It isn't exactly the most attractive font and you're 100% right about it being try-hard-gamer-aesthetic but I find that the font Asus puts on the RoG stuff is fairly easy to read and works well with backlighting as compared to a lot of other fonts. Maybe I'm just used to it by now but I don't mind it as much as I'd expect to considering the actual aesthetic of it
I REALLY want to see someone like Hipyo make a video modding a Wooting 60HE into another case and making the world's best gaming keyboard sound like an enthusiast keyboard. I need it.
Using all metal creates a faraday cage effect, interfering with wireless communication. This is at odds with the Aluminum CNC aesthetic people like, but I think it's a worthwhile compromise to be able to make it wireless and reduce latency.
Damn you are funny to listen to. Great production value and sense of humour. new subscriber here ! Great review too thank you (but like the KB wasn't expensive enough you mod it too...ouch)
I've mained this keyboard for a while now. I actually really like it and don't see any reason to change it for now. Yeah it's a bit pricey, but you do get a solid keyboard. I prefer 75% layout. And when compared to one of my other keyboards like the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL it's just better in everything. For almost the same price! The battery life is insane on this, I've never experienced any wireless problems, the software works fine and the info screen is pretty nice for a quick check on cpu and gpu temp while gaming. I changed to silent tactile switches and different keycaps. I only wish it came in a solid black or white option. Kudos to Asus for making a really solid keyboard that touches more into the custom keyboard genre!
Love it or hate it, some gamery keyboards sometimes bring extra stuff that enthusiast keebs don't bring like that LED screen and Lekker switches/rapid trigger.
There is a price on the website now, it shows $250. Which seems to be right on the money from what many reviewers were hoping. I’m seriously considering getting this thing.
I actually tried this keyboard at the local Microcenter and loved it, came to see if anyone made a video about this keyboard. I think I tried the red switches and the sound was heavenly. I felt like they use some damping material beneath the space bar, and the video proved it. Not sue about the material quality used but from the surface looks like a decent keyboard.
I'm actually considering this keyboard, it costs the same as I was otherwise going to spend on a new board, has that wonderful screen, works with Armoury Crate (I already have an ASUS motherboard), and comes with the lube station included. I like clacky, so i'll likely lube the stock switches and unscrew the case screws for more gasket performance.
Actually ordered one to replace my GMMK Pro. Seems like an almost perfect wireless keyboard if you need wireless along with BT. :) Thinking about getting the new Asus mouse as well due to the light weight and BT! Pretty cool to be able to use the same keyboard mouse for work without having to use a dongle.
I have the new Asus Harpe ACE mouse and it works great, I can recommend it. I kept my GMMK Pro, though, I have heavily modded it to make it look and sound perfect and I don’t care about having a wireless keyboard.
RIP Lawyer Hipyo. Your changes sound much better but I really like the aesthetic of the originals and having the light. If they did south facing RGB I'd probably pick this up and find another set of keycaps and switches for it. Shame cause it's like 80% perfect for what I'd want.
This is a solid keyboard. Asus is making progress. Whatever you think of it compared to other enthusiast boards, there's NO "gaming" big brand out there that can rival this one. Good job Asus!
Got mine today. One with NX Snow switches. Nicer than my custom Panda switches. Lighter lubed and more stable for its lightness. Absolutely great for gamers. Which I am not.
Got it on release before it even went live replaced my zoom65 wireless. Sold out world wide for a reason the wireless performance is insane and battery for weeks or months if you turn off rgb and oled sound is “ good” with amazing space bar sound. Feel is “good”
Can't wait to see when I can buy this hope the price point isn't too crazy but seems to be better than most of the competition if offered in retail stores like Best Buy, only competition I see there is glorious brand which the Best Buy local to me does sell some of.
So it begins, gamer brands are now adapting enthusiast features into their keebs. Maybe in a few years we'll see some good stuff that won't need a ton of work on modding to get the full potential of the boards out.
