One of the classiest movies of the last 20 years, and certainly one of Pierce's best.
He's so supremely cool in this film. His chemistry with Rene Russo is something else.
The soundtrack is fantastic !
As a rule I don’t like remakes of a great movie, but this one is n exceptional.
Delightful to see two mature beautiful people getting it on. The sparks really fly between them. Great story, creat cast!

@@JenBriSeth and like 5 seconds after he puts it in the case, folds it, he takes it out of the case and the wood is perfectly straight and undamaged. Its like a splinter in my brain.

Fun fact, the suit he is wearing at the black and white ball is dark blue, he was contractually stopped from wearing a black suit from James Bond...
and he was not allowed to tie the tie either. That's why it hangs loose during that ball scene.
Man you cant beat going to the movies in 1999 watching this movie i think i was 13 or 14 best time ever i had to see it because i was a bond fan and Pierce Brosnan was in it Renee Russo’s acting and it was absolutely on point as well
I was/am a Remington Steele fan. Pierce was sooooo good in this movie.

According to my DVD’s director commentary track, they did film him cutting the stretcher, but decided to edit it out as ‘too violent’ to the painting.

The Thomas Crown Affair,is my favorite movie of all time ,cause it was just so wonderfully made and I have always wanted a signed poster of it to hang on my wall. Golden Eye would be my second choice cause Bosman played the best Bond ever in this movie. They don't make movies like this anymore and there is only a handful of decent movies that come out every year and everything else is trash.

Folks pointing out the movie mistake of folding the stolen painting . The truck driver complaining about him crossing at a pedestrian crossing , with standing traffic in front of him and no where for the truck driver to physically go . Even though he did , some how !

The briefcase folds out to get the painting in. But then he snaps it in half to keep it briefcase size. How did he not destroy the painting?
No, canvas is a cloth, all he had to do after is replacing the wooden frames behind the canvas, would probably damage a bit the cloth behind the frame, but that wouldn't really matter if he walked out with it...

@@CeeGee0711 Oh you're right! I didn't notice that scene happens right after, and that he pulled from the same briefcase...
According to the directors cut, they had an elaborate setup for how the painting was folded up but it didn't test well and was overly complicated so they cut it from the film.
@@Albanus35 he repaired the frame, and then brought it out to recreate whole scene and recreate the feeling?? Hes thomas crown he does these things!!
Lot of people complaining about the painting fitting into the briefcase. My gripe is nobody would not see a bunch of unattended briefcases in a busy public place and not freak out to security.

The thing is, I SHOULD loathe Thomas Crown, he's incredibly rich and he's basically f**king with people just to amuse himself - I mean all the time the police spent investigating this crime is time that WASN'T spent putting domestic abusers in prison. He dstreoys an expensive boat "just because he liked the splash" - there's plenty of worthy things he COULD be doing - the money he spent pulling off his caper could have provided mosquito nets and treated river blindness - or he could use his business acument to help small business in teh developing world to compete in the global marketplace.
And yet, Pierce Brosnan is so pleasent and charming.......
Also, he wears the F**K out of those suits - any sharper and he'd cut himself.

This wasn't a had remake of Thomas crown affair pierce brosnan and Renee Russia were good in this movie also it was great to see the legend Faye dunway in the remake she is still looking good for her age

I know he's supposed to be Thomas Crown but I still see Bond in this movie. What's interesting and coincidental is that Sean Connery's Bond wore a Bowler hat in his early movies. lol

The extract is cool. But there's one big mistake: when Thomas Crown takes the painting in his briefcase. Because of its dimensions, the painting doesn't fit.
Technically, our protagonist has to fold it in 2 or ‘break’ it to get it into the bloody case.
the sci-fi case folds the spacetime itself, so that the painting always stayed flat
What always spoils it for me in the opening scene is how the pictures effortlessly folds up in the suitcase even its on a wooden frame and afterwards folds right out in the same frame when he is back in his office.... Would be nice with a more realistic way of doing that.
