      Wayne Goss Hey, I love your tips and just wanted clarification before I try this one. So I get doing this technique on the first layer of foundation but you're saying that pressing that hard on the 2nd layer of foundation, concealer, and so on doesn't disturb the layers underneath or make product move around weirdly? In that case is it better to wait for the products to dry on the face a bit between layers with this technique or try and work quickly while they're all still a bit wet? And would this work with kind of creamy products that never really dry fully unless set? (I have a couple color correctors I use under my foundation that act like this)?

    Why does everyone cite as an example BB? A lot of sponges with same quality are selling such as Puffy Bunny sponge or any others. With the same properties as BB or even better!

    • @anonmous1284
      @anonmous1284 4 года назад +20

      Inez Cobb i think BB has become a generic name for all blending sponges

    • @shirleyens7707
      @shirleyens7707 4 года назад +11

      Inez Cobb it's like calling any facial tissue Kleenex.

    • @montanaknutson3744
      @montanaknutson3744 2 года назад

      It’s the same concept as Kleenex vs other tissue brands. They are the ones that made the product stand out. Everyone knows what you are referring to when you say pass me a Kleenex. Same as beauty blender. There are simply too many sponge types out there to know exactly which type of sponge is in reference without seeing it.

    I LOVE how you have an "old school" feel to your tutorials and aren't a sheep following the crowd! I was lucky enough to be trained in beauty of all areas in London, by Estee` Lauder who I worked for until moving onto being a freelance make-up artist four years later.
    This is when I really came into my own and started to really look at my clients skin, face shape etc.....hooded eyes scared the hell out of me until I learnt how to take a step back, look at my canvass fully, and suddenly it all fell into place. I started to teach myself more techniques, how to soften the look of a more mature person (male and female, I'd take my basic make-up kit to Canal Street in Manchester, my home city, and shown transgender men, young girls.... I loved transforming people's faces, teaching etc... I miss it so much.
    I then worked for a photographic studio, where everything I had learnt came into play. My parents bought me a make-up book, a step by step of 'how to make-up any face' or the like!
    MAC was my weapon of choice so to speak, and eventually, I had enough money saved to buy a basic brush set of about 6 brushes.
    I'm now disabled with a number of conditions that stop me working. That said, I still do wedding make-up, bridesmaid's etc....... I'm certainly not a sheep when it comes to "looks of today", but I'm happy, more than happy to learn new lasting techniques, especially as setting sprays were not around some years ago, and watching you never gets boring, and the little tricks you share (ripping a cheap wedge sponge in half to help with pitted or acne scarred skin, to help cover and "fill it" as such is fantastic!)
    So, I guess I'd like to thank you for sharing your knowledge with us all, but most of all, remaining true to your roots......
    V x

      +Sharna Keady always add a little at first because it's easy to add more but difficult to take away. That goes goes for everything - transition colour,blush,concealer etc... Also, It's easier to blend when there is a small amount of product rather then slathering on a thick amount of concealer and then blending till your arm falls off lol

    I don't normally comment on videos but I had to comment on this one :) I have been a long time Beauty Blender user and typically within 3-4 hours of wear my makeup starts to cake up and then ultimately disappears throughout the rest of the day. I have tried being light and heavy handed with the moisturizer, different primers, etc. (all compatible with the foundations I use) but nothing ever works. I used this technique this morning and low and behold 6 hours later my foundation still looks completely flawless and hasn't moved at all! THANK YOU SO MUCH WAYNE! I have been a subscriber and huge fan of yours for a long time and truly appreciate your honesty and dedication toward your craft and teaching everyone new and proper techniques for makeup application xx

    I've been doing this since I started using beauty sponges! I haven't seen people doing it but it really makes my skin flawless. If I just bounce it, it doesn't seem to "stick" to my skin. It really does work, awesome tip! 💕

    This makes alot of sense. When I do my nails with glitter, I've learned to do the same thing...like go in and press the glitter down into the nail after every layer, so that the finished look is thin and light instead of clumpy and thick. Not sure why I never thought to apply the same concept to my face.
    Gonna try this the next time I do my makeup. Thanks!

    • @OriginalPinkbird
      @OriginalPinkbird 8 лет назад +3

      The beauty blender gets well squeezed, so that the only water in it helps the products blend. It's supposed to be the right density & texture that it blends, whereas other 'common' make up sponges supposedly don't replicate its finish.
      Also, previously Wayne stayed he prefers cream foundation products for contouring & blending... But I don't know if that's still the case as I don't watch all of his videos when he puts them up.

      I don't know if this would impact it but possibly the products you're using don't mesh. He made a tip a while ago when using primers to use the same base as the foundation- i.e. water-based, silicone-based, etc. So possibly that's why you have some that doesn't meld with others.

    Am I the only person that hates the Beauty Blender? It doesn't matter how you use it, more product soaks into the sponge than on my face and just sucks! Doesn't matter if it's the real beauty blender or the doupes, they all pretty much suck! No thank you! I just can't stand them. I've tried and tried and tried them and just can't stand them.

    • @thetypewoman
      @thetypewoman 8 лет назад +5

      I only like them after they're filled with foundation. Which I guess isn't correct or sanitary but if it's not already got a deep layer of foundation in the blender, it just soaks up the product (even when it's damp) and that's wasteful.

    • @beekah992
      @beekah992 8 лет назад +7

      I had the same problem but I noticed less of it when I ensured the blender was wet but I also squeezed all of the water out and I use a stippling brush to spread the product around and the blender to blend everything in. I bounce very lightly for that though.