Pro Tip with OLED screens on ur keyboard or Mobo or other stuff that is likely to show static images like HUD for a Long Time: always cycle it thru to prevent burn in
I will say that this at stock sounds really really good tbh. I would buy it and use it for some months fully stock, maybe just try to lube the included switches. I will look into it 'depending on the price' like Hipyo said. Thanks a great for an informative video, I'm looking at changing my Akko for a more "gamey" board (no idea why)
I can't type for toffee. Still like watching this content. So many hobbyists and professionals pave the way for a better stock experience for regulars.
This keyboard ended my search for finding my perfect blue switch keyboard. The multiple foam layers and silicone pads made each click light and crisp and not an obnoxious loud reverb thud when you press down bottoming out. Highly recommend 👍
You know after 3 weeks of watching your videos and I keep coming back. You’ve earned you sub from me. Keep up the great content man, I’m starting to look up too you
Okay, so I have to ask: What is the deal with the hate for North facing LEDs? To me, the point of backlighting of any kind is to have shine-through caps so you can easily see the legends on the keys in a dark room. I get that it's not compatible with certain kinds of key caps, but that seems like a perfectly acceptable tradeoff so that they can illuminate the caps properly.
@@urabus986 not sure I would really call that a "problem" so much as a limitation while shopping. It's perfectly fine to not bother with backlighting at all, or not care either way. But if having LEDs is a selling point, I'm not sure why somone would then buy caps that don't shine through. And it would be really annoying to get an RGB keyboard, swiches, shine through caps... And then find out they are SOUTH facing LEDs and the switch stems block the light.
i know im waaaay late to the party but idk if you seen on one of the pullers it has something where you can put the stem in and it will hold it and i believe its on the the silver metal one and its on the top of it
The little screen really does nothing for me. I prefer a 65% keyboard. It does have north facing LEDs. I like the foam. The kit is a nice touch. Hotswap is a necessity for me. The factory switches are alright for me. The wireless functionality is good. Overall, this is a very good choice, but if the price is that high I think you'd find many better options for cheaper. There are many very budget friendly options on Amazon which are hotswap and even provide additional cool features some of which I like more than this keyboard. For $250, I could completely mod out those boards, buy a full set of keyboard tools, and even have some money left over depending on what I choose. I like it, but only if it's that expensive, it's too much.
if youre a PC enthusiast and not just a keyboard one, then the screen is pretty amazing tbh. being able to monitor temps in realtime without a overlay ingame or having a program open on the other monitor is amazing QOL
I prefer getting a keychon k6 pro with 4000mha battery life, and buy my own switches and keycaps! Starting at 99 and max 119, keychron is the best keyboard you can get for such good features, while others would charge twice the price for the same functions!

@@TheMrKlassy That's cool. I accidentally commented on the wrong video. Meant to comment on the one that he reviewed with the Claymore II. lol. I currently have the Corsair K100. Be the perfect keyboard for me if the numpad was on the left. I use 3d modeling programs that make use of the numpad, and it being on the right is way less efficient. It also offsets your mouse hand. The Claymore II and the Mountain Everest Max offer the option to place the numpad on either side of the keyboard. So it fixes that issue. If I were to do it again I would either buy a TKL and a separate numpad or a keyboard with the option for a numpad on the left.
I can't believe there are flaws to be found in this keyboard. I played around with a display version at a Microcenter and thought it was the best typing experience I've ever had. Makes me wonder what I'm missing out on.

If you want to have shine through keycaps, you NEED to have north facing LEDs or else the keycaps look dull, half uncolored and the RGB is nowhere near bright enough. And a lot of people still value having shine through keycap legends to see keys at night. The fact that the colors are RGB are part of that "gamery" style, but even a solid color or white backlight still gives the legends pop at night or in dark spaces which is a functional requirement for some people.
