Nice work! considering buying one. ... twist your wires coming out of your power supply... and others. it's good practice against unwanted noise, it it looks nice.
Once again nice work! I read a bit about the Robben Ford #102 and it seems that it was modified/upgraded as time went on. Did you do the early "green light" version? Or the design in the thread #102 Robben Ford Amp (High Plate Skyline) at The Amp Garage?
Did you have to source the parts yourself or is there a full kit that covers that, I know the PCB is attainable, but is this a kit for someone not experienced? And just for fun, what kind of investment?
I know this video is older, but hopefully you can still see this & respond. Do you think this could be used to build i to a rackmount as an ODS preamp & not use the power section of the board?
@@stevesalazar9658 I dont see why not, but an eyelet board build would make more sense if your not utilizing the whole circuit. Also you would need to figure out the appropriate power transformer. The preamp still needs to have the correct voltages, etc. I suggest digging around on ampgarage... There are some 'preamp only' builds on there from the past that could point you in the right direction
The 102's clean may be the best jazz amp tone ever. Despite Robben Ford and Howard Dumble's notoriety, this particular circuit is also possibly gear head's best kept secret.
Do the conversion! I play mine at about half of my gigs and it really sings. It's been a while now and I'm not exactly sure, but I think for the board, sockets, and components you are looking at around $300. The donor amp gives you the most expensive parts of a build.
Nice. I actually got the amp for free from a co worker because it wasn't working, but changed the main filter caps and new tubes and it was working again. What tubes do you have to use with this conversion?
I'm converting one to a 5f6a plexi mix. I was pretty disappointed with the original build quality of the pc board.. very low quality. No wonder they have so many issiues. And what a harsh sound.
Hey the hot rod fenders are built junky but rebuilding like this is great!! I like the modular approach too! Maybe some low grab thread lock on the screw connecters?? A tube amp combo is a harsh environment whole lot of shaken and vibrating going on!! Cool project!
WOW, this is professional work with pro results. The sound is amazing. Very impressive. You can build any amp you want. Very impressive.
Definitely has "The Sound"! Very impressive work, and great playing too!
Thanx for sharing. Time to mod my 95 blues deville.
Sounds great! Wonderful even!!! I've not heard of the Dumble Overdrive Special Clone before. looks like I need to look into this further!
Oh man! Came here for the amp, stayed for the as-50! I have the same guitar
Do you have anywhere where you have all the info including where someone like me could find all the parts needed to make this exact clone?
We should pair up and build more and sell some

can you share the link where to purchase the PCB board
awesome job.....sounds awesome.....
Sounds beautiful. Great job. I'd definitly buy one.
Sounds killer, great job! Where should I begin if I want to start learning to build amps, pedals, electrical, etc?

Why in the hell don't you have more subscribers, they are all missing out
Thanks!! I'm working on it :D
Great job dude! I need to get into the Dumble thing more the sound is there.
Yeah it's definitely a great balance between beautiful clean and a killer overdrive tone. Thanks very much!

@BirdsnakeBrown Thank for the quick response & info. Much appreciated

That is so true! The 102 cleans are luscious.... deep and big yet still crystal clear.
Nicely done.
Good to see You smile at the end. Where did You buy the cuircit board? Is that something that could find its way over to london?
well done! sounds great!
Thanks a lot!
Wow!
How much did this conversion cost? I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe I was wanting to hot rod, but think a conversion like this might be better

Where did you get the board?
Remember the four first letters in the name, now you have it.
I always called him Dumb Bell
Hey man what's the mode of that Ibanez? I see it in a bunch of your videos and I love it man
Thanks so much!! The guitar is a 1981 AS-50... really great guitars.
Dude!
NICE

is a dumble amp out of phase?

I tried the C Rex in my modded Blues Jr and went back to the Celestion V-Type 70 Watt. It sounded so much better and had that in your face attitude.
yeah nothing against the C Rex but I haven't found anything I just loved it in
I never got an answer back but are you able to share where you got the board? Or are willing to sell this amp?
You can find everything you need to know on amp garage... I am not planning on selling it at the moment.

It's a double clone except for five things that it's not
