Great tips well explained. Just taken delivery of the lanshan 2 Pro and will definitely be adding some if not all of these mods. Titan pegs a little hard to get hold of at the moment though (must be good) Thanks again
Glad it was helpful!, Not as excited about the Titan Pegs as I was, it seems that 'longer is better'. there are a few videos about putting them all to the test and the long 9 inch groundhogs we're the best it seems
great vid gord, ive got the lanshan 2 pro, used it for the first time on wednesday night at devils kitchen, loved it, im looking at doing some mods to mine, im abit concerned about sowing on top of the original stitching though, im the guy with the orange montane trousers on daves fb group you were taking the piss out of the other day lol, giz a sub gord, help us out with the channel
Ha ha! Sorry chap, I thought I was already subbed. Myself and Dave were watching your vid just last night. Good stuff chap. Mine is the standard version so the fly sheet has a stitched edge. I got some 5mm webbing and folded it in half, then I got a short piece of iron on seam tape and folded that in half (I made a small incision to the tape to that the webbing poked through it and then ironed that onto the edge of the fly over the stitched seam. Then I ran it through the sewing machine along the same place as the original stitching and then attached a length of guy line with a tensioner. They aren’t as good as factory finish I’ll admit but at the end of the day they are just for a bit of extra piece of mind. Those tents are pretty bombproof to be fair.
I don´t want to get on your nerv.... but a lot of your article links are not working any longer 😞 Maybe, if you have time and the fun of doing something about it - I m in love with your upgrades!!!!
Totally agree! It's been carried a fair few miles now and feel very at home when I'm lay out in the Lanshan. Cheers for the comment. all the best. GJ XX
Hiya. I’m having problems finding those metal double hooks. Costs a crazy amount to import them from the Zpacks website so I was wondering where you got yours from?
Hi Charlie, sorry a bit late with the reply, I ordered mine from Zpacks in the end and just looked away from the screen when they added the postage and just pressed the 'buy now' button! I did see someone on ebay that had bought a 100 and was selling them but I think he shifted them all
I've done the bungee mod on the Pro version for the groundsheet and the bathtub - 30cm of bungee for the groundsheet/footprint, and 20cm for the bathtub. It keeps the Bathtub much more upright and consistent & easier to pitch if you're "rubbish"!. Not sure if 30 & 20 cm would be right for the normal version - the footprint might be the same size as the bathtub for the normal Lanshan 2
Hi there, Thanks for watching and getting touch I’m fairly sure it was at least 3mm, might have been 4mm. If you make the loops short enough you’ll get some tension on there which will stop it flapping Also wrap around the pole a couple of times will help too
do you remember what height you've set your poles to in this video? I'm in the process of buying poles, but I'm not tall and many poles that feel good to me only extend to 120cm. Is this enough? I've seen people recommending you set the poles to 125 or 130cm for better airflow and less slack in the inner.
Hey what about the hook used to attach the vestibule doors, the double hook extended from the peg, could you provide a link for that? Many thanks! Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
Hi there. the only place I'm aware that sells those is Zpacks over in the USA, you get shafted on the postage so my advice is to buy about 10 and pay one lost of postage and then sell the others to make your costs back.
@@ashropshirelad Awesome I found them. Thank you. The Lanshan doesn’t seem to be as popular in the US. I have one ordered. Been loving all of the modification videos. I plan on using loop aliens combined with reflective guy lines, as well as shock cord combined with the double clip at vestibule doors. Should be an excellent lightweight tent! I also plan on doing some extra seam sealing. Do you think that is necessary on the lanshan 2 double wall model?
Hi Vinnie, I think mine are the medium, they only did the one size when I bought them. I belive they do a large now. In all honesty though I dont really rate them, I'd get two delta pegs for the main lines if I were you and some longer pegs for the rest.
Hey, would you think this tent would have enough room for a guy that's 5 foot 11? Using a Extra wide thermarest pad? Great tips btw those peg claws look brilliant
@@ashropshirelad Thanks mate, one more question. Do you regret or have any opinion on the grey colour ass opposed to the green or Khaki? I was thinking the light must be nice coming through in grey? Thanks, subbed
I think is more a 'piece of mind' thing for me, I wouldn't knowingly take that tent out in a storm but if I get caught out I think it would stand a chance!!
Sorry it's taken me so long to subscribe. I've seen you pop up in Dave's vids like forever, and you always seemed not so accessible, if you don't mind my saying. Just watched this vid, as I have exact same tent and colour and it turns out you are the boy! Brilliant vid, subbed and sorry to have judged by your prev associated cover 😅
Good stuff! Always interesting to see what improvements can be made - My own Lanshan mods are similar, though I have made them all optional to use or pitch like 3f Ul intended depending on wind strength, (though I've had these tents out in some serious weather without any changes!) thnx for the sub, happy to do likewise...atb Sinco
Got rid of the rams head completely. Extra peg per door and the bungees. Job done, aids opening the door for nocturnal urination missions. That spot in the wind is a bugger! Had a pole down in the night ! Land shan becomes a bivvy very quickly. Loving the door additional lines
Ha HA! I've had that, couldn't be arsed to get out and put it back up if I remember! just lay in it and went back to sleep!!! Cheers for watching and commenting. atb, GJ
Great vid Gordon. My Lanshan 2 arrived this week and definitely will look at implementing some of these ideas. Did you swap out all your guy ropes for something more robust?
Evening, I haven't tinkered with the lines on the Lanshan, I think they're pretty strong to be fair, (at least as strong as the fabric they're attached to anyway!). Might be a thought though, I have plenty of paracord left over. Cheers.. GJ

Like what you’ve done, some great suggestions. I think I might just have to get myself a Lanshan 2. Need to find out a bit more about the new ‘pro’ version as well? Is it just that the inner is permanently attached? Thank you.
Great setup video Gordon .... might be adopting some of those mods although knowing my lazy ass maybe not !! 😂🤣 hope you guys can get out there soon making adventure videos .... ATB Dave Mc
Some cracking mods there mate! I wrongly assumed that those ground anchors had the guy lines into the slot, I didnt realise they went through that thick bungee cord, thats a cracking idea 👍
zpacks.com/products/double-hook-apparatus-1 I’ve done away with them though and just gone with the 2 bungees hooked over a peg with just the single line out to a peg from the apex. Cheaper and easier to get in and out at night.
I. Ant remember. I pitched it first, then ran two cords out to the main corner pegs and two lengths of bunjee cord to the other two. Then when I pitch it now, I peg that first and it puts my pegs roughly in the right place
Some more great tips mate. Looks like your all set for when can go out again. Some simple adjustments and hopefully all work out. Great video ATB Adam 👍👍
Hi there, I used a little sewing machine to sew them on. I wrapped a bit of webbing in some goretex seam tape and then ironed it so it stayed in place while I sewed them on.
9 dollars for those little line lock things... Then starting from 30 dollars for UK delivery.... I ain't paying over triple what I'm spending on actual items for just postage. Ludicrous
I know, its a bloody rip-off isnt it, its the only place to get them from though, If you keep an eye out in some of the Facebook groups. a few people have bought a load and paid for one lot of shipping and then sell them over here to recoup the money.

Nice one Gordy. How did you attach those new metal hooks mate? Did it require stitching to get them secured on the fabric loop or not?
No mate, they come as a unit with that line-lock as part of them. Just unthreaded the plastic one and added that to the guy lines