Hey mate. Great videos, you couldn't be more agnaging and informative, awesome job :) It would be great tho if u could make a video abou full size keyboards. Some of us are gamers actually working from their game stations, and we really need that numpad on hand 😂 there are many budget options out there, from reddragon, some keychron and many brands I've never heard of before and making good choice is difficult. Great step in the right direction for mass market manufacturers for sure, and hopefully it's a trend that continues. The price is going to be a huge deciding factor though. I don't see it finding much appeal from the mechanical keyboard enthusiast market if it's not priced under $200, but then again I really don't think we're the target demographic for this thing. Still...they would do well to try and keep this thing under $200 if possible.

It isn't exactly the most attractive font and you're 100% right about it being try-hard-gamer-aesthetic but I find that the font Asus puts on the RoG stuff is fairly easy to read and works well with backlighting as compared to a lot of other fonts. Maybe I'm just used to it by now but I don't mind it as much as I'd expect to considering the actual aesthetic of it
@Etenau Most gamers don't really like it. Sure they don't mind it, but if given the option most would go for a significantly less cheesy font
I think Asus should make a new keyboard like this but make it more focused on the keycap quality instead of the rbg
those red switches but with see-through housing so the RGB would light through would been nice
There are LED screens in lots of enthusiast boards already
@@prokopf-9332 I genuinely would love to be wrong about my first statement. Got any links or models I can look at for keebs with the led screen?
There is a price on the website now, it shows $250. Which seems to be right on the money from what many reviewers were hoping. I’m seriously considering getting this thing.
Well, now this keyboard is on my list of "what keyboard should I buy when I have enough for an expensive one" next to the mountain everest max
props to asus to make it more enthusiast type keyboard, now finally it aint some sort of gimmick to have a mech keyboard
Hey hippy Great to see your channels growing a lot! 🎉❤
Hey “hippy” please correct this sry if I’m being rude
I actually tried this keyboard at the local Microcenter and loved it, came to see if anyone made a video about this keyboard. I think I tried the red switches and the sound was heavenly. I felt like they use some damping material beneath the space bar, and the video proved it. Not sue about the material quality used but from the surface looks like a decent keyboard.
i have it and i love it
Thank you Hipyo! Got a Keychron V1 96% for work and added Gateron Yellows with Whale keycaps! 🎉
I'm actually considering this keyboard, it costs the same as I was otherwise going to spend on a new board, has that wonderful screen, works with Armoury Crate (I already have an ASUS motherboard), and comes with the lube station included.
I like clacky, so i'll likely lube the stock switches and unscrew the case screws for more gasket performance.
the 10 second part im really here for is at the end..nice. Most important thing at the end
I like those stabs, feels like they're easier to tune from the looks of it.
Hopefully it's not proprietary and can fit on other boards.
Got mine today. One with NX Snow switches. Nicer than my custom Panda switches. Lighter lubed and more stable for its lightness. Absolutely great for gamers. Which I am not.
How was it now? Are you experiencing any double pressing issue?
@@gilbertalmariego7285 nope
Got it on release before it even went live replaced my zoom65 wireless. Sold out world wide for a reason the wireless performance is insane and battery for weeks or months if you turn off rgb and oled sound is “ good” with amazing space bar sound. Feel is “good”
Bigger companies like this, Corsair, razer etc making enthusiast grade keyboards (within normal people standards) would be awesome :D
Hey Hipyo! Have you thought about reviewing the wooting 60HE? It’s not really a keyboard enthusiast build but pretty crazy tech in it.
Shoot, I'd send him mine to mod for the vid as long as I get it back with the goodies. I know they're hard to get unless you ordered months ago.
1:06 Wow. What a goat
RIP Lawyer Hipyo. First video I'm watching of yours. Glad I stumbled upon it. Great stuff. Keep up the fantastic work. New sub here. Cheers brotha.
Thank you for using the Jasmine keycaps. I think you are the first one to showcase it. I could find a video when searching few weeks ago
Problem is most keycaps not shine through.
