ive always preferred white tools, decor, and accessories as i feel like they make a room brighter and i can easily add warmth by throwing in red, oranges, and yellows in other areas of the room. i thought i was a bit crazy for wanting to paint them until i came across your videos. now i know it can be done (though i plan to hide as many black accents as i can as it ruins the whole "brighter" vibe im going for") so thanks for that!

Protip: To help reduce wear, chipping and flaking on your finished stuff, use a moly-resin gun paint like Cerakote or Dutacoat. For stuff that you can't cure with heat, use Duracoat and let it air cure; for stuff that can withstand oven temperatures (metal parts, high-temperature plastics, etc), use Cerakote (it's much more hardy). Both of these finishes, when applied properly, won't want to chip, crack or flake like normal spray finished do, though they will eventually yield very smooth wear patterns in spots that wear (though it takes a long while to wear through either finish with just friction wearing).

Love the video! Tips when painting with aerosol's, try to cover the entire item in each layer completely first before moving to the next coat. I noticed you sprayed the measuring tape with the clear coat before moving to the back side with primer. Most likely there are clear coat particles floating around and reaching the surface before you sprayed the primer on the back and this will keep the primer from sticking and cause paint peeling. Also, any primer added once flipped over will be on top of the clear coat on the edged of the tape measure and flake off like onion layers, eventually peeling the entire piece.
    Reccommended
1.) coat entire item with primer, front and back (multiple coats)
2.) Spray with paint color, front and back (multiple coats)
3.) Use a small brush or q-tip to get into small cracks or places that the spray wont get to
4.) Spray entire item with clear coat once front and back are completely covered with white paint.
If you follow these steps, you wont get the onion like layers that eventually peel and each layer will lock itself in with the top clear coat locking everything down.
    -Cheers!

in terms of paint, I would do enamel paints. They are VERY durable and if you do it right they will not streak and should come out pretty uniform. Downside to it, as far as I know there are only gloss enamels and no mattes but that's okay sorta because scratches on matte or satin are very noticeable. But maybe I'm wrong/unaware of some other product. I like to color my tools with exception to their working area (i.e. tips of screw bits) or places that require a certain fit (i.e. the mounting square on a socket wrench). Cheers

your videos have been coming up a lot in my algorithm, but this is the first one i've ever watched. mostly because i thought the all-white look was just you being pretentious, based on your thumbnails. i've now learned it's so much deep than that; that your values around simplicity and shitty corporate art design align pretty closely with mine. great content, thanks!

Did you do some kind of videography/photography before you started this channel?
You're editing and composition is actually phenomenal. Always able keep me engaged throughout the entire thing, just the right amount of info on one thing before moving on.

Scott mentioned during a podcast that he edited music videos for his friends before starting his own channel.

Just came across your channel. It is cool and refreshing to see things with production value put into them. Lots of channels just have someone sitting behind a desk waffling for 10 minutes these days, so I was happy to find videos with an emphasis on quality control. Subbed.

I like how intentional you are with customizing your tools.

    The customization parts I feel very deeply, coming from a car community and as a Linux user that spends (probably too much) time customizing my OS to my likings. It's a way to express myself, and to feel right at home whenever I use that tool. For example;
I love driving my car, going for joyrides or just cruising around. Most of the time, I sit inside it, so I've customized the interior so I'd like it and feel nice whenever I sit inside. Little details like stuff hanging from the mirror, stickers, accent painting different plastics or even the scent. Same goes for outside - It's my daily car, so no stanced out bollocks, nice ride height so I don't bottom out on speed bumps but also don't look like a monster truck, few stickers here and there to let similarly minded people know that I like this hobby, but nothing extra bold.
Same goes for my PCs - I use Linux mostly with Plasma desktop environment, that I have customised to my likings. Clean design, just having the information and/or tools I need at sight, plethora of custom shortcuts to accomodate for my work, custom aliased commands, status messages, etc. I love organising digital media, so whatever is possible to color code, it is (whilst cohering to one color pallette of course, in my case it's Catppuccin Macchiato), and using multitude of software to organise stuff like video, photos, variety of projects (code, cad, art, whatever else I feel like doing at the time) and music.
That being said, loved this video, the editing was super dope and presentation was on point :)

I can't believe I enjoyed the ad part of you video just as much as the actual content. I feel like the companies you choose as sponsors always make sense for your channel so it doesn't feel abrasive or repellant. Is that good? Haha. Love your content. Can't wait for the next one.

i'd suggest using a UV pen for the birth dates, I like the look of the image transferring technique with the black text on white but for the others they look a little silly.
