There’s also the fact that it builds your own branding, now every time I see a thumbnail with all white everything 9/10 its one of your videos. Now everything in my office / gaming area is black and white because the colors just flow so comfortably for myself. Started at all white, but I had to introduce a contrast. Awesome video man, keep up the awesome work!
Hey Scott! I have a tip for you when using paint. You can use a can of 2K Automotive Clear coat. It's stronger, doesn't peel as quick as regular clear coat, and it doesn't orange peel as much. The only downside to using it is when you activate the can's mixture, you have 24 - 48 hours to use it before it fully hardens. Thank you for making your content! I've already watched every previous video you released!
Finally! I've been waiting for this for almost 200 days - ever since I saw the upgrades for the white Ender 3. I fully support the described philosophy. Tools and things should work for the benefit of the owner, rather than promoting a brand or distracting attention.
Great video as always. But just a note, I think you should actually mask V-slots where wheels are moving when painting a 3D printer. It's like you would paint a linear rail or rod - not a good idea for motion systems.
You cannot paint precision surface (linear guides for rollers). It is literally impossible, paint will ruin tolerances and less durable than metal. Best way to do it on your Ender is to order custom white-anodized extrusions. Anodized surface is relatively precise and durable.
The human eye is very good at noticing shades of white. That's why everything I own is black. Seeing different off shades of white next to each other would drive me insane.

in terms of paint, I would do enamel paints. They are VERY durable and if you do it right they will not streak and should come out pretty uniform. Downside to it, as far as I know there are only gloss enamels and no mattes but that's okay sorta because scratches on matte or satin are very noticeable. But maybe I'm wrong/unaware of some other product. I sell paint for a living and I have to say that I’ve seen a lot of people do it incorrectly. For the products you are using I would say you do a great job. Only thing that makes yours a tiny bit less durable is the fact that it’s Matte finish instead of something like a satin or semi gloss. Just a helpful hint: if you are painting something. Hi, I found your video very interesting and appreciate you showing the techniques used to paint/cover your tools. I also use white as much as possible (never been a fan to be honest but now I am), primarily for productivity reasons. I work in engineering, and I found research that indicates that good lighting reduces errors and increases productivity. White paint, being a good reflector of light, is very present on my workbench. It would be great if you could make another video where you go into more detail about your powder coating process and other similar techniques.

That 3D printing shot at 3:37 is next level, wow. I'm trying to level up my own 3d printing shots and this is such a great inspiration. Does your extruder come back to one position at every layer and there's one picture per layer?
Not sure if it's what Scott uses, but OctoPrint is typically how I've seen this accomplished when other people achieve the same "growing" look with their prints
you can set a custom firmware (like octoprint or klipper) they come bundled with webcam plugins that trigger shots at the right time (once every layer) set that trigger to your proper camera, use a slider/gimbal, and you're golden.
For a moment I was dismissive about why someone would care so much about color to make everything white and then I remembered that I deliberately have everything I use in black, workspace and tools.
your videos have been coming up a lot in my algorithm, but this is the first one i've ever watched. mostly because i thought the all-white look was just you being pretentious, based on your thumbnails. i've now learned it's so much deep than that; that your values around simplicity and shitty corporate art design align pretty closely with mine. great content, thanks!
Did you do some kind of videography/photography before you started this channel? You're editing and composition is actually phenomenal. Always able keep me engaged throughout the entire thing, just the right amount of info on one thing before moving on.
Just came across your channel. It is cool and refreshing to see things with production value put into them. Lots of channels just have someone sitting behind a desk waffling for 10 minutes these days, so I was happy to find videos with an emphasis on quality control. Subbed.
The customization parts I feel very deeply, coming from a car community and as a Linux user that spends (probably too much) time customizing my OS to my likings. It's a way to express myself, and to feel right at home whenever I use that tool. For example; I love driving my car, going for joyrides or just cruising around. Most of the time, I sit inside it, so I've customized the interior so I'd like it and feel nice whenever I sit inside. Little details like stuff hanging from the mirror, stickers, accent painting different plastics or even the scent. Same goes for outside - It's my daily car, so no stanced out bollocks, nice ride height so I don't bottom out on speed bumps but also don't look like a monster truck, few stickers here and there to let similarly minded people know that I like this hobby, but nothing extra bold. Same goes for my PCs - I use Linux mostly with Plasma desktop environment, that I have customised to my likings. Clean design, just having the information and/or tools I need at sight, plethora of custom shortcuts to accomodate for my work, custom aliased commands, status messages, etc. I love organising digital media, so whatever is possible to color code, it is (whilst cohering to one color pallette of course, in my case it's Catppuccin Macchiato), and using multitude of software to organise stuff like video, photos, variety of projects (code, cad, art, whatever else I feel like doing at the time) and music. That being said, loved this video, the editing was super dope and presentation was on point :)
I can't believe I enjoyed the ad part of you video just as much as the actual content. I feel like the companies you choose as sponsors always make sense for your channel so it doesn't feel abrasive or repellant. Is that good? Haha. Love your content. Can't wait for the next one.

