Thank you, you made my day. Thank you for sharing a piece of history. Amazing Quality for a 65 years old video. Greetings from Lisbon. :-)

This is great. I was born in 1974 and never imagined how my home city was before I was born. I only know some black and white pictures and not much else. Probably I have never researched on this subject. I find the movie with very good quality and the colors seem to reflect accurate the mood in Lisbon. One interesting thing, the yellow electric vehicles are exactly how I knew them and they still keep going today :-)
Cool video! My family is Portuguese and my Grandfather came to Canada in the early 50's. This is what Lisbon looked like when he left for a better life. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

A bunch of Tugas falando em inglês with one another for no reason. This is a beautiful video, and it reminds me why I love film more than I love digital.

HI Jeff, I am a PhD researcher based in Holland, currently working on a historical project about Lisbon, I would like to ask your permission to use this footage in my research, please let me know how I can contact you to get your approval for this please? Natalie
You grandfather had better equipment and storage capabilities than multimillion-scientific researchers from NASA or Roskosmos :DDD Somehow there footages were filmed with cameras from early Chaplin days and after kept in humid basement. Thank you for sharing.
Are you sure that the movie is from the 1950s? I ask this because there is a detail of a building that I know for sure that was opened on September, 1966 and it already appears almost finished (or it seems to) in the movie.
Parece-me ser dos anos 50 sim, aos 0:43 nao se vê a ponte de Salazar (ainda nao construida e só viria a ser inaugurada em 66). It´s from the 50´s The Salazar Bridge was not builded yet. Salazar bridge does not appear on the film (it was opened in 66 only) time code 00:43
João Bacelar Definitivamente anos 50, diria por volta de 1955. no video vê-se o Mercado Geral do Gado em Entrecampos, demolido entretanto para dar lugar à Feira Popular aberta em 1961
The building that I was talking about, nowdays is the ministry of social security. You can see it at 0:24. I know that there was some problems during the build, it was projected to be an hotel, for instance. It still is one of the tallest buildings in Lisbon. Probably it took some years to build.
Sorry my english, its not better: Check! The lighting, the environment, its Lisbon! Has not changed over the years. I see once time ago, in documentary (História do cinema portugues(?)) many directors foreigners after back to their country had see in studio a lot burning images, because a light of Portugal was strong for theirs filters and tapes, and they did not expect this.

Is it alright if i use this in a school project i'm making (with credit at the end, of course)?
It's on Fernando Pessoa, a poet from Lisbon.
Stunning quality, did you go back in time and filmed this with your smartphone? :) Thanks for sharing
Hello, I'm working on an amateur movie project, would there be any way to contact you? Thanks

+Don Jin Instant classic comment. I totally agree!

***** I agree with you. I missed the detail of the bridge. Probably the building that I was talking about took some years to build.

You can see the pedestal of "Cristo Rei" without the statue. It was built after 1952 and before 1959

That was a PB4Y-2.
Neste caso, "Scenes of 1950s Lisbon" não quererá dizer década de 50? :D
I LOVE
Mui bom!
