    -Did anyone notice this "little fact"? Farah ran a 3:57 (one second behind the winner) AFTER falling in the first lap. Damn, I wish I could run a six minute mile AFTER falling. Mo deserves a huge amount of credit for running a sub four minute mile AFTER falling! Other comments mention this fact as well. Give the man credit, where credit is due!

      Not really... He ran sub 4 and the others ran sub 10??? Farah LOST, bottomline. He only runs for gold and glory anyway... He got up but then could not deliver... Such falls are very common in running, so can not be used as an excuse.

    • @HSpartaL
      @HSpartaL 5 лет назад +12

      OZ Z Yes congratulations you pointed out he lost. Just because falls are common does not mean it is not an excuse for losing. He lost about 3 seconds on the fall which means he had to go through the effort of overtaking the runners again which was basically the reason he lost. You see biased anyway when you said ''he only runs for gold and glory," OK so you are one of those people who are all about taking part? Welcome to international competitions, you wont get anywhere if you only care about taking part.

      This was in 2012, around this time he was running around an 8:07 2mile so he had tremendous speed and a pb of 3:50 for the mile. He didn't get into marathons till like 2015. This was just likely a bad race for him

      I don't know about Rupp, but Mo Farah holds the GB records for most distances from 1,500m up to the marathon, with the exception of the mile. He holds the 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000m, 10,000m on the track, and the Half Marathon and Marathon off it, so I don't think you can call him just a marathon runner, and I'd bet Rupp isn't too far behind in terms of times, and could be better at some distances.

      Nope. According to this study (and physics) wind resistance accounts for ~10% of total effort at these speeds and can be reduced 80-100% with drafting (especially a big guy in a baggy t-shirt). They're putting 60-80 watts into air drag at 15 mph. 8-10% faster is definitely going to make a difference. That's worth around 20 seconds for the mile. Even if that's a high estimate, 5 seconds is a big difference in a race like this.

      Hello, I am here to educate these fools commenting. First, this is an indoor meet, which means the 10,000 METER specialist is in his base training phase (the Olympics were that upcoming summer). Second, HIS PR WAS 3:57.72 in the mile before this... so could he really have dusted those guys? Third, how do you know he didn't try to kick hard? He has seamless biomechanics and it does not seem he is running hard when he is. Finally, the man is a 10k-Marathon specialist. He is not one to have a devastating kick, and you would know this if you watched any of his races before this. So, please do some research before you post something incorrect and ignorant. #rupp

    I don't consider an indoor mile legitimate . too many tight curves are hard on the knees and ankles . If it was an indoor track as big as an outdoor track of 400 meters per lap it would be legitimate . regardless of indoor or outdoor mile this race i don't count because Farah fell . In a 10k a fallen guy comeback would be more imaginable and probably has happened before , but in the mile its almost impossible to finish even third after falling . its just too short a distance race