Crushing it dude. Man all the stuff you're putting out is just sick!
Another great video, thanks for shouting me out! Glad I could help provide some shots!
Now on to painting all my tools 😂
haha thanks for sharing the shots! loved how it turned out
That 3D printing shot at 3:37 is next level, wow.
Yes coupled with a motorized camera mount that pans the shot automatically over time.
you can set a custom firmware (like octoprint or klipper) they come bundled with webcam plugins that trigger shots at the right time (once every layer) set that trigger to your proper camera, use a slider/gimbal, and you're golden.
Yo man, I’m taking my hat off to u for incredible effects and overall filming quality. That’s insane, the “colored tools” effect blew me off)
For a moment I was dismissive about why someone would care so much about color to make everything white and then I remembered that I deliberately have everything I use in black, workspace and tools.
awesome. as a former art student and lover of entertainment design I feel like your bringing concept art to life
I love that you're actually getting sent white versions of products from vendors now!
meeee too 🥹 a dream come true
your videos have been coming up a lot in my algorithm, but this is the first one i've ever watched. mostly because i thought the all-white look was just you being pretentious, based on your thumbnails. i've now learned it's so much deep than that; that your values around simplicity and shitty corporate art design align pretty closely with mine. great content, thanks!
Did you do some kind of videography/photography before you started this channel?
You're editing and composition is actually phenomenal. Always able keep me engaged throughout the entire thing, just the right amount of info on one thing before moving on.
Scott mentioned during a podcast that he edited music videos for his friends before starting his own channel.
I love your focus on hyper functionality. You have made your own methods to be improve efficency. Really inspiring to Me :)
the cinematography is so beautiful!
it's like customizing your home screen, or decorating your room, it's about personality, aesthetic, convenience and feeling organize
Just came across your channel. It is cool and refreshing to see things with production value put into them. Lots of channels just have someone sitting behind a desk waffling for 10 minutes these days, so I was happy to find videos with an emphasis on quality control. Subbed.
as a product designer its so nice to see a make/product designer get some appreciation on youtube!
8:09 hahaha! Awesome video man. All of this. I’m going to whitewash my entire place and everything I own. I love it haha! New subscriber ✌🏻
I like how intentional you are with customizing your tools.
The customization parts I feel very deeply, coming from a car community and as a Linux user that spends (probably too much) time customizing my OS to my likings. It's a way to express myself, and to feel right at home whenever I use that tool. For example;
I love driving my car, going for joyrides or just cruising around.
Wtf, so well produced, i really do love these videos
That last line got an audible laugh out of me. Cheers!
I can't believe I enjoyed the ad part of you video just as much as the actual content. I feel like the companies you choose as sponsors always make sense for your channel so it doesn't feel abrasive or repellant. Is that good? Haha. Love your content. Can't wait for the next one.
This man has an admirable thought process. Great job, I might start painting my stuff too
Your videos are like little movies. I love them. I have to come back and re watch some parts because your editing is so clean.
bro 4:10 blew my mind....you are a genius, and I have officially subscribed.
I’m at work. Saving the video to watch at night at the 65 OLED TV, sure won’t be disappointed
i'd suggest using a UV pen for the birth dates, I like the look of the image transferring technique with the black text on white but for the others they look a little silly.