I just got one! Absolutely love it
Came from keychron pro3
Glad I subbed to your channel man! Always enjoy your content! Wanted to ask any chance you could get your hands one the Wooting 60HE? Thanks!
LED screen is a nice touch. definitely considering
Asus' ROG stuff is pretty nice for midline gear, all the way down the line. And for standard gaming performance, they're pretty good.
I feel like this keyboard is a good area somewhere in the spectrum of of enthusiast and gaming. will definitely be picking up.
love the vids, can't lie, this keyboard is pretty good for asus. I'd really like to know more about the stabilizers and where to get them.
i know im waaaay late to the party but idk if you seen on one of the pullers it has something where you can put the stem in and it will hold it and i believe its on the the silver metal one and its on the top of it
The little screen really does nothing for me.
@UCPEmbppvNoBWQ--rQy5alPQ i didnt know i had to justify it. i was just giving an example of a use case. but i guess that warrants a personal attack ofc. this IS the internet afterall
@@opvask you are the one getting offended over "justify"! You could simple just ignore my comment, and move on, but here you are! Hypocrite, not everything is rude, stop feeling hurt!
@@opvask I am a PC enthusiast, but I've never felt the need to have an external screen to monitor vitals. Still, even though I don't see the appeal, I know things like that are popular. It's just not for me.
This is actually an interesting keyboard i would be willing to try. Did they gave you at least a hint of when is it going to be released? I would personally feel like this is a banger if it's not over 250 bucks.
I’ve seen the price point range from €300 ($320) to $355.
@@bull1348 nvm then
@Jao Bai Dun ROG + oled screen + wireless + full accessory kit? No way in hell this will be $200 or anywhere close. $250 might even be overly hopeful here.
@Jao Bai Dun on some taiwan store websites they are currently being sold for ~$240 usd equivalent. According to some singapore youtuber reviewers they will be sold for ~$315 usd equivalent. European reviewers have it at ~$318 usd fluxuating euro conversion (299 euros). I think after import cost and usually selling for more than the country that asus is based in, it's safe to say it will be close to $300 usd in the US or more.
@@Bigheadedwon The Steelseries Apex TKL Pro Wireless, which has an OLED panel and is hot swappable optical switches, is priced at $249 on Amazon. I don't think a $250-300 is out of the question here.
Thanks for this review, yea I subbed too, been looking for something that was gaming but wanted to build my own as well... this was a good hybrid. I picked up the blue switches which I'm very pleased with so far but very happy I can swap them out if needed. Oddly enough, I really like the keycaps as well but perhaps I'm just strange ;) definitely enjoying the content as well! Plan to pickup a cheap Amazon keyboard to see if I can mod it with out breaking it!
I came to store to buy Razer Deathstalker, and than I saw this monster. IT IS INSANE. they were kind enough to open the both for me. Razer looked and felt like some children's toy beside this one. To my surprise It is also great for typing (red switch), so I use it now also in my office as a main typing keyboard, which replaced clicky logitech g813. Simply everything about this keyboard looks and feels like another level, and I've had a bunch of these gamers premium keyboards, but this one surpasses all
Dammit I missed the upload 😫 thanks hipyo, I've been looking at all different kinds of boards. I think I'm gunna go with something budget either 60% or 65% to mod rather than a prebuilt. It'll be my first custom board, so I'm following your videos on modding 😊
So this is listed on the ASUS "eStore" for $249.99 right now. I have no idea if that is a good price or not, but it is at the low end of Hipyo's guesstimate range.
Just picked up this keyboard but with ROG NX snow switches that have an amazing sound! love it so far
75% BIS for us OSRS players who need their f keys for intense 07 pvm. I've been watching my friends list to see hipyo log in but I haven't seen you online :(. I'm glad I came back to you're channel though I think this is going to be my first mechanical keyboard yay. I can't wait to get my first zuk kill with it.
Also I hope you have wifed Josie. She seems like a nice lady :D
Just ordered this board for $199 and hope it will be my new primary gaming keyboard.
