I got a set of these and i think they are trash. They wobble like crazy on normal MX switch stems. Maybe they would do better on the Kailh switches with the dust-resistant square or circular thing around the stem, or even the Akko switches that are like this: [+] . But for normal MX switches these caps are not good IMO.
Finally, someone else says it. I've encountered a lot of negative things with the set I got and none of the "reviews" I've seen ever talk about them. Ended up no longer viewing those youtube channels out of it and it's helped me realize how much some of them are just poorly masked advertisement channels.
The tips Awekeys has on their website for tightening the stems to make them fit can lead to breaking the stem legs on the keycaps. They had to replace several of mine because they just snapped clear off the base. The metal is very porous under that paint coating. I spent extra on that Ti-black set and a baby's breath knocks the keys off. I won't bother tightening them because I know the stems will break.
Box stems on certain MX switches are unfortunately no help, either. I thought the same thing as you and tried to test many different things. The only solution that kind of works is taking fabric bandaids, cutting little square from them and use that on the stems. You have to be careful with that because the adhesive from bandaids is quite strong and it's always possible you break a switch or stabilizer when removing them.
Anyway, sorry for the added rant. Just another voice in the void but wanted to back up your experience with my own. They should have just copied the stem design you see on metal artisan keycaps. There'd be no issue if they did.
@@mr6291 Interesting...i didn't know there were any tips to follow for tightening up the fit. Sounds like more BS tho LOL. When I received my set I had the opportunity to leave a review somewhere...seems like it was part of my order process...i have trouble remembering because the thing where i submitted my review said something like "Thanks, you'll see your review in a few days after we moderate it" or whatever....and then it never showed up anywhere. At least, not on Awekeys's website XD I hope Thomas gives this set a scathing review for all to see...these caps are truly HHHIDEOUS!!
I'm going to either buy a set of Cerakey or Awekeys. Any thoughts on how these compare to each other?
Not yet, you may want to wait for the review/sound test to make your decision :) .
My experience with the kickstarter Awekeys are that they were effectively useless. The cast nature of the caps means that the stems are very brittle and they are so loose as to be useless. If you try to adjust the stem to make it able to actually stay on the switch you run the risk of breaking the stem.

If i had to pick any keycaps, id pick a stonewashed copper. then let it patina over time.
I’d be cautious about that periodic table key cap set if I were you. Leaving aside the Francium and Polonium keycaps, you’re also going to have issues with the Fluorine cap as well as all the alkali and alkaline ones.
They do look intriguing. I wonder how much flexibility they offer with the layouts--a quick browse of their site would seem to indicate that their sets only come with one WIN key (my keyboard has two). I'd be fine with a meta key or something instead, as long as it was a matched pair.

Periodic keycap set made out of the elements they represent? That's interesting, but unless everything is Fe or Al, I suspect you may have trouble with Cs and Fr. And I'd suggest leaving Pu for something you don't push very often like Alt Gr,
THey have only a few metallic elements, it's not a full set. Just a small one.
How do you do a key cap in a noble gas?... lol

I use metal keycaps on my Gateron Green keyboard. If you type with your fingernails instead of your fingertips, the whole thing rings like tiny miniature bells starting and stopping. It's a very pleasant sound.

Is the text on these pad printed, or inlayed? I don't see it mentioned on the website.

Apparently the caps are lasered (w/o infilling).
@@Chyrosran22 Thanks. It's a pity the text isn't as durable as the caps. I wouldn't be happy putting clear film stickers on a cap set that costs so much. That's something I do with cheapo sets to protect them from wearing off.
@dalriada842 I don't think I'll wear very soon as the lettering is part of the keycap. Should be very durable tbh.
A deeply stamped lettering would look pretty sick though.
your surprise at the taste of kvass was pretty similar to when I first tasted it. for some reason the store I used to buy it from doesn't stock it anymore, but the shelf spot it used to be in remains empty.
