I guess I owe you an apology for being dumb? GREAT device, although not at it best, because it still oscillates between major and minor harmonies, even with clear guitar playing, and that should be looked for if you want the harmony crown. Also, you should seriously think about building a 2-in-1 unit, with 2 joint pedals to enable up to 4 harmonies at the same time. Plus, in this hypotetical device, you would clearly need to have knobs to control the individual harmonies volume. I'm just saying all this because I really liked your pedal. Cheers!
