Nostalgic !! I remember the floating bridge. My brother got frightened on it, jumped in the water and someone had to jump in and save him. I remember traffic being able to drive along High Street before being pedestrianised.
Fantastic. I arrived in Soton in 1959 as a 5-year-old and those old Guy buses were still running all the while I was at school. Also used the floating bridge many times as I lived not far from Woolston. I'm an author now (Jon Blake) and put a lot of my knowledge of 60s Soton, the Solent and IOW into a book called When Dylan Sank The Isle of Wight. The Balmoral was always my favourite IOW steamer - couldn't believe it when I moved to Cardiff and found her still motoring around the Severn Estuary.
Gaz, I am afraid I don't have any details for the tune. It was advertised as 'happy music' with no copyright and therefore I don't have any further information. Apologies, kip
This made my day, my town, oh how the people dressed so smart… platform busses and a friendly clippie pushing that bell…

Good film but spoilt by the unnecessary copyright overlay in the middle of the picture.