Mods planned:
Gateron Pro v3 Silvers
C3 Equalz Stabs
DROP DCX Dolch
I just got this and overall pretty impressed. Build quality is solid... a metal plate on the bottom would have been nice but I still like the plastic. Wireless is very fast, battery seems like it'll last awhile (even with rgb on), keys overall sound/feel great out of the box to me but definitely going to look into enhancing it a bit. This feels like a good first step for getting into customizing keyboards. I bought the red switch version but am open to trying an equivalent to the blue version. Any suggestions on solid switches that aren't crazy priced?
What made you choose the Asus ROG Claymore II over the Mountain Everest Max? I've been debating between those two.
@@heathen6669 I bought the Asus Azoth. Overall amazing, few small issues with the software though. One of my best purchases over past few years.
0:40 okay okay I'll subscribe now, geez... Don't want to break no hearts on the interwebs
keep up the good work tho!
Whoa, that "after" sound is pretty damn good. Might have to pick me up one of these.
Keyboard looks awesome. It keeps all the arrows and it has a volume control?! Looks like a great gaming keyboard. 60% are cool but the lack features i really use alot
I see the little Glarses reference you did at 0:35
If you want to have shine through keycaps, you NEED to have north facing LEDs or else the keycaps look dull, half uncolored and the RGB is nowhere near bright enough. And a lot of people still value having shine through keycap legends to see keys at night. The fact that the colors are RGB are part of that "gamery" style, but even a solid color or white backlight still gives the legends pop at night or in dark spaces which is a functional requirement for some people.
Hey mate. Great videos, you couldn't be more agnaging and informative, awesome job :)
It would be great tho if u could make a video abou full size keyboards. Some of us are gamers actually working from their game stations, and we really need that numpad on hand 😂 there are many budget options out there, from reddragon, some keychron and many brands I've never heard of before and making good choice is difficult. For example g413 from logitech sounds like a good, simple, 'budgetish" option, but it's not hot swap and can't find any good info about their switches, any way to improve them or so. Just saying, would be great to see something like that :)
dont worry, we wont let you down on your 1 mil sub goal :)
I am only a Gamer i think its awesome, dont need better sound etc. The cool thing ist though that you can make several areas with different switches and then you have a new expierence with the same keyboard.
Hi hipyo. Thanks to your youtube videos i finnaly decided to try and join the keyboard moding communiti. I just ordered my first set for everthing and cant wait to start building 😁
i bought it and i love it but what confuses me is the "oled" screen... its black and white and isnt oled normally colorfull?
Hipyo blue hair = budget ninja
I wish more of these big bois brand in the gaming scene like Razer, corsair, Steelseries etc., will all jump into enthusiasts market. I believe that these brands have the resources to build quality products (that is not out of stock :)) ) which is good for the hobby
Correction, I just purchased this keyboard for $ 290. Will recieve it in 4 days or so. Very excited.
When he said "glorious would charge a million bucks" or something I cried because I paid glorious for all those things : (
(I do like the glorious stuff tho, amd gmmk pro is sick)
10:44 that humor caught me off guard 😂
Listening to the before and after sounds expecting massive improvement and must not know what I am listening for because both sound pretty similar.
I went from the NX RED Azoth to the Moonlight Azoth with the new NX Snow switches they were a noticeable improvement curious what you think if you ever get to try it.
just got mine today and its insane the NX snows!
Dude the sound is actually BUSSIN
RIP Lawyer Hipyo :(
No cap guys, as a keyboard nerd who owns over 50 keyboards custom made or major brand, I feel confident to say that an ROG azoth with TTC switches will end your search for a perfect keyboard. trust
Installed ttc venus linear switches on my azoth and it sounds fantastic compared to the rog nx reds
@@tomh1556 Hey congrats on getting the right switches man. I use the TTC tiger switches and those sound phenomenal as well.
this keyboard is so damn good! ultra low latency with hot swappable switches AND its 75%... beats any keyboard out there
this is just what i was trying to find
