      As a complete noob to custom keyboards (this will be my first upon purchasing), I am hoping that your optical switches will become available, too.
      I have your Pro Type Ultra with "silent" Yellows. They are indeed silent. If unassembled from the keyboard. The moment the keys go on: clack clack clackety clack.
      I also have your Huntsman Mini with Reds. *That* is a silent keyboard and my favorite switch I've tried among Green, Orange, Red, Yellow, Purple.
      But if not, I'll keep trying out silent switches from other OEMs once I get my hands on this new product. :)

      @@telagabiroe8789 Not him but their mice are pretty meh. Older wired ones I've had with double clicking issues. Recently I've had a wireless Razer Basilisk V3 Pro and the first one just straight up died, the replacement the rubber band for the wheel is super thin and has loosened causing the hyperscroll to not work properly anymore. Also seems to have trouble reading inputs for about a second or so if you accidentally lift it up off your pad/surface even a few millimeters at times. Surprisingly that hasn't seemed to really happen in games but still, does not inspire confidence.

      @@ROFLKNIEFGOESSLIECIve been using Razer mice for years and literally not a single one of them had any problems at all and thats especially imoressive because Im advanced level Fortnite player and I completely push mice to their limits.
      Viper Ultimate was the best and unimaginably durable. If someone described to me what Ive done to that mouse, I wouldn't consider it even remotely possible for a mouse to survive all of that, Im just immensely flabbergasted.
      I tend to rage too much, Ive broken many mice, multiple keyboards, 1 headset and 1 monitor, also dented one of my aluminum gaming laptops.
      But Viper Ultimate was just incomprehensibly tortured - Ive thrown it on the wall like 10+ times with a full or considerable amount of force, once I even slipped off my chair because of the inertia caused by swinging my hand to throw it on the wall. Many times it literally bounced off and came back to legs. Ive stepped on it. Ive smashed it on my desk many (MANY) times, my old mousepad still has the outlines of the shape of the bottom part of Viper's casing, thats how hard Ive smashed it. The rear area of the top shell is also torn apart but the top panel hides it. Last time I raged, I completely ripped up the left mouse button from the body of the mouse, even the point where it connects the upper side of the top shell, it completely came off and caused the top panel to fall off as well, which exposed the top shell and I stabbed it continuously a couple of times until I accidentally penetrated the battery with my knife, all the gas got released from the battery. I basically disconnected the battery cable from the PCB and just threw every part of the mouse in my drawer. After a couple of days I tried to reassemble it - placed the left mouse button back in its slot, barely fitted because the front side of the plastic was bent but I fixed it, put the top panel to hold the rear connection of the button to the shell, used double sided tape to hold the panel in place, plugged cable in the mouse (because battery is gone) and it works perfectly except the left mouse button is noticeably harder to click but I can use it in a regular way to play Fortnite without giving me the disadvantage. Even changed the skates.
      Basically it still works after just an indefinite amount of destruction. Viper Mini was also extremely durable but I never put it thru this much misery tho.
      So the statement of yours that they are 'meh' is just monumental absurd, Im absolutely positive that nobody has ever done that much damage to the Viper Ultimate specifically and it still works after all and Ive had no problems with any of the other Razer mice.

    As a warning to anyone buying, I bought this product and it was phenomenal for about 6 months. After that, it started double typing on me. I thought "well maybe this is just an unusual defect" so i looked it up. Apparently quite a few people are having this issue with even the warranty units having the same issues a few months down the line. I wanted to see what the cause was, and after taking a multimeter to the switches and swapping out lesser used switches with the switches that are double typing, I do believe that the switches are indeed the problem. About 5 of my most used keys are having this issue. I can say that the rest of the keyboard is exactly as described above. Its a solid product, but if anyone is thinking about buying this, just be warned that you may need to swap the switches rather soon. Appreciate the video man!

    I honestly think that Razer nailed this one, finally! It’s a nice mix of amazing gaming performance at a pretty good 75% layout that is unique and still deliver that “gamer” feel to it with Razer unique branding, and a quite nice typing experience with a decent sound profile directly from the case without the need of modding! (Even better than the Wooting on TYPING feeling, not performance).
    I honestly think If you’re a gamer and you’re not quite adapted to the 60% layout or just want a easy mass production keyboard or even just want something good out of the box, that delivers performance and specs close to a custom keyboard like: typing feeling, sound profile and etc, without the need of modding (which is 90% of customers, unfortunately people don’t have the patience to lube gaming switches for a entire afternoon), this keyboard can be the best option by far!

    Hi Hipyo! I love your vids. Quick note from someone who has worked as an ergonomist: wrist rests are not bad! In most cases, especially with mechanical keyboards (because they're thicker than other kinds) they are helpful for improving wrist alignment. There are different typing styles and they have their advantages and disadvantages. Most people will either have a "hovering wrist" which you do, or the "supported wrist". Hovering increases the muscle activity of your arms and shoulders because they're holding that weight up and this can lead to issues. If you don't have any discomfort doing this, then sure, having a wrist rest is not needed. If someone does want to support their wrists on a surface, thereby giving their arms and shoulders less work to do, then having a wrist rest at the height of the keyboard case is really helpful and can save a ton of people from carpal tunnel issues.

    • @glatt1817
      @glatt1817 Год назад +5

      While this might apply only to the higher wrist rests, but my understanding was that you're not supposed to be using the wrist rest while typing anyway. The articles I've seen talk about how they're more for resting when not in the process of typing (which I suppose is the value with the hovering wrist rests if used properly). Mine is at keyboard height (medium height overall), and I only utilize it when I'm fatigued or resting momentarily between active typing).

    • @TheParkourFencer
      @TheParkourFencer Год назад +5

      @@glatt1817 There is a tradeoff for sure, and most people have a preference for one or the other but neither is correct as long as it keeps you feeling good. I've helped a lot of people with wrist pain reduce it or have it fully healed by making use of the wrist rest. Resting is important no matter what style you prefer, so if that's what you'd like to use it for then by all means!

    • @IStratz
      @IStratz Год назад +11

      Can confirm. Doing a data entry job gave me carpel tunnel issues and I tried to just hover and type. But because I typed so much, I think hovering was still activating muscles in my hands/arms to keep them level. So it didn't help nearly as much as getting a wrist rest did. Once I got a wrist rest, it allowed my muscles to relax much more and slowly helped over time.

    • @FreshApplePie
      @FreshApplePie Год назад +2

      interesting thought. i actually dont like wrist rests for this reason, because i was a clasically trained pianist (just play as a hobby now) and hovering wrists was one of the things drilled into me early on. just noticed i do this when typing and i never have any problems with it, so I guess that was a good habit that followed through to my typing. now i understnd that people who dont do this might need the extra support to keep their wrists up
      my thoughts are as long as you are comfortable typing for long periods of time and dont have any areas of sustained pain or pressure, your typing technique is probably fine for you, and for some people, that means using wrist rests help. but for people like me who have this habit, ive never experienced any aches or problems typing for long periods of time, thats also fine too

    • @grubbygeorge2117
      @grubbygeorge2117 Год назад

      Thank you! I kept hearing that wrist rests are bad for me and it didn't make sense for me because of just how much more comfortable using one was. I can type pretty fast, but keeping my wrists was seriously uncomfortable for longer sessions. Does the wrist rest material make any difference for ergonomics? I'm on the lookout for a new one since the old one that came with my razer keyboard (I don't use the keep anymore, just combining the wrist rest with what I'm typing on right now) is showing its age.

  • @jeffcats88
    @jeffcats88 Год назад +5

    Re: wrist rests - I have legitimately injured my wrist from not using one. I bought a Ducky One2 mini as my first foray into good keyboards, and I used it without a wrist rest for a couple of weeks and ended up getting a repetitive wrist strain injury. It was also really uncomfortable because of the height of the keyboard. They do serve an important purpose for ergonomics, you just have to make sure you don't put your wrist at a bad angle from it being too tall.

    I actually own this keyboard (got it not too long after it's release), for the longest time I loved it. It still sounds and looks amazing! Buuuut (this is not an issue, just me being dramatic with a word), my issue has been found in the switches, or so I am assuming that is the issue. Randomly over the course of use, my keys began double and sometimes triple pressing when I would press the key. I decided to see if swapping they switches around to more unused keys would solve the issue and it did, for a bit. As time went on more and more of them just kept having the issue and it has gotten very frustrating. I am considering buying different switches soon, assuming that is the issue, otherwise I guess I will have to buy an entire new keyboard because I can not deal with this issue much longer, lol.

      @@Lexith03 I have seen different outcomes, some people say it helped and double typing is completely gone, some people say it came back. Not sure if it’s just a matter of time for everyone, or if some boards have just faulty switches, and some PCBs. You can always try to get the new switches, swap them and if it doesn’t help, just use them for another keyboard, its not gonna be a waste of money, since you can use them elsewhere. It is a shame, I do like the keyboard but this is pretty unacceptable. I didn’t even bother with a warranty claim, I’ll just get something different, that’s not a Razer. I still have my BW Chroma from like 2013 and it works just fine, I swapped to the V3 around two years ago and I couldn’t really stand how hollow and empty it sounded so I got this, and it’s just another disappointment. In terms of software i've always thought razer was kinda ahead of literally all of the competition. You can register your products for convenience with warranty. There's chroma support for some games which some people will hate but playing something like terraria with it and seeing the keyboard reflect your environment with it's lighting is just sick. Their rbg function on synapse is super nice to use and you can set profiles which is pretty neat. But what I miss the most with my new keychron is hypershift and the macros. I used to have a macro set to hypershift+mouse4 and it worked as an auto clicker. I now can't set an autoclicker to my mouse anymore without sacrificing one of my side button which I also use in other games a lot. and Im used to them going back and forward on webpages and such.
    Here's to hoping we're able to just buy pcbs from them in different sizes soon so we can customize their experience even further.

    Although it's a really nice keyboard (typing feel way better than Razer Huntsman), it has a MAJOR issue you should know before you buy it.
    After 4-5 months of active usage (gaming and programming) some keys) started to double-click. I thought cleaning the board will do the trick, however, it was only the short-term soiution, double-clicks persisted. Changing the switch did help, and now i have 7 double-clicking keys in the F row. Did some research and saw that a lot of people encounter this similar problem, which is, IMO, unacceptable for such a price tag. I'll be contacting Razer Support soon and we shall see how it will go.

    While they definitely should market it mentioning its plastic and aluminum, they should do it in stride cause the mixing of the two provided more of a benefit with the sound. Overall with some more fine tuning of features and an extra mod or so this could actually be one of the better custom-gaming hybrid keyboards, definitely taking things in a really good direction.

    Wrist rests are useful, you just don't have to use them incorrectly. You should get one with a hight that better fits your keyboard, and don't literally rest your wrists all the time in a locked position. It's best to use it as a guide to where to have your hands and glide across it, again, to not have them stuck in one place, so I suggest to buy one that is a bit firm and not too squishy.
    Also you should be using it closer to the palm of your hand, for both mouse and keyboard, pressing directly on your wrist and for too long can further develop carpel tunnel injury.
    And if something still doesn't feel right, adjust the hight of your chair to have your arms at a 90° angle.

      Any keyboard will sound a bit different in an online sound test than it does in person. There's a lot of variables other than the keyboard that affect the sound. The microphone Hipyo is using will affect the sound, its distance from the keyboard will to, as well as editing he does to the videos. Even the surface you are resting the keyboard on and the acoustics of your room make a change, which you can easily check by putting the keyboard on your bed.

    • @MarbsMusic
      @MarbsMusic 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@DomBogey94 There are really 3 types of switches or at least have been. Linear, Tactile and Clicky. A linear switch is a smooth press all the way down, a tactile has a bump when pressing down before it activates and a clicky had a bump like a tactile but also makes an audible click. Many people prefer a linear switch for gaming but some linear switches actually take a longer and/or heavier press to activate than some tactile switches. As most people gaming want a quick press to activate the switch for response times they tend to look to linear assuming that will be the case. There are some linear switches which activate very quickly and usually noted a "speed" switches. These are Razer's new switches that only have a total travel of 3.5mm. They still activate at a standard 2mm but reset at 1.8mm so they should feel faster than the standard "red" linears found in many "gaming" keyboards while also having a little more bounce when typing. This keyboard also has a very fast polling rate of 8000 hrz. Frankly unless you are a competitive gamer I'm not sure anything over 1000hrz, which is standard, is truly noticeable but more and more people seem to want it. All the reviews on this keyboard are good so if you are ok with Razer's software it looks like a good buy and should be an excellent keyboard for gaming.
      Just to note though that the latest trend for gaming are magnetic switches which would feel linear but use a magnet to activate and allow for the actuation point to be set differently. I noted 3 standard types, the more recently would include optical liners which actuate with light rather than completing a circuit then the magnetic. Optical linears are usually very fast actuation and light. This can be good for gaming but can also cause a problem in that sometime you might activate while just resting your finger on the key. Very light normal linears can have this problem as well. With the magnetic switches you could set certain keys to activate very quickly, say at 1mm, then have others more normal at 1.5mm or 2mm. The Wooting HE60 is probably the most popular of this type of keyboard and has recently released some AL kits to upgrade the standard case. Razer, Steelseries and soon Keychron and Corsair will have similar type boards as well. I'm not sure how much rapid trigger type magnetic switches truly make a difference for games other than first person shooters but as noted it seems to be the new trend.
      I hope this helps. For what it's worth I've played games of all types my entire life, I'm 53, and used all types of keyboards. Any board with nkey rollover should be good, you will get use to the switch over time and adjust IMHO. I'm currently gaming with a heavy linear, Gateron Oil King, switch but used a tactile, Glorious Pandas, for quite a long time. See how the board feels when you rest your hands on it, this is hot swap so you can always change the switches later if you don't like them. The feel of where your hands sit will be much more important long term IMHO.
      As noted in my original post the Azoth, there is a new one now too, is a very nice board for about the same price with a few more features which also has one of the fastest 2.4Ghz wireless connections possible. I personally always game in wired mode and my primary is a QK Neo65 but love the 75% form like this board as well.

Yes, you yourself in one of your other videos stated that it was plastic, not metal, that made a keyboard sound thocky. And you and Razer seem to be correct, if this keyboard's acoustics are any gauge.
    After your mods, all I can say is that it sounds like your keys are made of marble. Amazing. I thought the keyboard sounded pretty good stock, and I dare say some would prefer that medium level of thock. However, you clearly like the more sophisticated, dampened, marble sound, like I'm standing among the ancient columns in the entrance of a library. An awesome library.
